The night before Tim plays Denver:
Friday 01/02 ? Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, Denver, CO
Region of Darkness kicks off \'09 in Colorado! After the success of their recent West Coast debut, Region of Darkness has been invited to bring their raw, no holds barred rock \'n\' roll arsenal to Denver on the first Friday of the New Year. Join keyboardist Steve Molitz, drummer Stephen Perkins (Jane\'s Addiction, Porno For Pyros), guitarist Josh Clark (Tea Leaf Green), bassist Steve Adams (ALO), and vocalist Adam Iscove (Allrise, Particle w/Robby Krieger) for two sets of original, high-octane rock. Visit http://www.quixotes.com for tickets and information.
He\'s already playing with two of those guys the next night.

While the name might elicit a vision of Satan\'s favorite metal bar band, Region of Darkness is actually a West Coast supergroup comprised of several terrestrial residing musicians. With Steve Molitz of Phil Lesh and Particle on keys, Stephen Perkins of Primus and Porno for Pyros on drums, Josh Clark of Tea Leaf Green on guitar, Steve Adams of ALO on bass and Adam Iscove of Allrise and Particle on vocals, this group kicks out psychedelic garage-rock grooves.

Wait, who?
-
Knowing both Molitz and Josh Clark, Tim really should work his way into the Region of Darkness lineup the night before.

The three20south show is in Breckenridge, where my daughter is working for the winter. After seeing her first two Breakfast shows this fall, she\'ll be there for sure. I\'m so jealous.

I guess Willie liked what he heard!

It would appear Zuke or Galenas.

i\'d love to buy a one-way ticket and just stay out there forever....

Wow!! That\'s huge for Tim. Banyan is no joke. I have a great Banyan recording. Very tasty stuff. About the band:
Banyan is an art rock band with heavy jazz and punk influence, based in Los Angeles, California.
The leader and co-founder is Stephen Perkins, who first played drums for Jane\'s Addiction (1986-1991, plus later regroupings), and then for Porno for Pyros. He co-founded the group with David Turin. The core members of the band are Nels Cline on guitar, Willie Waldman on trumpet and Mike Watt on bass. Both Mike Watt and Nels Cline generally play only West Coast dates and at various times the band has had Rob Wasserman on bass and Clint Wagner on guitar fill in when they are unavailable. Saxophone players Steve Mackay, Herman Green and guitar player Calvin Newborn have also joined the band during select live shows.
Los Angeles artist Norton Wisdom paints on a wet-erase board while the band plays, and the imagery he creates interprets the music much in the same way that lyrics might. To see the band in more than one performance, you will see some images that recur and some that are new, since the songs are compositions whose structure remains the same while there is also a large amount of improvisation, in the jazz tradition.
The first EP featured Money Mark as keyboardist labeled as the Freeway Keyboardist. The first album was engineered by the Dust Brothers at their studio and produced by Turin and Perkins.
Notable guest appearances on the second album Anytime at All include Flea, John Frusciante (both from the Red Hot Chili Peppers), Martyn LeNoble (Perkins\' former bandmate from Porno for Pyros), Rob Wasserman and Buckethead.
For their third album Live At Perkins\' Palace (named after the fact that it was recorded at Perkins\' home studio, not after the live performance venue of the same name), the band reduced itself to a four-piece unit of Perkins, Watt, Cline, and Waldman.
Steve Kimock sat-in with Banyan during their August 26, 2007 perfornamnce at the Riverview Music Festival in Chicago, IL.
In liner notes and personal conversations, members of the band cite Igor Stravinsky and Miles Davis as influences.
