...2 cover songs (aka wasted time)...
well efffffff you too!
-
What happened at this show... early cutoff time? I thought these NYC shows were supposed to be 3-4 hour non stop ragers?
I think they went on about 1:30...can\'t remember what time they went off, but it had to be at least 3am, no? I think between being up early, moving all day, going to the roof top party, and the band getting a late start I ended up in a time warp. As for NYC shows being 3-4 hour ragers...that is generally not the case. I love going to see the Breakfast in NYC, but the last 3 or 4 shows have been more like 2 hours topps.
THanks to Diana for getting the B\'fast crew a great pregame spot. Great night for a rooftop party. After doing something like that before a show and going to a nice venue, it has me less excited about shows like Toad\'s Place.
-
yeah what is astronomy domine?
One of the shittier Pink Floyd songs.
What happened at this show... early cutoff time? I thought these NYC shows were supposed to be 3-4 hour non stop ragers?
I mean I\'m sure they raged whatever they played but between the 7 song setlist including 2 cover songs (aka wasted time) I\'m pretty glad I didn\'t beat up my car and pull a 180 on my sleep cycle to make it there.
Guess I\'ll have to wait until Sullys + Mill Street in August to witness some ser behavior.
Oh yea Breakfast rules.... people gotta give em time to play though!
I don\'t think that you could call covering AD wasted time... It they played Hot For Teacher, I\'d agree with you... But they rarely cover Floyd and when they do, it\'s awesome...

wow, i really wish i could remember what the hell went down. all i can say is it was a fun time, that\'s for sure. i love all you freaks.
Sorry I missed it. Totally passed out at 10pm. Until next time in NYC...
glad you got a good rest! and no worries. there will be a next time of course.
chris, thanks for the download! so clutch, considering i have zero recollection of any of it. pregame festivities are dangerous.... (tho fun!)

astronomy dominie is on pipers at the gates of dawn, ummagumma and pulse although I agree with db that ummagumma is the best version. sick song, wish I could have heard them play it.

yeah what is astronomy domine?
Pink Floyd... I hope this is a joke...
thought i might get some **** for that. i don\'t know all of floyd\'s catalog, my mistake.
No biggie... Grab Ummagumma, one of my favorite Floyd albums... It has a version of AD, not the original, but a live version, which I enjoy more...
-
damn, if I had left 2 hours earlier I could have made this. oh well.

Any tapers? If that Billie Jean jam was as good as the one from the 2/21/09 Queeb we\'re in big trouble!
-
frolfer had it about right i think-
chase tunage astronomy hard luck honey butter bold as love
no encore
full on billie jean jam in tunage with a couple other mj teases if i remember correctly...
jimcobb on guitar and vocals for Bold as love (nice job cobb! somehow i missed saying goodbye to you i think!?)
-

god i love nyc shows. great time. glad so many CT heads made it down. kentavius jones was a good time. very funky and some lovely fans. breakfast threw down...i think. memories are foggy, but based on how awful i feel right now, i\'m pretty i had an awesome time
-
it was a joke homers.
-
^^^^^^ took the words right out of my mouth, fred...
-
dont worry about it. all they will play is rusty, wanky, versions of 9 of the 12 songs currently in rotation.
hey dickhead,if you dont dig on the band thats all good in da hood.
keep your negative bullshit elsewhere.
thanks in advance,
ff
-
Great, great show. Incredible intensity that dripped all over everything. I think it went something like the Chase, Tunage, huge, with a Billie Jean jam in there, then a tune I\'m not familiar with or just couldn\'t place it, epicly good HLH, then an even better Honey Butter, oh man, that was juicy! the jam eventually found the refrain of Come Together, and Axis:Bold as Love with Jim Cobb nailing it(nice job man!) Was there something else? I am a little foggy about remembering stuff today. Thank you guys, just what I needed!!
Tim also played with Kentavius Jones on Feelin\' Alright. Guitar Armageddon!!!
-
It\'s Not The Songs They Play It\'s How They Play Them!
A Great Show Would Be Rufus Ten Different Ways!

chase, tunage, HLH...

yeah right. place your bets ;)

i couldnt find a carpooler, so im not going, really bummed about this one...
-
Somebody do a videocast like y\'all did @ Toads last time!
oh btw Diana I told my friends in the city they need to get out there even tho i\'m out for the count.. you might get a call from one of my good friends I might have mentioned something about a little Bfam style pregame :D
Hope I have not taken your hospitality for granted but it just sorta came up in conversation in the act of convincing him to go and grab his buddies :)
-
anyone know if there\'s someone taping tonight? i\'d think about bringing my rig, but only if no one else is taping. anyone?
-
It\'s really easy to take the subway.
take 4/5 south one stop to 14th street union square
transfer to the 6 (which is right across the platform)
take that to spring street
get out and walk east (just ask someone which way to bowery and you\'ll hit it in a minute.)
call if you need anything! can\'t wait to party!!
oh yeah -- and once you hit bowery, cross over so you are on the east side of the street, then walk up just like a block or two and you\'ll hit stanton, which is where my buddy lives. make a right and the building is on the right. peace!
-
thanks^^^...can\'t wait for tonight!!! hope i make the rooftop in time:)

Anyone doing the free Dr. Dog show in Prospect Park > Breakfast?
-
http://www.hopstop.com to plan a subway route or just a subway map
-
does anyone know a cheap and quick way to the show from Grand Central? i\'m gonna take the train from B-Port to GC but from there i\'m lost...and help would be greatly appreciated.
-
does anyone know if anyone on the roll call is from upstate?
-
HiYO!
-
In case anyone had other ideas, it looks like the Breakfast goes on at midnight.
Here is the lineup. (http://newyork.going.com/event-592437;Psychedelic_Summer_-_Open_Bar_Live_Music)

I\'m definitely looking forward to this show! :awwyeah:
nice!! glad you\'re in!! get to the city early! :D

heat will be brought
-
I think Breakfast needs to bring the True-Melt on the cruise.
All they play is heavy hitters anymore anyway so I doubt there will be much to gripe about in either case ;)
-
That is a ser roll call.
The band should get a good warm up tonight and be ready to bring the heat tomorrow.
-
Alrighty, the verdict has passed, no passengers for the tourney, I\'m in!
Discing + the Breakfast = perfect!

This is becoming a definite possibility now because I am playing in a frolf tournament saturday in Warwick, Ny which can\'t be much more than an hour or so from the city. Its looking like its depending on if I am driving any other players down to the tourney, \'cuz if I am flying solo I am so gone.
-
So I guess the question is... is there like a side door or something if we wanted to hit up this party before the show? ;)
really hope you guys make it! just call me at 914-629-8379 and i\'ll buzz you up.
-
If I go down to the city I may be chillen with a few w00ks for the day... and by that I mean w00kishly good friends of mine... they are also mostly inexperienced in the ways of The Breakfast but are completely prepared to taxi it over there upon my insistence.
So I guess the question is... is there like a side door or something if we wanted to hit up this party before the show? ;)
My car is making a sound like the wheel is about to fall off and my check engine light is on full-force (not unusual for ~200,000k mile Subarus, but still...) so I think I\'ll get an oil change before then and see if that magically cures everything.
Also may have to look at an open house early Sunday so if that\'s the case... no can do
-
i neeeeed a fairy bustout!!!! pretty, pretty please!!!!
-
Is anyone taping this?
:that: please?

last red square show i asked adrian to play some heavy hitters. his response "that\'s all we play now, havent you herad?"
It\'s true.

feels like it\'s been forever since my last show! prob not going to boston, so i\'m gonna have my rage face on.
disclaimer: if i appear to be making punching/kicking/biting ("ok, pie...") motions before, during, or after the show, it would be in your best interest to stay away from me.

This looks like a cool setlist, but I don\'t think that they\'d even have time to play 3/4 of the main set with 3-4 openers... Not sure if Kentavius Jones is co-headlining (his image is the same size as TB)... My guess is that TB will get 1.5 hours...
if people are there raging (as it appears will be the case) this venue has no problem staying open nice and late.

question: what do you think is the best opener for a nyc show that potentially could have a bunch of noobs?
Short Jam > Sundance then a Love Lake for good measure.

what the story with this open bar? may have to get someone else to drive. HAHA

I think I might actually go to this if I\'m not totally burnt out from the night before.
Will be practicing sustainable good-timeage on Friday cuz the burrito says she\'s down.

Open Bar from 9-10pm, $2 shots & $4 beers all night. The open bar is sponsored by Pyrat Rum. ages 21+, $10 cover, doors at 8pm.
but byob to my friend\'s rooftop pregame starting at 9. his place is literally right around the corner from the venue. all are welcome. see facebook for invite: http://www.facebook.com/dianacostello?v=feed#/event.php?eid=196820370623&ref=ts

Also, if you make it to this show, PLEASE be sure to bring some friends to this - remember, OPEN bar! :)
I love this line.
Only because it never happens.
Are we the only friendless fanbase or our friends that anti-Breakfast/good time.
If we all found one friend to bring to a show that would be an additional 30 people.
Sometimes you get one out and they might get hooked but all your faces are so familiar it makes me sick.
Nothing against ya\'ll....

possible (hopeful) answer: TFA.
another question:Can anyone recommend a good live recent show to burn for promo discs? (<80 min, of course!) I\'d love to have some discs & upcoming show fliers ready for this one...

Anybody driving from CT? I\'m guessing it will be too late to catch a train.
doubt it. i think ive missed every ny show in the last 8 months because no one is willing to drive there
honestly, this venue is EXTREMELY easy to get to. Take the FDR to Houston Street, turn left on Bowery, and you are there in literally 1 minute. probably just about as easy as you could get for nyc. and there is ample free parking in the area. i\'m down there all the time.

There is your problem.
Can\'t rely on other people, they will always let you down.

I think i\'d rather hit this up instead of the boat cruise (if i can\'t do both). I\'ll have to wait and see what work will allow.

It is the moving obligation that is the challenge. Already need to be out of my place that weekend so add on a night of fun and I am screwed.

"12: The Breakfast
The Breakfast is a hard-hitting jazz rock experimental quartet whose music ranges from progressive rock to sonic landscapes. Their national tour and non-stop schedule have seen them support the likes of The Wailers, Moe, North Mississippi All-Stars, Gomez, and others. In addition to their "road warrior" status, The Breakfast have played the 10,000 Lakes Festival in Minnesota twice, featuring other bands like Widespread Panic, Trey Anastasio, The Black Crowes and many more. Summer festivals like moe.down, Gathering of the Vibes, Camp Bisco, High Sierra, Bonaroo, and other notable events have also invited The Breakfast to share their sound. Tighter, funkier, and more versatile than ever before The Breakfast are turning heads with each show. "
I might be wrong but I don\'t recall the boys playing roo ??

although on third thought, **** the MTA and their payroll tax!
