**** im sorry i will get them out people need to hear this
-
Yeah, getting the originals will be key to this operation.
Ogg Vortex! I like that. :-)
-
I was thinking about trying to upload it to the archive but I think you need to upload the lossless files and they(they being the lama people) derive the mp3s and ogg vortexes and other various lossy formats. I might be wrong about this one. Great show nonetheless!
-
Gavin, we need those CDs!!
-
Anyway we can get this show on archive.org? I like the streaming playlist feature :)
-
Did anything ever come of getting some lossless files of this show?
Buquebus and STL and both show stoppers!
-
progress...!
-
all right here are hte mp3\'s
http://www.sendspace.com/folder/apgizj
-
Good luck getting those back ;)
-
yes i will my friend sorry it\'s taking so long my buddy borrowed them and ran off to college. i will have them out as soon as i can
-
Gavin, were you still going to send the original CDs to me? I can get them into WAV/FLAC/MP3 from there.
-
it does sound pretty good, and is probably fine to convert, especially if these are actual lossless m4a\'s. sometimes you can save lossy files as m4a\'s, too, and if these are lossy transferring them to another lossy format will degrade the overall.... ah, who am i kidding, spread it \'round easily as possible!
-
No it won\'t improve the quality but the quality is already very good, I believe it\'s a pretty high bitrate to begin with at least based on the file sizes. If I convert to WAV > MP3 320kbps or something I doubt it will affect it. And then we will have files that can be put on archive.
If original WAVs do exist, by all means, let\'s have em ;)
-
do you know if these files were lossless or just saved to .m4a? because if they\'re not lossless, then converting them to mp3 (even a high bit rate) won\'t help much.
-
if i knew how i would for ya. thanks tuna def want everyone to hear this its quite the sleeper
-
I only had time to listen to Queeb and Reba last night cuz Gabo was doggin\' me as I was trying to hit the sack ;)
My comments so far..... this may be my favorite Buquebus ever. Certainly among the most unique and beautifully played. The first jam was probably 20 minutes long on its own and was totally inspired and flowed like water the whole way through.
Reba was just simply elegant. I\'ve heard a handful of Breakfast Reba renditions before and thought they were mostly pretty good but didn\'t hold up to Phish on a good night. Probably because previous versions were played more traditionally, starting with the Lawn Boy album cover at the Higher Ground Freakout. This Reba is a total masterpiece and while the jam does capture the super-chill vibe and build-up of a good Reba, it\'s done in a totally unique way. If Trey heard this **** I wouldn\'t be surprised if he wanted to take the song back to the drawing board. Transcendent is the word.
I\'ll listen to the entire show tonight. But unless the rest of the show was an absolute trainwreck (yeah right) Gavin and the boys and girls up in NH got treated to something really special.
The Queeb actually reminded me a lot of the Strange Creek Mayfly...
Anyway this show should definitely not be an "insider secret". Absolutely has to be on archive.org ... maybe AV crew can get that done but I\'m guessing they\'d want the original WAV files.
At the very least I will convert these .m4a files to a high bitrate mp3.zip with a megaupload for y\'all later. T\'was a bit of a pain grabbing these individually from sendspace :P
-
listened to this this morning! very nice show, so much sound from just the three guys!! there were a few lulls (the jam between peaches and the end bit of hlh) but for the most part it just rages!!
-
bumpin this so those of you who havent can hear one of the best queebs of all time
i cringe to think of what would have become of it had jordan been there.
-
this must have been so fun!
-
this show is sick! musta been a swell time had at the ol\' shindigger.
sounds great, nice to hear the vocals so clearly.
-

-
Thanks Gabo, wish I could have been there. Can\'t wait to listen to.
-
cant wait to listen!
-
well, I was able to put the files into itunes also and I was able to make a disc. about to hop in the car for a test listen. Wahoo!
-
You can plug a Firewire cable into Apple computers too ... of course USB works for everyone and is even a little bit faster :P
-
oh and are we talking peaches as in presidents of the united states of america or peaches en regalia?
and sidenote - the files work for me in itunes... i have a macbook with "snow" leopard and they work just fine. haven\'t tried to put em on my ipod yet tho.
-
hmm, I\'m having trouble. I want to try and rename the files, but I can\'t seem to figure out how to do it.
has anyone else tried to do this?
might just have to hold out for gluft.
thanks nonetheless bezerker for getting this out there!

I\'ll keep my rant on proprietary/DRM/non-standard audio/video to myself...
but anyway Songbird is an open source music player very much like iTunes but without all the restrictions and retarded features. It will play .m4a files.
LOL. I can hear the rant in my mind.
I have always been a big fan of foobar2000. I\'m not sure if it has native support for m4a or whatever.

i couldnt get anything to play. what was your buddy smoken when he decided to convert the show into m4a files?
are m4a files itunes and mac based?
Not that I know if it makes any difference or not.
.MP4 versus .M4A file extensions
The existence of two different file extensions for naming audio-only MP4 files has been a source of confusion among users and multimedia playback software. Since MPEG-4 Part 14 is a container format, MPEG-4 files may contain any number of audio, video, and even subtitle streams, making it impossible to determine the type of streams in an MPEG-4 file based on its filename extension alone. In response, Apple Inc. started using and popularizing the .m4a file extension. Software capable of audio/video playback should recognize files with either .m4a or .mp4 file extensions, as would be expected, as there are no file format differences between the two. Most software capable of creating MPEG-4 audio will allow the user to choose the filename extension of the created MPEG-4 files.
While the only official file extension defined by the standard is .mp4, various file extensions are commonly used to indicate intended content:
* MPEG-4 files with audio and video generally use the standard .mp4 extension.
* Audio-only MPEG-4 files generally have a .m4a extension. This is especially true of non-protected content.
o MPEG-4 files with audio streams encrypted by FairPlay Digital Rights Management as sold through the iTunes Store use the .m4p extension. iTunes Plus tracks are unencrypted and use .m4a accordingly.
o Audio book and podcast files, which also contain metadata including chapter markers, images, and hyperlinks, can use the extension .m4a, but more commonly use the .m4b extension. An .m4a audio file cannot "bookmark" (remember the last listening spot), whereas .m4b extension files can.
o The Apple iPhone uses MPEG-4 audio for its ringtones but uses the .m4r extension rather than the .m4a extension.
* Raw MPEG-4 Visual bitstreams are named .m4v but this extension is also sometimes used for video in MP4 container format.[16]
* Mobile phones use 3GP, an implementation of MPEG-4 Part 12 (a.k.a MPEG-4/JPEG2000 ISO Base Media file format), similar to MP4. It uses .3gp and .3g2 extensions. These files also store non-MPEG-4 data (H.263, AMR, TX3G).
The common but non-standard use of the extensions .m4a and .m4v is due to the popularity of Apple’s iPod, iPhone, and iTunes Store. Without modification, Nintendo\'s DSi and Sony\'s PSP can also play M4A
If you are having trouble playing .m4a try simply remaning the files with a .mp4 extension. that works a lot of the time
