Truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuth!!!!

Best trio show IMO was Rocks off Boat cruise 2007-07-05.
-
I\'d be interested in what is everyone\'s favourite show/run from each era so I can listen to them, then make a more informed decision.
-
save side for life....
save, sequoia, tpalms, and animal.
+1 to that. Call me old school, but much as I like Chris\' playing, there is just something about the way Save used to lay down tracks like Doughboy. And more importantly for me, was Jordan coming back - the band missed something without him.
-
listened to some fongoulish freakout 8 ish earlier, my only one attended, and forgot how nasty the trifecta could get... cover heavy, like woah. rush, nirvana, primus, and others.. check it out if curious about some 3piece shows..strangecreek set as a trio was mindblowing as well
-
I never saw any trio shows, but my vote would be with either line up with Matt in it.
As for Ron or Chris on base, that\'s a toss up.

Am I too predictable?
Yes, and wrong thread guy. Although the title is misleading  Anything that any of the guys do musically has ser potential. I can\'t argue with anyone\'s choice.

My second favorite era, of course, was during the years I could count on a giant sweaty man-hug from Stephen that would soak through at least two layers of clothing in the winter, and straight to my soul in the summers.
Where has Stephen gone? I didn\'t realize running a booze dispensery and whoring his own mother would be so time consuming these days.
Awwww....I\'m touched.......mom whoring is easy since all mom\'s are **** by nature.....they take to it naturally and need little guidance or supervision...However running a booze dispensary has taken hold of pretty much every waking moment of my life...Not only that but it has turned me into a bitter old miserable jerk.....I still love The Breakfast and all of you guys...for without the afformentioned I would be dead for sure......
jeusus

i\'ve been watching a stack of Power Trio dvds since yesterday and it confirms that was my favorite period in breakfast history. so tight and heavy. fuckin\' ballsy breakfast.
-
kad uses too much tongue.. makes me a little uncomfortable
-
And I intend to get DOWN to the music tonight!! :D
make sure you give Gabo a big wet sloppy kiss for me....

In this, we share something in common, broseph.
I actually recently got back from the detox unit at a nearby hospital, where I checked myself in to try and safely deal with a devastating 8+ year benzodiazapine addiction. Looking forward to enjoying my first show clean and healthy in quite some time tonight at the Church. Although I have to take a rather heavy dose of anti-epileptic meds for the time being, hopefully the seizure-y-ness will too pass in time.
<3 you guys and gals. You always had my back and some of you, you know who you are, actually probably saved my life straight up once or twice. I intend to honor that fact by not putting any of you in that kind of situation ever again.
And I intend to get DOWN to the music tonight!! :D

maybe you should switch over to http://www.prettylights.info
I already tried but there is a 3 month backlog of people waiting to get on that site.....here its open fields all day all night.....

Wonder if Ellis\' favorite line up is when Gencs was doing load in. Man, those wires and cables were plugged in COR-RECTLY!
lol.
Either way, my favorite lineup MUSICALLY, was whatever lineup was playing during the Greg Ellis era......what don\'t you get about that statement?????
maybe you should switch over to http://www.prettylights.info
-
power trio. no offense to either key player or dangle, but i just found the trio to be more in your face rock and roll. tight, focused and delivered hard versions of everything(even heather).

Greg Ellis era Breakfast hands down......Whatever the lineup happened to be.....I find it hard to believe I am the first person to present this option...whatever......
while i agree with the sentiment, the thread title specifies "musically." his effects were certainly felt when at the show, and i\'m sure he had an effect on the musicians...but i don\'t think he affected the music nearly as much as the actual musicians. what i will say is that he would make any of those lineups better

I give the current line-up a definite edge over the original PB. Was always my opinion that the band needed Jordan regardless.
Reason is, although Ron certainly kicked ass at bass and could write some great songs.... well, Dangle just kicks even more ass at bass and writes straight up epic anthems.
Not to mention all the other guys have several more years of practice and experience under their belts, that never hurts either.
-
This is a really tough question.
I voted for the current lineup because I love it! The guys are better musically and vocally, and Dangler is the best thing that has happened to this band, well that and Jordan coming back too! I feel like these guys can do just about whatever they want musically and could pull it off. I, like everybody else, wish there were more shows but we take what we can get. More shows would allow them to delve deeper into the repertoire and add more songs.
That all being said, I do love every incarnation of the band. I listen to them all depending on my mood. PB is the classic and is the genesis of this incredible thing. The trio was so tight and nimble and could turn corners like nothing. The lineup with Matt and Ron was really just starting to flex its wings before the change to Chris. Now, I feel like that lineup, with Matt and Chris, really put a different twist to the sound and the jams. Those four put together some really amazing moments.
I just love whats happening now. If I could vote for them all, I would.
-
05 pb. done
-
i\'ve always liked whatever was going on at the time the best. voted for current line up for the record but the original line up is hard to argue against
-
My vote will always go to the original line up. It was those guys that started it all.
having said that the current lineup is very close 2nd in my heart. Dangle can really lay it down and having Jordan on keys is always a good thing.
Hard to compare tho as everyone has a lot more time under their belt now then back in 2000/2001 or so. 9 or 10 years of tweaking songs and getting better musically is bound to have an impact on the situation.
Very well said. I couldn\'t agree more.
-
Original lineup. Madison 11.11.05 will forever be the dearest show to my heart.
No matter what keys HAVE to be involved to be the best lineup for me, I enjoyed the Trio but struggled without that layer.
And I have never even seen the current situation live. Since Jordan rejoined they havent made it out this way. Actually, last time I saw them was the unlisted Trio of Tim, Adrian & Chris. Cool, but lacking ivory.

ones entitled to own opinion. no worrys!
-
don\'t worry there Branch, you\'re still my fav. My actual vote went to PB.
-
tim adrian mark espo fred delione oops wrong thread...
-
Tim, Adrian, Todd, Dave, Kris, Rob...
..oh wait, wrong thread...
-
It is cool that this band can have fans of all it\'s different line-ups.
I have dozens of Trio shows on DVD I have never even watched/listened to and maybe I should revisit some of those shows now with some time passed.
-
I\'d say Tim, Adrian, Chris and Matty was the best line up.

I think having Chris in the band was the best decision the Breakfast could have made. He is a very talented bass player and really elevates the musicianship on the rest of the band. That being said, I think my favorite lineup was the power trio. As Zuke mentioned, they were incredibly tight. The combonation of less moving parts and a great chemistry really came across well during that short stretch. Maybe i\'m biased because that is the period where I saw the most breakfast shows, but I love that lineup.
8.5.06 FTW!!!

wow, that\'s a pretty difficult question. i think chris is better musically than ron was, but (obviously) hasn\'t had the reps/chemistry that ron did. and while i really prefer a lineup with (fulltime) keys, no incarnation was as tight as the trio. considering i wasn\'t really around for the heyday of PB, and the trio never sat well with me (for whatever reasons), i guess i\'ll go with the current group. best musicianship and songwriting they\'ve ever had...even if we don\'t get as many shows as we\'d like.
-
i\'m with ya, but miss D5
-
I\'m really loving the current line-up more than anything since Save left.
They don\'t play as often so I was thinking it was just a case of what get I appreciate more but this band listens more and reacts swifter than any line-up prior resulting in some amazing moments more often even in playing the same songs so often.
I have been listening to a lot of \'05/\'06 which I consider to be the height of the band to that point and while they were pulling off some great music, what they do now on the reg is incredible.
How about you all?
