Unfortunately Foxwoods is not offering a line on PYITE, but you can always take the field...

But "the field" is such a lame bet.  Maybe Mohegan Sun has a line on PYITE.

Put it in Saturday and see what happens.

I say YEM as a way of making up for their 2002 botch at Hampton. I also find it somewhat bizarre that debuts are at 4 to 1. I\'d be amazed and flabergasted if they opened with a song that nobody knew. Talk about taking the air out of the balloon.

By the way, Riker\'s Mailbox is 1 million to 1, End of Session is 1 billion to 1, and any song off Undermind is 50 trillion to 1.

hold on, this is an offical bet going somewhere?

The one cover that would be acceptable (imo) is 2001.. i remember dsnumbs saying he thought it would be a solid opener, and i agree whole heartedly. i\'d love 2001>yem/reba to kick things off, itd be perfect.

but i too am on the pyite train for more realistic possibilites. pyite opened my first show (7-8-00) and i still think its the best phopener in the repertoire.

gotta jiboo would be totally absurd and should be taken off this list.

free is another possibility, and to drop the \'r\' Fee would be **** SICK!

i\'m feel like they\'ll open with a song that they can extend an intro and let people go apeshit before they actually have to sing anything....

therefore-
pyite is game (although i don\'t know if they\'ll do something so technical right off the bat)

tweezer def makes sense

from this list acdc bag seems like an ok bet as does chalk dust and maaaaaybe wilson (but i think everyone wants to go apeshit, not chant)

my money\'s still on possum

how does Tweezer NOT make this list?? that and PYITE should be right up there in the 8:1s.

Well I\'m too lazy to to IHOZ it, but I\'m pretty sure that Tweezer was rarely the stuff of first-set opener.  The groundswell of support for PYITE is interesting though.  The line on that could certainly be 8:1.  Unfortunately Foxwoods is not offering a line on PYITE, but you can always take the field...

I think "any cover" is the worst bet.  I just can\'t see Phish allowing someone else\'s song to occupy the most important slot of all time.  I like Golgi and playing with house money I love it at 30:1.  I\'d rather take my shot at $3,000 with Golgi than win $10 on whatever.  If I then had to bet $100 of my own money, I\'d take Chalkdust.

If it is Fluffhead than the it is going to be a new tune that they have been working on before they get back to the classics.

Phish seems so nostalgic now.

Don\'t post on a full fluffhead

I\'ll give you a face full of fluffhead.

"The Field" or "Any Cover" (Frankenstein) seem like the safe bets. But, with house money, go YEM or go home.

don\'t think it will happen, but I want an ac/dc or something similar. "let\'s get down to the nitty gritty, let\'s get this show on the road"

another great one for the first show will be a horse/sitm

"I think that this exact thing happened to me just last year."

If my initial bet is from a free $100 I\'m throwing it on Any Cover song (Loving Cup). My pocket money would be bet on the Field (Carini).

i LOVE acdc getting 25:1. i wouldn\'t necessarily love that song opening, but love the odds. much better chance of that opening than jiboo

agreed...It just seems like ACDC would be too obvious though.

Put your money on UNDERMIND!  La la la la lock it up

I went field, only because I\'m hoping for a PYITE opener (my favorite opening song, I bet they open with it night 2) or Tube....get that place rocking

The best show I ever saw them play opened with an amazing PYITE (9th row on the isle may have had something to do with it)... but from that point on, PYITE has always been the perfect opener IMO...  And when I say perfect opener, I mean for EVERY band.  I\'m at a state fair in Nebraska, and some local high school goober band is taking the stage, I\'m hoping for a rippin\' PYITE.

AC/DC Bag seems more likely than the Curtain to me.

for what its worth, my money is on PYITE.

You walk into Foxwoods casino for a special Phish promotion: for a limited time, betting lines are availble on what will be the opening song at the first show on Friday 3/6/09.  To make things even better, it turns out that you are lucky phan #420 to the promotion, and you are handed a $100 voucher that can be used for one bet only on Phish lines.  Which of these lines do you place your bet on?

If you then pulled $100 out of your pocket and went for seconds, which one would you bet on?

(Note: "Field" covers every other Phish original that has been previously played.  You only win $10 if you win this bet.)
