the "crowd" (as a whole), wants to hear the hits. and though many of them were played at this show, any break from that, and god forbid any *gasp* experimentation, is unacceptable.
i think there\'s a lot of "weeding out" being done this tour, and i\'m completely fine with it. get rid of the d-bags who just want to hear 1979, and play smaller venues next time around. i can\'t wait.

I haven\'t listened to Zeitgeist much at all until very, very recently (like in the last few days). It\'s great. Surprised at how good it is actually.

for the record, i thought the mohegan show was fantastic. though due to circumstances beyond my control, i didn\'t see the whole thing, and got there during 99 Floors. the crowd BLEW, but the band was great. i thought Gossamer was amazing, and Bodies was definitely unexpected. not a fan of MCIS on horns though.

Bottom line, I love the dichotomy. Almost everyone said there were moments of brilliance along with the confusing and often brutal tug-of-war between love and hate, band and crowd. As long as there are moments of brilliance, I want moments of controversy in addition. THIS is what rock and roll is all about, imo. Big sounds with bitter banter. I\'m even more excited after reading disappointed reviews based on the "attitude" of Billy. Should be wonderfully hectic.

SHOULD be going tomorrow night. I have my fingers crossed that my co-worker\'s first child isn\'t born tomorrow, because then I\'ll be pouring **** drinks all night. I\'m looking forward to the possibilities. Chi-town homecoming show 3. First Friday night Pumpkins in Chicago in jesus-h forever!

lots of talk on smashingpumpkins.com (which has been newly redesigned) about weeding out the fans who all they do is bash and never have anything constructive to say. we\'ll see how it goes. there\'s always gonna be those smashing pumpkins fans who only want to hear the old hits, but billy\'s made it abundantly clear that he\'s not about to turn this band into a nostalgia act. good for him. this band\'s got legs and they\'re going to be stretched far so long as billy and the crew continue writing great tunes, which so far has been the case: the hare march, song for a son, owata, 99 floors, gossamer, as rome burns = some good stuff that\'s only going to get better as it\'s played more often.
i\'m beyond elated that this band is back on the road. i hope they do a smaller venue run next time around.

^^ Unfortunately their hettie new t-shirts were $35 bucks at the merch area!
I guess it all evens out. Well, it would, had I bought one instead of loudly suggesting a ceiling price on all T-Shirts of $20.

disc one is a documentary. it has a lot of music and shows billy working on these new tunes in san fransisco and ashville. then disc 2 is all live performaces. they did it up like vieuphoria without the crazy skits. you should get it ASAP. only 16.99 at best buy.

Chris! I was just about to come on here RAVING about the SP show I saw the night before yours --- Wang Center 11-15-2008.
Holy ****, best rock show I\'ve ever seen.

i dont even see how someone could review this show without mentioning soma, song for a son, and 99 floors. those were my highlights along with set the controls and i of the mourning.
looks like this review is just based on looking just at the setlist and copying all the bad reviews that all the other people who dont like live music wrote. pumpkins fans would have killed to see them play shows like these when jimmy was out of the band from 96-99 or when they were on hiatus for 6 1/2 years.

I can see where someone would be able to find Corgan a little pretentious and full of himself, but that doesn\'t negate that he comes up with some decent music. I\'ll take a listen to this show when it pops up on archive.org.

anyone else go to the pumpkins show in CT?? brendan and i had pretty good seats on the floor. we made it down to 7th row and then 4th row for encore. saw adrian and davepeck post show and then hung out with peaches after he got outta work.
igot to hear almost everything ive been waiting 12+ years for between this show and the 1st night in NY. mellon collie thru bodies was a ridiculous chunk of music and they just didnt wanna stop between songs so they all flowed into the next. gossamer scared everyone away on the floor who was just there for the casino and we got move and see them up pretty close. I enjoyed this more than anything i have seen a long time.
