Bills Bar is under construction is what I hear.
-
so much for this... sheesh
-
i tried emailing bills saying i would love to see the breakfast there after the phish show and think it could really be a special night if they played, but email got returned from the address.. info@billsbar.com
-
yeah i quoted the wrong quote. disregard.
-
thats not what i was talking about.... i\'m sure either one of them could play each other\'s tunes. they\'re both very talented.
i\'m talking about the breakfast\'s fans taking a negative attitude towards the possibility of new and exciting opportunities.
-
Phish probably can\'t play Breakfast at all....
but Breakfast does not play Phish better than Phish on a good night. Get real :P
I\'m guessing that if Phish wanted to play TB, they could...
I honestly think Trey couldn\'t play half the **** that Tim gets perfect every time. Trey would flub the schnot outta most composed Breakfast guitar. Fishman would hafta step up his game as well. this is silly/stupid to consider anyways.

Truth.

thank u jedi master.

those of you who naysay actually decrease the chances of these things happening. the universe WILL respond to the energy we put out there. we are creating our own reality.

Mmmmm....i doubt this will happen.

Before anyone gets moving on plans for this, has the band heard anything back from Bill\'s Bar or the management/booking on whether this is happening or even likely to happen?
-
right because you definitely won\'t be able to hear the phish show from the street outside of fenway. people will certainly be bored and looking for something to do.
there will still be a big crowd at funky bills or whatever its called no matter what

The math here doesn\'t quite add up. ThePhish show is pretty unlikely to equal one Breakfast set in length, no?
no, you\'re right, they\'d be playing for hours if they did it continously. What saying is do 3 or 4 sets:
set 1: pre phish doors by an hour or so > a little after everyone starts to leave, take a set break
set 2/3: 30 min later, play 1 or 2 sets during the phish show
set 3/4: start playing again when phish starts their encore and play another hour/hour and a half set.
Do that, you keep the people who don\'t have tickets in bills bar, and as the show is ending in fenway everyone is getting the messages to come over and check out this band.
of course, they\'d still have to book a show...
-
what they should do is get live setlist updates from someone in the phish show and play the exact same setlist during the phish show. whoever\'s taping then starts burning discs like a madman and handing them out to people leaving fenway. they listen and realize that they should have been at bill\'s instead... eh?
rotfl OMG!!! rotfl
-
my first breakfast show was a single 3 or 4 hour set...

pre and post are both moot points. the facts are:
there are more people who want to see phish at fenway than the building can hold
those people will go regardless
they will need something to do once they realize they can\'t get in.
hence, breakfast should play a 3 set show. do a pre show, once the crowd thins to go to fenway, take a break for a half hour or so and they come back on and do a show while phish is playing for all the people stuck outside and looking for something to do. fenway doesn\'t have a lot, so they\'re not going to be able to tailgate which means they\'ll be crowding the bars. play for those people. bills will love it because they\'ll be pulling in an even larger crowd than expected during the show, and then post show, do another set for all the people filing out. they\'re all asking their friends where to party that were stuck outside and getting told "go to bills, we\'re in here, breakfast have been ripping it up all afternoon!"
that\'s what I would do anyway.

I\'d much rather do Breakfast 4-6:30 > Phish 7:30-11.
I\'d rather save the best for last.
-
Didn\'t they play at The Khyber in Philly after a Camden show? I seem to recall this.
Yes. 7/30/03:
I: Jam > What the Funk > Wake Up in a Coma > Mooboo’s Voodoo (Episode 2), May Fly Disarray, Gravity > Peaches en Regalia > Attraction To Shade Ditty > Puppetry, Score > Drum Solo > Fire
Was definitely a fun night. Although from what I remember, there weren\'t too many people in attendance from the Phish show.
I think a pre-Phish Fenway show would be even better than a post show. Better yet, one set before the Phish show, another one or two after.
Yeah I remember this now. We bolted from Phish the second the show ended but to no avail...we still hit postshow traffic and it took us over an hour to get to The Khyber. And there was nobody there...maybe 20 people. Dooze.
Bill\'s Bar would obviously be a different story, being across the street from Fenway. The only traffic would be the foot traffic to get in the door! But I love the preshow idea...especially given that it\'s a Sunday night, I\'d much rather do Breakfast 4-6:30 > Phish 7:30-11. And I can\'t wait to see who plays the brand new House of Blues across the street from Fenway before/after Phish!
-
camden > philly is WAYY more of a pain in the ass than fenway > bill\'s bar.
cross a river vs. cross the street.

honestly, a breakfast show after a phish show would be like blowing a gagger and passing out right after......better pre fenway bfast show.........
Solid point - that needs immediate attention. It\'s a Sunday afternoon. How would a 3:00 - 6:15 TB show treat ya?!?!
Interesting point...the one time I remember this happening was certainly one of the best concert days I ever had. 12/12/99 Breakfast at Federal Cafe in Hartford "opening" for Phish at the Hartford Civic Center.
Didn\'t they play at The Khyber in Philly after a Camden show? I seem to recall this.
Someone who did Phish 12/31/02 > Breakfast @ Tobacco Road should also chime in. (I was at Breakfast all night that night, no Phish.) This was NYE though, kind of a different animal, and The Breakfast played until about 5:30AM which definitely will not be the situation in Boston
-
I really just want to see the Breakfast anyway. What do we have to do to get this done? Whatever time its at I will try and be there. Sunday night is not very good for me though. I just started my job back up and I need to keep it!!! Mainly so I can eat and drink and smoke and see tB shows :)
-
I\'ll throw my two cents into the threadjack:
I can\'t think of a single Bruce Springsteen song I enjoy, though I\'ll admit I\'m only familiar with the radio "hits".
Al -
If you like raw acoustic stuff, Nebraska might be up your alley. Bruce isn\'t for everyone, but when all you hear is Born To Run, Thunder Road, Badlands, Hungry Heart, BITUSA, Glory Days and My Hometown, then you\'re missing out on some good music.
i wasted my money on Nebraska once. It sucks

I think it\'s the dual male asscrack more than the lightsabers...
(and yes I am getting 2000 posts before the show tonight... EASY [hooray for me?{whogivesashit?}])

turn that trey pic into an animated gif with lightsabers and i\'ll retract my ew.

i put the word in last night..hopefuly something happens.
Nice! Good luck, hopefully you guys can catch a break. I want this show to go down so bad.
can i call/ email bills bar and beg now or would that seem too desperate? ;)
p.s. Yoda, stop hijacking this thread and take your man crush for the boss elsewhere.

SPRINGSTEEN THREAD THAT WAY

This thread is for prematurely bitching about how the Breakfast won\'t be playing in Boston after Phish on 5/31.
because i couldn\'t find such a thread....
http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/entertainment/NATL-Bruce-Springsteen-Had-Affair-With-My-Wife-Husband.html
sorry wolf
oh and if this went through.... i would hold signs... dress up... what ever to get people into the show
Cracks me up when I hear people say that the Bruce Super Bowl halftime performance was incredible. Spare me!
it was pre recorded and played through the PA

I will definitely have a heart attack if any kind of local post-phenway show happens.. on a sidenote, "baby I was born to run....":inky:

KindMs I\'m 27 years old I\'m pretty sure I\'ve heard Bruce like a million times on shitty classic rock radio stations. My ex-girlfriend was obsessed with it too so I\'m definitely "aware" of the music.
I did make that comment just to rile y\'all up though. I actually respect Bruce Springsteen, especially his politics and I think he\'s a relatively intelligent songwriter. It\'s just not my particular groove.
So yea I retract my statement that he totally sucks gay balls. I just don\'t really dig it and I\'ve heard it way too many times.
-
there are a number of places in boston the band could play post-phish. lansdowne street would be the best, obviously, but any other spot in town could probably get philled. 30k+ phish fans can\'t all fit in Bill\'s Bar, they are gonna be all over the city.
The show is on a Sunday night. You think there are that many wooks with no responsibility the next day that are gonna be jonesin\' for after parties all over the city? Answer: probably, but I\'m sure there is also a mature demographic in the fanbase that actually has responsibility and plans on travelling home right after the show.
Bill\'s Bar is right there, perfect spot. Any of other live music joints near there? Boston is weak on live music so likely just a zillion jackass meathead bars in the vicinity.
-
Yeah no Bruce fans give a **** about Breakfast. Except for like 3 people here.
Based on posts on this board, the following people have stated that they either enjoy BS music or his concerts:
1. Myself
2. Leith
3. OldNewbie
4. Obsession600
5. Weekapaug19
6. JKing
7. Wild Coyote
Other people that I would put in this category:
8. Steve Gencs (anyone that references 57 Channels in a post has to at least be a closet-springsteen fan)
9. Pete The Fan (don\'t know if you\'re on the board)
That being said, I\'m not commenting on this anymore because I don\'t want to be accused of ruining the thread with my Yodaisms...
Ok so 9 people total. Maybe 4 will show. Way to set up the #1 dooze of all time.
Post Phish > Breakfast = sell out with overflow out into the streets
Good statistics though. Also for the record Springsteen sucks. Wrap your arms \'round his engines .... ghey. I get it brah, you love the USA.
You know I am not the biggest fan of Bruce but have you actually ever listened to his music ?
You do know that Born In the USA was a scathing editorial on the treatment of veitnam vets etc.
They guy has a lot of good things to say. You should open your ears more. Just because it is popular doesn\'t mean it sucks.
Born down in a dead man\'s town

theres been so many---"the breakfast should do this!" posts but sadly most of them dont happen
i think all it takes is a simple phone call or email to the management.... or to bill\'s bar itself
rotfl rotfl Yeah that\'s all it takes.
then why even start this thread

What should I say?
Hello-
I am in no way assosiated with the band The Breakfast. I believe that if you were to book them for May 31st, they would be able to fill your club.
Please contact the band\'s managament at (x@y.com) and set this up.
-Some fan.
-
i say it can\'t hurt
-
mjgpro2@hotmail.com - Mark (booking) 651.669.5068
booking@billsbar.com - Bill\'s Bar
Is spamming these people really going to help?
If it will, then I\'m down, but if not...well..i guess it is just bits...
-
but as fans we should be doing all we can do to help.
-
I think the point that Dave, Paul and Fitx are trying to make is that this is a no-brainer and that neither fans or band should be telling management or booking that this is a good idea and that they should get on it. If that\'s the case, then maybe it\'s time to start looking elsewhere...

Wow, what\'s with all the negative vibes man? All this talk is messing with my karma and bringing me down to a lower plain of existance :duck:
-
it would never happen. it makes too much sense.
exactly. im sure they will probably book something like a bon jovi cover band this night
i was thinking more along the lines of the breakfast having a gig in upstate new york, or no gig at all, and another band with the same target audience and smarter management playing at bill\'s bar... that seems more likely.
I hope urban fetch and kicking daiseys let the breakfast open for them every now and then in the future.

Aww, don\'t be sad yet alli, anything\'s possible! I thought it would never happen, but just the other day, a pig flew past my window...
You found Roger Waters\' missing inflatable pig!
Last I saw it was headin\' east... probably making it\'s way to jolly ole England

Let\'s try this one on for size and see how I get pummeled. In addition to booking Boston post Phish, how about TB books Donnegals on 5/23... No one else will get the date, but to have Bruce then Breakfast would be about the best musical combo that "I" could imagine...

I\'m trying to get tickets for the Fenway show, so this would be perfect on many levels.

Yup, you gotta figure Phish is done about 11:15, that leaves nearly 3 hours for the Landsdowne clubs to own face. Shame on the management of any jamband if they haven\'t already burned up the phone lines to every club on Landsdowne.
Cask N Flagon also has a ser back room that usually does the standard meathead DJ dance party most nights...but if they\'re smart they\'ll book a good band on 5/31. If they\'re smart.
-
nothing booked for that night according to the Bill\'s Bar calendar. They should get on that quick though.

that would be pretty kick ass.
