get used to it tuna! wait til you have taped so many things that you have 30 unprocessed and unlabeled shows on your hard drive with 20 people hounding you for each one because they were at the show and want it!!
Frolfer... I\'ll upload the FLACs for this and Red Square and let you put em on archive... I\'m not too savvy about that exactly.
Way tired tonight though... probably have Mill St FLACs up tomorrow and hopefully Red Square as well.
the audio bit rate is # of audio channels x sample rate x bit depth x seconds = (kbps) kilobits-per-second
that is being confused with bit depth described below
Lets put it in perspective:
The audio bit depth (16bit, 24bit) refers to the dynamic range of the audio source measured in db (decibels).
1 bit = 6 db
CD audio is 16 bit and has a dynamic rage of 96 db
24 bit audio has a dynamic rage of 144 db.
The human hearing system has a dynamic range of about 120 dB between the THRESHOLD OF HEARING to the THRESHOLD OF PAIN
Threshold of hearing
0 dB
Motorcycle (30 feet)
88 dB
Rustling leaves
20 dB
Foodblender (3 feet)
90 dB
Quiet whisper (3 feet)
30 dB
Subway (inside)
94 dB
Quiet home
40 dB
Diesel truck (30 feet)
100 dB
Quiet street
50 dB
Power mower (3 feet)
107 dB
Normal conversation
60 dB
Pneumatic riveter (3 feet)
115 dB
Inside car
70 dB
Chainsaw (3 feet)

Quote from: jking;253484what about a situation where my home computer can play .ogg, but my ipod can\'t? should i get a linux .ogg player now, too? i\'m not nearly tech minded enough to hack my ipod...
you sorry chipped yourself the day you bought an ipod. but at least you will look cool with the name brand player!
my sansa fuze plays every format including flac and ogg. only cost $20 including shipping and has an sd-micro card slot so i can put in a card up to 32GB.
I\'ve been wondering this for a while: If flac and wav are Lossless formats, why isn\'t that a set bitrate? Meaning why is 24 bit wav superior to 16 or 8 bit wav? Is anything Lost when going from a 24 bit wav file to a 16 bit? or am I comparing different things, i.e. the 24 bit sampling refers to fidelity vs mp3 bitrate referring to % compression.
i just made myself far more confused by asking that.
Not doing it for the band. Doing it for the fans.
i truly appreciate the taping and spreading, but if the music is spread in a format that is disconcerting or difficult for the majority of folks, what good is it doing for the fans?

I\'m a busy guy, Matt!
As long as most ppl who want to can hear the music and it sounds reasonably good, that\'s my first priority.
Also, I am not a taper, I\'m a tuna fish. With a recorder. My intent is all for your delight. One way or another, I hope you get to hear it :)

BTW I have the FLACs. Nobody asked for them :P
What I\'m trying to give you salty little panty lickers is choice! FLAC/OGG/MP3 ... **** ask me and I\'ll send you the original file in the mail.
Whiners! <3

your best bet would probably be to decode to .wav files, drop the wav files into itunes, then create an mp3 version of the wav files and transfer those mp3s. yeah your files are going to be even worse quality than the original ogg files, but at least you don\'t need to get a whole new player

Personally the .ogg sounds better, .
I have d/l the the ogg files now as well as the MP3. ..I have extracted zip files before. this time it\'s not happenin\'...when I only get two songs to d/l . and i don\'t like 7 Up. Just thought maybe the LMA would be an option. Thanks BDtuna for the update.
In the meantime before the solar crisis wipes out all GPS and cell phone comm, can someone please put this show on the LMA? Flac or MP3 would be dee-luxe.
i\'m not bitching about free music...i\'m bitching about computers and now about people who tell me how easy it is. i spend enough time working in front of a computer (when it works right) what im saying is.....you\'re not going to sell me a download. not me. not ever....again. as for downloading shows, for me, it turns out to be nothing but a lot of time that i don\'t have, a lot of frustration that i have way too much of already and rarely worth the effort imho. by the time i figure it out, i\'ve lost interest. it becomes more of a job than a hobby....and i don\'t need anymore of either.

i dont bother with >\'s in the filename anymore. as long as its in the tag its good enough for me.
Oh, good to know... wasn\'t aware of that which Chris just brought to light. Will keep to simple characters in the future :)
Ubuntu 9.10, yes... you guys are lucky I didn\'t make an encrypted tar.bz2 archive for y\'all to crack open. Linux is free software, so what\'s the excuse? ;)
Quote from: oldnewbie;253270if jerry himself came back for one day just to sing standing on the moon... i wouldn\'t go through that much trouble. downloading sucks and i hate it. i\'ve heard that live as is is pretty good....but i\'ll never know. what a **** pain in the ass. who\'s got time for that crap.certainly not me. anyone who does...should start checking the want ads a little closer. end of rant.
sorry almost the end....if you\'re going to sell me anything, you better be able to put it in my hands (working) or deliver it to my door....otherwise....not interested. i don\'t want to have to work to buy something from you.
LMAO! If jerry came back to play a show on the moon i would build a rocket, a space suit, and record it, even though the vacuum of space would not allow it. lol. If you don\'t know how to download, anything, you are certainly missing out, and at no ones expense but your own. Thousands of bands post free music on the internet all the time in hope that people will take time to listen. Not sure if you\'ve ever heard of it but if you right click links on your mouse, (thats the other button) you can save files directly to your computer. or does your electronic typewriter not do that? Also i don\'t know why people don\'t read entire threads before posting. If you did you would see the easily downloadable MP3 file from send space. Who **** about free music? (End Rant)

I seem to only have Reel Time and Blessing in the Skies in the compressed files...
Those files show up because the file is compressed. You need to unzip the file to attain all of the songs in the set. 7Zip works well and is free.
I was having the same problems/errors when extracting with winace. I then tried extracting with 7Zip as suggested above and had success. Try extracting the files with a different zip program than the one you used.

My misguided ideals, was to come up with a way to generate money off The Breakfast shows, so the band could survive into the future.
.info is a forum to discuss these issues.
If the discussion ends, then so does the music.
p.s.I would like some respect from you great fans out there.
I put thousands of hours into The Breakfast and also thousands of dollars into promoting the band.
When you people can match that, then criticize my efforts.
Did anyone else have problems with the download?

Ken your ridiculous nonsensical ramblings are indeed pushing people away. Knowing that you are one of the older members of the crowd I am beyond surprised to see you on here complaining like a child. Until the band makes a formal statement about audience taping not being allowed, THEN IT IS!! JUST AS THEIR TAPING POLICY STATES LIKE FITZ ALREADY POSTED IN YOUR OTHER idiotic thread.
I would hate for new potential B\'fast to come onto a message board and see you making your own rules for a band, and complaining about free taping, I would be turned off. and i\'m sure I am not the only one who feels this way.
THIS IS THE OFFICAL TAPING POLICY!!!!!!!!!!! If it is no longer the offical taping policy then a bandmember needs to step in and change it and make a public announcement. Not send word through an angry old man with misguided ideals.
Taping Policy
http://www.thebreakfast.net/content.php?music=taping
The Breakfast Taping Policy
The Breakfast encourages the taping and trading of our live performances. We feel that each show is unique and want to extend the ability to our fans to recreate the live experience long after the show ends.
Audience Taping is permitted at almost all The Breakfast shows. When The Breakfast is performing at a festival or other events featuring multiple bands, that particular event\'s policy may override The Breakfast\'s customary taping policy. When The Breakfast is opening for another artist, that particular artist\'s policy may override The Breakfast\'s customary taping policy. All taping is limited to audience taping only. No soundboard patches will be given. No video will be allowed ever. Still photography without flash is allowed and encouraged at all The Breakfast shows.
All participants in audio recording exchange (regardless of format) acknowledge and respect the copyrights and exclusive ownership of the music and performances by the performers, writers and publishers. All taping must be for personal use only, which may include trading (via analog or digital tape, CD, or digital file transfer). Recordings may be traded only for an equivalent amount of similar media (cassettes or CDs, pre-recorded or blank). In no case may any officially released The Breakfast recording (live or studio) be duplicated or otherwise traded or offered.
All Audience Taping at The Breakfast concerts is authorized for non-commercial purposes only. Unauthorized sale, duplication and / or distribution are strictly forbidden. All The Breakfast\'s performances and recordings are the exclusive property of The Breakfast. All rights reserved. The rights to record The Breakfast performances set forth in this policy constitute and express, revocable license. We reserve the right to withdraw our sanction of recording, tape trading and / or non-commercial digital audio file transfers on a case specific basis or in general, as we deem necessary. No waiver of any copyright or trademark right is intended.
The enjoyment our audience in attendance at a The Breakfast concert is always our first and foremost comment.
BTW Thanks again Tuna for a great recording!!
I\'m the .info PRICK, just doing my job!

omg thank you! this flac business was killing me!
Sorry I see no reason to encode in a proprietary format over OGG which is a free standard.
If you are using iTunes there is a codec extension for Quicktime that should play OGGs.
http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/download.html
Otherwise I recommend http://www.getsongbird.com for a similar but better audio player that is cross-platform. Or really any audio player that doesn\'t run on the mega-proprietary Apple Quicktime engine.
I will send you the WAV of the whole concert if you want you can make MP3s out of it. Not tryin\' to be dick.. it would just take me like another hour to do it over as MP3s. You should try to listen to the OGGs I made though, they sound great :)
Sorry I see no reason to encode in a proprietary format over OGG which is a free standardbecause to transcode it to mp3 causes people to go from one lossless format to another, thus degrading the overall quality. why not use the universal standard? why not put it up in lossless/wav format to begin with, then people can do whatever they want with it with out an extra lossy stage in between? its like putting it up in beta when everyone has a vhs...
The eleven years of free Breakfast music has brought the band to bankruptcy.
