I did get this converted with Audacity. I\'m still not sure why I had problems before. Great set! Seriously deep Synergy and Puppetry! The new tunes shred!

frolfer, if you open the 16/44 wav files, is there a normal-looking waveform?  maybe you inverted the phase on one so they cancel each other out...

Either way, you should be able to take the original files and convert them again.  Try using SoX.  http://sox.sourceforge.net/

I was listening to this show the other night and boy it blew my mind. The whole show from start to finish is great. The Puppetry, in memory of Elizabeth reed and the Tunage Stood way out in my Opinion. I Usually Don\'t get in to vocal jams that much but this time the Tunage Vocal jam was flawless. Nice job guys wish i was there for this one sounds like a lot of fun.

Hi,

this is a techie type question to save those that aren\'t that interested in this sort of thing.

And yes, this is back to the 16-bit thing so cue audience groaning
But this does go deeper. I have downloaded the flac files and run them thru Audacity so they come back out at 16/44.1. When I try to listen to the new wavs, however, there is no sound. I did check things like, is the volume on? mute? and stuff like that, and I even went so far as to burn a disc and same thing, silence. My cd player does read that there are X number of tracks etc and it appears to play normally but no sound.

This is the only show that I have come across where this occurs. I have used Audacity for something else and everything came out fine. This is a tasty little show and worth the effort!

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

They were a power trio on this, and at times they sound like Cream at their best, just crunching it out. Hot fuckin\' Breakfast.

I like it. I have not listened to this show before and I jumped right into the DMB. Adrian\'s versions are a different beast altogether than the one\'s with Jordan on lead. I have to imagine that drumming and singing at the same time has to be a little difficult. He never ceases to amaze.

Frenetic. This version is raw and primal, in your face with aggressive, muscular playing. The pace is a little quicker than other versions. I almost get the sense that the band could overheat and spontaneously com bust.

The jam > Sundance that follows is really quite nice! I\'ve been wanting to experience one of these boat cruises for awhile now.

thanks for thinking of me!

I keep coming back to this one lately. Love the Butterfly. Love it! Same with Blessing. This band is such a blessing!

Puppetry reaches nuclear meltdown proportions and CMSS is a funky monster.

http://www.archive.org/details/TheBreakfastAtBaruchPerformingArtsCenter

oh my god, Its a MP3 source on archive! I\'m melting - ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Noooooooooooooooooooooo........... Helpppppp... meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......

Etree does not accept mp3 sources, The audio source has to be a Lossless (flac or original wave).

I guess MP3 is better than nothing.

at lease for the people that can\'t figure out mp3/flac they can stream the show.

Artist/Composer should be changed to "the breakfast"
no show date or location. can that be added?

thanks!

I also find the thread title has turned very ironic.

I checked in last night to download and then upload to the llama and was very glad I read the replies before I got started.

please have a go at it if ya have the time... half of what u just said went over my head right now :rooster:, but i\'ll def check that out tomorrow.  it sounds like the 24 bit issue is whats causing my troubles.  as for the "Intro" track: nope, i think i just plain forgot that in the track listing .txt, lol, it was an incredibly haphazard process ;).  upload this joint if ya can; with all the troubles, i still love learning about this stuff

It really is Eschers III & IV.   EIII has the strummy beginning into the power lead.  EV starts right off with the slide-like opening lead.

So, you split off Sylvia, split up Eschers, and combined the 2 Tunage tracks...  Right?

Did you just toss that 1:01 encore "Intro" track #10?

Depending on the flac frontend--or the LAME encoder--you have, it may not handle the 24 bit files.

Do you want me to take a crack at this, or do you have enough info to do it yourself?  Sounds like you have the WAV files all tracked out in Audacity already.  Just change your WAV Export settings...

Preferences, Uncompressed Export Format, "WAV (Microsoft 16 bit PCM)"  On the Quality tab, set the High-quality dither to "Triangle."

You can also use "snap-to" and the "cdda" selection format to get it to break files on sector boundaries.  Or clean them up afterward in Traders Little Helper.

HTH

um, i\'ll try my best to post what i had...

Quote
01- Shotgun Butterfly 4:32
02- Synergy 19:15
03- Sylvia 3:25 >
04- Puppetry 12:41

05- Blessing In the Skies 5:20
06- Cut Me Some Slack 10:42
07- Escher\'s Etchings V > 7:34
08- Escher\'s Etchings IV 4:43

09- In Memory of Elizabeth Reed 21:43
10- Tunage* 19:07
Encore:
11- Question** 6:48

* With "Homework Jam"
** Moody Blues

bolded what i changed.  went original flacs > wav (via flac frontend decoder), then edited waves in audacity to above tracking [i think this is where the disruption/distortion happened], then tried re-encoding to flac (via frontend) which failed [only on the tracks i edited], then i upped the edited .wav files to LMA and setup the info.... when I checked LMA streaming player (and later the edited .wav\'s), there was a weird buzzing/electrical disruption noise in the tracks that I had edited in audacity.  give it a go and let me know what happens; i may mess around with it some more tommorrow just to learn more about this complex subject called audio

if anyone makes cents of that i congratulate you ;)

I just grabbed the last file.  I\'ll take a stab at it and let you know.  It would be ideal to get md5 checksums on the original wav files...

The WAVs are 24-bit audio.  They have to be downsampled (with dither) to 16-bit for CD Audio.

Cannontrip, what did you do to re-track the files?  PM me if you want to take this offline.

I tried downloading a file again and it still will not convert. I don\'t have TLH, just been using flac frontend to convert to wav.

I hope you can get this up on the archive.

i was able to decode the flac\'s successfully, but was having all kinds of trouble after that. I had everything on LMA last night; but when I tested the streaming files, some kind of noise was added on the tracks that I split/merged in Audacity.  i\'m leaving ths to the pros...

TLH says the original files are ok
Quote
01-Shotgun.flac:  tested ok (file is decodable without error).
02-Synergy.flac:  tested ok (file is decodable without error).
03-Puppetry.flac:  tested ok (file is decodable without error).
04-Blessing In The Skies.flac:  tested ok (file is decodable without error).
05-Cut Me Some Slack.flac:  tested ok (file is decodable without error).
06-Escher\'s Etchings 3 & 4.flac:  tested ok (file is decodable without error).
07-In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.flac:  tested ok (file is decodable without error).
08-Tunage.flac:  tested ok (file is decodable without error).
09-Tunage.flac:  tested ok (file is decodable without error).
10-Intro.flac:  tested ok (file is decodable without error).
11-Question.flac:  tested ok (file is decodable without error).

No errors occured.

Thanks for this!!  my first breakfast download in 2010.  I\'m doing some audio work tonight so I\'ll see if I can split the Puppetry track and get this on LMA at some point

3:24 seems right on, thanks tuna!

*and Escher\'s Etchings 3 & 4 is actually Escher\'s Etchings V > IV (anyone care to verify that?)

Thanks for recording this; I tend to forget just how ser this whole band is ;)

and an Escher\'s 5>4>3>2>1 would be outta control

and how about new year\'s recording so we can hear I-V!!  can we start a donation fund to pay for post-processing?

bringing back the vocal jam during tunage :jawdrop:!  never mind, I\'m angry at this recording!  I could have pretended I wasn\'t missing much before I heard this :madbananna:

i dont think so. i could have flacs posted in 20 mins if i wanted to do that.

having seen your skills in action, I wouldn\'t doubt it.
so who/what is the hold up on nye?  is it deciding what to do with it or how to do it most profitably?  i\'m not intending to point the finger at anyone, just trying to figure out how i can help ;)

Audacity is giving me trouble as usual.  "cannot export .flac to ..." errors

i think its being hoarded just for the sake of being hoarded.

To make things easier I\'ve uploaded the show as an MP3 which are much smaller files and easier to play. The sound may not be quite as good but is still worthwhile. Enjoy.
Also, I would love it if someone could upload these onto Archive. I have not been able to master that.
