What the funk people..... was this show cancelled or was it that bad that nobody has even mentioned their experience????

Rough days for TB on .info... no setlist, no review, nutttin.

Nevermind.. I see that there have been some reactions in this thread. However, the lack of front page updates by mods for a Halloween show is unacceptable.

Working on the setlist.  Picking it apart from the recording of 2nd set.  Does anyone recall which song(s) Adrian was playing guitar?

Looks like the first set is covered, but I\'ll double check that, too.

I thought it was only "Maggot Brain"

anyone got the pfunk setlist? ...so I can get started on kicking myself in the face for not going.

I wish I was more knowledgeable of their song names... I would have done it.  Back further down the thread there\'s some of the songs that they played but not in sequential order.  The last song was a 15 min medley with a ton of things in there.

Dare I ask if this was recorded?

Gluft was on top of it!

I tried to reply to this earlier, but it disappeared...

A quick review of the recording sounds good.  Sorry for the slow turnaround, but I\'m going to work with Chris Fitz to mix together the soundboard feed and what came through the microphones.  Should be a sweet matrix and worth the wait.

...maybe I\'ll track it out and sendspace some MP3s to share the funk.

Any luck figuring out the tracklisting for the 2nd set yet?  Its funny how everyone recognizes songs from the set, just none of them in any particular order.

I can do it if you don\'t know how ken. you have to split the tracks first, and then upload them all one at a time, and being all hd files it will take a very long time.

Title: The Field; Bridgeport, CT
Post by: Ren on November 01, 2009, 11:22:41 am
...yeah rufus needs a rest every now and again.  Got there at just about 1:00, due to work, got a beer found Jen, and had about 3 seconds to spare before Maggot Brain started.  That was pretty much the one song I didn\'t want to miss considering I haven\'t seen it since, oh uh, the short beach saloon show on 1/6/01, kinda been dying for it ever since.  Let\'s just say was NOT disappointed, blown away would be more appropriate.  Pretty cool to see Rico Lewis play the drums while Adrian played guitar too.  Clearly the highlight of my night and had I seen nothing else, I would\'ve totally been satisfied.  But luckily that wasn\'t the case.  Wish I knew the names to all the other songs.  I mean I knew them, but never knew the names.  I was glad to hear a favorite that Deep Banana Blackout played all the time, I think it\'s called, Verge?  Whatever, seeing the roughly 45 mins. that I got was more than enough to completely satisfy my needs...musically.  Tim said there was no time for a P-Funk medley, so I the played one, that didn\'t make any sense to me, but it was funny, I think that crazy little **** would have done every song in their catalog if there was time, and been totally happy to do it.  I don\'t know as much P-funk that I should, according to some, more than I thought, but was that an impromptu freestyle by Rico during on of their songs, it had an old school feel to it, but sounded off the top of the head.

They should really consider doing that again, maybe throw a horn or two into the mix...

Definitely not ghetto.  I like this little stretch of fairfield avenue.

Bar closes at 2 (the first one). Daylight saving time this weekend.

I\'m at the Field now drinking a Guinness and watching the game.

True that the sports crowd regulars don\'t give a hoot about the music scene.  Too bad.

never been to the field before. its not in the ghetto of bridgeport is it? decent scene?

Ha!  Field is def. not in the ghetto...it\'s practically Fairfield.  The scene is pretty beat though.  Typical FFLD heads that have ZERO interest in the Breakfast.  There will be people getting down, but there is a sharp division btwn the two sides of the bar

Glad someone finally asked this question. I\'ve been wondering about this for a while.

See everyone there.

Since Rico Lewis is a drummer, how is this going to effect Adrian\'s playing?  No offense to this guy, but Adrian doesn\'t need a second drummer...

I\'ll bet he brings some of his auxillary percussion stuff (congas, bongos, etc), thats what he did when he played with vinnie amico in the Wille Waldman Projects.  They took turns sitting in on the kit thoughout the night... just a guess though.

Having a seven year old at home means I have not had a proper Halloween show in, well, seven years.  The last day of October is more important than Christmas around here.  I always enjoyed the fongoulish\'s that lead up to the 31st.  No luck for me this year. I would be all over this if I could.  Have fun everybody.

cool!  I don\'t mind obviously, and was only curious.  No harm intended.

None intended from here either. I personally am not a fan of The Field but it is a great venue for the Breakfast.

You can\'t beat a free show and whatever the compensation is both the band and management are willing.

Hopefully, the back bar is open.

The Field gets a lot of traffic via walk-in and people hanging out. If they charged, they would lose more than half of there nightly business. Every show I have seen there, people become engaged with the band.

The band has no problem playing.

Forget out all the things we have no control over and just get out and see the show.
