If that being in that company makes me gay, then so be it.

First of all Brian Wilson or his music are not gay, that\'s just ignorance talking.  Whether you like his music or not, you have to respect his talent.

Also, I\'ve mentioned SMILE numerous times on the site.  Below is a link of a live version of it on NPR.

The Breakfast played Transcendental Meditation on 4/7/03.  Not sure when you\'re first show was, but it was a couple months before your join date on the board.

There are various sources that state Paul McCartney as saying that Brian Wilson\'s Pet Sounds influenced The Beatles to write Sgt. Peppers.  If that\'s not a major nod, then I don\'t know what is.

If you actually took the time to listen to SMILE rather than say "what have you done for me lately?", you might have a better appreciation for what a talented guy he actually is.

I don\'t know... maybe all he did was influence virtually every musician performing today...

source?

I also said, RECENT PAST, just to clear up the confusion.

Had to google this but I totally thought Brian Wilson was dead.

What?!!? Are serious?! (I can\'t say much I haven\'t read this whole thread.. lol) He is so not dead and still an amazing song writer and performer. I saw him with Paul Simon and he is/was the Beach Boys! and a production perfectionist in my mind..... just listen to the symbols/tamborine in California Girls it makes the song!  Now I\'ll be on a Beach Boys kick...thanks alot! :)

I am ser.

or at least was,

besides, what has Brian Wilson done in the recent past for me to care?

Good size venue. Should be intimate.

Ticket charges are bogus.

1800... I got front row, upper orchestra... Should be a really good time...

My only frustration with this show was with the venue.  It\'s completely under renovation, so there is no box office and I was forced to pay tickets.com a $12 per ticket service charge, so a $62 ticket turned to $83 after all was said and done.

Not sure if the **** comment was called for, but who am I.

Anything that\'s said on this board and not in PMs is technically public commentary.

I\'m not sure if we know each other Spacey, but I\'m guessing that SP knows Freddie and I do also, so I think we all know what pushes each other\'s buttons... But what I don\'t agree with is saying or not saying something because it\'s going to ruffle feathers (in this case - Freddie\'s).  We all say stuff that pisses someone off.  That\'s the nature of it...

Not sure where this all came from, but all I wanted to do in this thread is point out that there\'s a good concert (in my opinion) happening in NJ.  Can\'t we all just get along?

Wow.   I know its your sense of humor. But thats harsh.  Seriously.

I read stuff like this and I worry about the fact you have off-spring....

:wah:

I know Wah and I would not have done what you just did.

Oooooh, i\'m shaking in my boots.   His verbal onslaughts don\'t really phase me anymore. I am quite used to them. I think once in awhile he needs to be reminded that he says the most completely absurd and inappropriate things.

You should be.

You should learn what to say and not to say yourself.

Oh really?  I\'ve insulted how many people on this board?  Like maybe one in 5 years.  Please.   Freddie averages like 2 a day.

You are insulting me, so that makes 2 today.

How did i insult you?  Did i say anything directly towards you?  No.   I have no beef with you.

If i did, you\'d know.

Would I care?

not saying its not good

That\'s actually not true... He\'s released the following albums since the late 80s

Brian Wilson (Self Titled) - 1988
Orange Crate Art - 1995
Imagination - 1998
Gettin\' In Over My Head - 2004
SMILE - 2004
That Lucky Old Sun - 2008

SMILE is definitely the best of those records... I actually prefere SMILE to Pet Sounds... :duck:

Brian Wilson performed at the Stand Up For A Cure benefit on July 11 but his performance didn`t sit well with his fan base.

Posting at his official website, the fans complained of poor seating arrangements, a cut-down band and poor song choice. They questioned the 75-minute set and the lack of Beach Boys and rarities.

He might be better off going back in the grave. It probably smells better than NJ too.

This was a benefit show, so I\'m sure the time slot was not that of a full show.  He offered a full refund for those that were not happy with the show and he performed a free show in brooklyn only says after that.  The guy is past his prime.  What more could he do to accomodate people.

If Jerry came back from the grave people would be drooling over whatever he played, even if it sounded like **** (and I\'m a fan...just trying to make a point).

Ahh, yes, that is where the confusion lies. Dennis is the one I was thinking of.

Fair enough.

Smile, you say, check into it.

Are you serious?  The man may not be a jam-band legend, but most rock music has either been influenced by The Beatles or The Beach Boys and HE WAS The Beach Boys.
