I just want derick to confirm or deny that the thread title\'s close resemblance to a popular Salt N Pepa song is, in fact, intentional on his part and not coincidence.
Lol, ya mean Valtrex, baby? lmao
Since this is about prescription drugs, i will get up on my soap box and rant....
There is a HUGE HUGE HUGE game being played between doctors>pharmaceutical companies>insurance companies>pharmacies. Its a big racket that has been getting bigger for the last decade or more. I started as a Pharm Tech in 1997 worked as one till 2004. The increase in certain medications, certain medications people NEED is insane. I also saw the abuse increase which is just as sad.
Besides that, I\'ve seen the evil workings of some of these Evil Empires (Pharmacies). I worked for the district office at one of these and saw how they spill sooooo much money into Pharmacists and their pay (giving outrageous incentives just to cover stores) instead of cutting slack to poor eldery customers...or any customers at all...(or even throwing a bone to their WAAAY underpaid techs....who make barely over minimum wage if they are lucky.) If you shop around the same medication, you will find that all pharmacies differ, depending on their mark up. It makes me sick. Besides my pharmacy experience, i worked for a doctor\'s office as a medical secretary. You would be surprised at how many prescriptions get written because the doctor is taken out for a swanky lunch or a game of golf by a drug rep. I could go on for days about how disgusted i am with certain areas of the medical community. BE CAREFUL WHO YOUR DOCTOR IS. Sometimes they are CLUELESS on what they prescribe. BEWARE OF YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY. THEY ARE MOST LIKELY TRYING TO RIP YOU OFF. And the pharmacy, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS read your labels and make sure you have the RIGHT medicine in your bottle.
Okay, done now.
I agree with this. The bureaucracy is foul! I can\'t say that one universal insurance would correct this, largely because the quality would go way down, esp. in service at doctor\'s offices...Time waiting... Gov\'t regulated free insurance already doesn\'t work; i.e. medicare and medicaid.

actually, i split off all these posts from the \'news of the weird\' thread, and yes, it was intentional.

i don\'t know what you guys think, but my personal opinion is if you don\'t have a job and are collecting the last thing you should be doing is having kids.....
Pfizer has more than 150 prescription drug that are not for erectile disfuction... Some of them include:
Lipitor - for cholesterol
Celebrex - painkiller
Lyrica - for fibromyalgia
Zithromax - antibiotic
Are you telling me that at some point, you haven\'t been prescribed a Z-Pack? This isn\'t costing taxpayers any money and will do well to repair some of the ill-will that people have towards the pharmaceutical industry... Unless Pfizer increases the cost of their products to cover the cost of this effort, I don\'t see how this is a bad idea (once you get past the fact that **** is only one of many drugs that Pfizer produces)...
I have never been prescribed any of these nor would I take them. Other than bayer asprin on rare occasions or once or twice a year when I get a REALLY bad cold something like nyquill, I pretty much never take medication.
Paul - that\'s great that you don\'t have to take medicines all that often, but it is a reality that a lot of people need to use prescription drugs to get through daily life. Personally, I\'m on Zithromax, Avelox or Levaquin for chronic sinus infections and I use Xyzal pills and Veramyst and Astelyn sprays for daily allergies... This is a good program for people that "need" to use prescription drugs... If you choose not to use them, that\'s cool too...
Have you considered getting allergy shots to decrease the environmental stress on your body? I wonder, have you had your house tested for various allergens... Mold? Do you use a HEPA filter and AC?
I have considered allergy shots, but I\'m not really that into constantly getting shots to keep my allergies at bay when a small pill and two sprays take care of the problem. I have considered getting the Turbinate shots, but it hasn\'t been that bad this year. I\'ve had allergies as long as I can remember no matter where I lived... That and sinus infections...
what about the people that have 80 co-pays for meds..... how about helping those people out rather than give **** away for free. my girl takes allergy meds and her copay for just one of them went from 30 up to 80 so if you think this is really coming out of the companies pockets your serly mistaken.
I sympathize with "your girl", I really do... I had that problem with my insurance at work and when it was time to re-up, I selected different options so that I may pay a little more out of my check, but my co-pays are less... And I know that you don\'t want to hear this, but the $80 is probably a fraction of what you would be paying without insurance... Imagine if you still needed that medication and you didn\'t have a job, what would you do then?

In New Jersey I\'m sure you can just drink your tap water and get all the drugs you need.
Another nock on Jersey, how original... I just don\'t understand the bad feelings towards prescription drugs...
I agree...better living through chemistry.

I\'m not saying that we\'re working with a perfect system... But if I\'m sick and theirs a drug out there that will cure or help with my sickness, I\'m going to take it...

Pharmaceutical companies are just government-endorsed drug dealers. Where\'s the cancer cures for **** sake? Plenty of "depression" and "limp dick" pills though, that\'s for sure.
It\'s so rediculous that when their patent runs out on something they just come out with an "XR" version of the same **** and come up with some bullshit to make doctors (half of which are basically full time pharmie peddlers) think it\'s a new and improved version, and therefore people should not save money on generics.
Not to mention a large portion of opiate, benzo, and amphetamine based pharmaceutical are diverted to the black market... Xanax is probably the most addictive drug in the world. In fact many of these benzodiazapines and SSRIs are not only addictive but have dangerous withdrawl symptoms including possible seizure and brain-zaps. Opiate withdrawl is a walk in the park, relatively (but, besides heroin, they\'ve got that market covered too). You think they aren\'t fully aware of this and raking in big bucks on the side as a result?
reality, hello
 at these **** though, can\'t put a patent on the best general purpose medicine in the world... cannabis! (although you better believe they are synthesizing every possible THC related compound they can think of to replace mother nature as soon as possible... too bad its hard to find ones that don\'t get you high/stoned... bummer)

quit trying to read between the lines ass hat and read the whole comment before you throw your worthless 2 cents in. **** pump in a pill is just 1 of 150, you name 4 more. what about the other 145, how useful are all of those. and if you think part of your insurance premium isn\'t paying for this your crazy. nobody gives something for nothing.
