Title: The Arena Philadelphia, PA
Post by: peaches626 on November 28, 2009, 01:30:48 am
haha, i remember thinking "wow, jam into queeb to open a set at 2:18 am... what did i get myself into?"

unfortunately, all the breakfast set ended up being was the jam into a 28 min queeb that was like those old toyota commercials (hot!hot!hot!)

then molitz and dj logic came out...
this superjam set was awesome, very cool jams comin outta these dudes... though i will admit i was so pooped that i was sittin down to take breaks pretty frequently...

dj logic was totally diggin adrians moves on the kit

dangledooze was singin a song at one point in a jam, but i forget what it was...?

the place was a good size, im thinkin a little bigger than the webster, with big high ceilings like ur in the structure of a BJ\'s wholesale or something.  the sound was a little funny with how open the room was.  crowd couldn\'t have been more than a couple hunj, even with the philly nitrous mafia roamin hard out front of the building for 4 hrs...

i think they stopped just before 5 am. i proceeded to take a 4 hr nap in my car before gearin up for the next day on phish lot....

Last night\'s setlist was only jam>Buquebus. I looked at what time it was about 15 minutes into the opening jam. It was 2:18. Total set time was around 45-50 mins.

wait, you were there, todd?  didnt see ya, shitty. glad that jam>queeb was taped!

Thanks to those who came. Ser jamming last night. I wish we could of played more Breakfast too but either way, to jam with Logic, Molitz, Waldman, and Ken with Psychedelphia (bad mofo on the guitar watch out for him!), it was amazing. a huge collage and collective of sound that was never stale for big jams can get hairy. wish all of you could of been there. oh yeah and i\'m eternally grateful to play music with Jordan, Chris, and Adrian! peace

11/19 thru 11/26 early AM:

Some kind of \'what the ****\' stretch for T-Palms and Co!!!!

That doesn\'t mean I get to go to all these shows.  It\'s looking like only Kung Fu for me.  Thankful nonetheless.

im a little fuzzy but here is what i got....

they started at about 2am. came out with a ser jam> Queeb which was a beast. i wish i timed it cause it had to be approaching what seemed like 30mins.  40 total with the opening ser jam.  and i now as im typing this i just blanked on what was next.  after, steve molitz came out  for some jamming followed by willie waldman and dj logic.  there was some really good improv going on and dangle was a monster.

at about 320 i started fading hard. decided i would stay for a little longer, glad i did. willie left, steve laid back, dangle set a groove and dj logic went off for a good few mins.  i believe tim was pumping his fist at this point in time.  after this exchange i hung for a few more mins, willie came back out, i decided to bounce.

wish there was more time of just the breakfast lastnight but i had a blast either way. place was byob, there were tanks everwhere outside and not a taper in sight, which was a shame.  wonder how late they played til.  Mason was there, he will prolly be able to fill in holes in my story. i type this sitting in the back of my friends fan on the way back to philly for rd2. hope they can touch lastnight.

Sorry. I live about an hour outside of Philly...and I\'m a busy/old(ish) guy who hasn\'t kept up with facebook and the like (i know...lame age excuse).

I love the Breakfast and always bring some people to shows and spread the word in PA (and beyond, in the old days), but I won\'t be able to help much beyond that. I just wanted whomever it may concern to understand what they may be dealing with, from my limited experiences with the Arena.

Thanks for the suggestions, though. I hope someone runs with them!

sjell ... you sound local to the venue... have you got posters to hang up? Facebook is a pretty neat tool for getting people excited and organized to hit up an event. Get some buzz goin :)

Phantasy Tour Phish thread should probably get bumped with positive comments from time to time. And assuming the show kicks ass, which I\'m sure it will, with comments about how much the guys from Breakfast killed it that night after the show. Lots of people are reading PT: Phish now that they\'re about to tour again.

Good looks. peace!

And who\'s got a ride for DJ Dizzy K now? Sorry man I can\'t swing these shows on weekdays :/
Title: The Arena Philadelphia, PA
Post by: sjell on November 18, 2009, 12:06:19 pm
This venue has a history of not promoting or even posting concerts on its website. A couple years ago, the Mike Gordon Band was scheduled there, but it was never posted on the Arena website. A day or two before the event, it was moved to a much smaller club. Rumor was that no one knew about it, for obvious reasons.

So far, I haven\'t seen this show listed on the Arena website. I\'m not sure how much this will affect turnout, but I\'m sure it will be very important for us to continue talking about this (It sounds like you guys are doing your share and I beg that this doesn\'t turn into a management bashing thread.....just sayin\').

The epic nature of this show coupled with the lack of late-night, apre-phish activities could lead to a great crowd, if the word gets out!

However .. if this runs like everything else.. no one will even know it happened..

I agree. Brand it and sell it to the people. There is enough names there to pull fans in.
