Title: Moment of silence for Bob Sheppard
Post by: Drew_Kingsley on July 11, 2010, 10:46:47 pm
Bob Sheppard\'s first game (April 17, 1951) featured eight Hall of Famers: Ted Williams, Lou Boudreau, Bobby Doerr, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, Johnny Mize and the Major League debut of a 19-year-old from Commerce, Oklahoma named Mickey Charles Mantle.

Number 2... Derek Jeter... Number 2.

Do they have a Sports Announcer Hall of Fame?

I don\'t think so, but if they can put non-players such as managers and owners in the Hall, then he should get a spot right there with them...

I agree since its the Baseball Hall of Fame and announcers are part of the game in some way shape or form but after this past tour and seeing HoF\'s for just about everything thought maybe one existed even if in infancy. Gonna check it out on the g0ogle and see what it says.

They definitely do have a HoF for Sports Announcers.

His voice was such a part of Yankee stadium I hope I will never forget it...

Not sure you ever can.

It amazes me that he had been the announcer since 1951 and has seen virtually every great Yankee play baseball.

Sports announcers lost an icon today. Do they have a Sports Announcer Hall of Fame?
