this is the most articulate thread ever

excuse me....but how the **** did the runner get to third? you have to account for that somehow. at every level of the game....that\'s a sac fly.
wait, if you\'re laptop was crushed into a singularity and you awoke in a field of tall grass that stretched on forever surrounded by no one and nothing for miles, then how were you able to read the thread? I call shenanigans on your story cobby. I don\'t believe it for a second.
So, you gonna be one of those father\'s who gives their kid a sac fly when someone tags from 2nd to 3rd off their flyout?
To continue my efforts towards boosting the thread\'s words per post average, I offer a firsthand account from an anonymous lurker who read my previous post - the one I specifically warned against reading - and found himself the victim of the unsafe conditions surrounding a point in spacetime in which gravitational forces cause matter to have an infinite density and zero volume. Here is his story:
"I certainly didn\'t think he was serious as I read through the small print below his sarcastic commentary on the subject matter of the thread. But as my archaic iBook G4 laptop began to shake violently, I began to revise my conclusion. No logic board failure or kernel panic could have been causing this. I\'d always wondered if Steve Jobs were some sort of evil sorcerer, but at that moment I knew the collapse of matter I was witnessing was the consequence of my own wandering eyes. It looked as if this laptop was a piece of old newspaper, slowly but surely balled up in preparation to be used as kindling for a fireplace. But it didn\'t stop there, no sir. This ball of metal kept crunching in on itself, getting smaller and smaller until it became hard to even see on the surface of my desk. I started to notice a strange queezy feeling in my stomach as I watched my pencil holder slide towards the center of the desk and collapse into this tiny ball of matter. Then went the cell phone, followed by my speakers, and then the desk itself began it\'s collapse. At that moment, everything got a bit funny. This point had become so dense that even light could no longer escape it\'s menacing gravitational pull. Before the impulse to run jumped a single synapse, I felt my physical existence - as i knew it - end entirely as I became part of this tiny force of destruction.
I came to days later. Or anyway, it seemed like days had gone by. What had transpired during that time, I couldn\'t tell you, but sitting at my desk reading silly threads on .info felt like ages ago. I opened my eyes and found myself naked, lying in tall grass that seemed to go on forever. I couldn\'t see anyone or anything but grass, however I knew I was not alone out here, wherever here was. And then the horrifying reality set in as I began to realize where I was. If anyone had told me I\'d find myself in this terrible place, I\'d have never even opened that horrible, pointless thread, let alone reading that stupid waste of a post, despite it\'s clear warning. So please, I beg of you, learn from my mistake. History need not repeat itself. We must move forward. We are all one mind. Don\'t allow my horrible fate to be in vain. It\'s up to all of you. Be of service to one another. You are ALL brothers and sisters regardless of any perceived differences. The only separation between any of you is only the separation you create. The cells that make up your body can\'t grow as one if they are at odds with one another. If that were the case you\'d get sick and wouldn\'t survive very long. As below, so above. Humanity is sick, and will not survive very long unless the cells that make it up begin to realize that they are all one body, and act accordingly. Don\'t focus on how this person or that person could be doing more, or acting differently. Focus on your own progress. If everyone keeps their side of the street clean.... Well then, I guess we wouldn\'t need those big street cleaning vehicles that always seem to back up traffic, and it\'s always when you\'re already late for something... Like what the hell, man? Why now? Shouldn\'t they send those guys out at like 3am or something? Now I\'ve got to reschedule my colonoscopy, and this doctor has a long waiting list. I made this appointment like 4 months ago. So please, I beg all of you. Let us band together and eliminate the need for those ridiculous, pain in the ass street cleaning truck things."
So, yeah that\'s that. What\'s the WPP average now?
As soon as I post the fact that this is the most articulate thread ever, Al, Skye, and Bezerker completey **** the average words-per-post with 5 consecutive one-liners.
It doesn\'t matter now. Look at the next 5posts after mine. As soon as I post the fact that this is the most articulate thread ever, Al, Skye, and Bezerker completey **** the average words-per-post with 5 consecutive one-liners. It\'s gonna take a couple more mini-essays from the peanut gallery to make up for that and get this thread back to the top spot.
(BTW hilarious post by bezerker "you gotta be fuckin kidding me" Brilliant.)

I agree that we cannot judge someone\'s character by their race alone. It is a pure tragedy, and I fully respect anyone who is an activist, sociologist or philosopher or otherwise. However, if one is using a critical social lens, we might reveal the epitome of most social programs that have outright failed, at the cost to YOU; every single illegally taxed citizen, all in the name to "help" supposed underprivileged citizens. I am a fan of the free market and competition, which in effect will ultimately drive costs down and service provision up. To "equalize" or level the playing field, either by way of socialized medicine or welfare, would jeopardize the very existence of a free market society. Communism, in effect, attempts to economically level this societal playing field and as we\'ve seen in pre-USSR/China regimes, thwarts rights of privacy, independent business/competition, as well as a whole slew of anti- U.S. constitutional motifs.
I grew up in a very poor household, but I was never offered any help based on my White race. ( Of course not! ) I never expected any federal government compensation based on my family\'s economic status or my race. I relied on my family alone. We worked hard and see everyday people of all races who have worked hard to provide for their families and to educate themselves. Friends, it is up to us to help each other strengthen our families on a voluntary humanitarian basis.
It saddens me to ponder how we as legal law-abiding citizens are outright forced to pay our earned income via taxes that will pay for someone\'s "free" health care who decided to illegally cross our border. This person could be from any country; I am not targeting Mexicans, however thousands cross our border illegally with the expectation of deserving free housing and health care. Don\'t misinterpret me, I am all for legal immigrants! The true legal process represents the basis of the U.S. I do blame the employers who can look themselves in the mirror and deny an American a decent wage all in the name of saving a buck on cheap dehumanized illegal labor. The corporate giants are to blame! Why do we not consider optional charity as the resolve to any social program?
Basically, this results to the fact that I am a true Ron Paul Republican who is fearful of the lurches of big government. As far as people having racist slang about whole groups, they may as well save their comments and look at their own actions instead. Phew. Kudos to anyone who read this.

You start out by saying you believe in free markets and then blast corporations in the very next paragraph. So which is it, Free markets make things work or companies need to be regulated to ensure they employ Americans ?
And your love of free markets just got smacked in the face when WE the TAX Payers you so passionately defend just had to eat Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and bail their ass out.

"Today instead the US has performed the greatest nationalization in the history of humanity. By nationalizing Fannie and Freddie the US has increased its public assets by almost $6 trillion and has increased its public debt/liabilities by another $6 trillion. The US has also turned itself into the largest government-owned hedge fund in the world: by injecting a likely $200 billion of capital into Fannie and Freddie and taking on almost $6 trillion of liabilities of such GSEs the US has also undertaken the biggest and most levered LBO (?leveraged buy-out?) in human history that has a debt to equity ratio of 30 ($6,000 billion of debt against $200 billion of equity)."
So Private profits and public loses is what your free markets get us.
I seriously think you misinterpreted my position. It\'s too bad that you can say I have given a crock of **** based on a few opinions you and I have. I would defend that I support those who work hard and not take advantage of others to get their status; i.e. corporations who pay workers low wages to succeed. I outright said that we should blame them, but that is why people have the free choice of what services and goods they will buy. I am absolutely totally against unethical corporations who do not abide by the legal framework they should be held accountable for. If the free market worked appropriately, the red tape of bureaucracy wouldn\'t have muddled up the entire Federal Reserve system that supposedly "nationalizes" these self-serving corporations.
Don\'t make your attack so personal dude, it just fogs the facts you are attempting to give out.
Free marketers expose that any gov oversight is a bad thing and that the market forces will take care of themselves.
That is in essence what the housing market was. The government allowed unchecked and unregulated practices to go forward and even removed many of the oversight that was there. And what did the free market get us?
It got us predatory lending practices, over leveraged loan companies and a huge mess. That is what Free markets will get you. Corporations only care about profits and they are who drive the markets.
I am not talking about low wages. I am talking about market manipulations, insider deals etc etc. All of this would go unchecked in a Free Market as described by libertarians. I happen to agree with a lot of their platform except on this I think they are completely wrong.
There has to be oversight and checks and balances.

for ser, if you don\'t feel very strongly about a specific field/major try starting at a cheapo community college to get your GED\'s and explore the options...
great advice. but its hard to transfer credits from most community colleges... its crazy. but still, if you\'re unsure, its a great way to stay in school, and not kill yourself with debt.
i just finally finished a 7 year epic run of college, and have a debt about 4x that of Mr. peaches (although, if i had opted to go to a private, out-of-state university, it would be close to 10x)... but you know, i had such a blast at UConn, its worth every dollar thats debited from my checking account monthly for the next 15 years.

While this is true for many, particularly service workers, some exceptions could include electricians, plumbers (other skilled trade peeps) that can command much higher salaries than college grads. My friend\'s dad is an electrician who makes well above the 6-digit mark; they even have a weekend house in the Sierra. The point is to acquire some actual skills, whether or not you go to college. You can go to college, major in sociology (one of my pet peeve majors for its worthlessness) and have as little employable skill as a Dunkin Donut worker.
**** you.
It\'s funny because I stopped to think if I knew any sociology people and recalled you were one before I posted. Either way, I do believe it is a totally bogus major. My dad is a University professor and he loves to rag on sociology too.
Here\'s why: there are two types of students that declare sociology for a major, those who truly do care deeply for the subject matter (I\'ll bet you\'re in this camp) and then those that either are too lazy to think of a major or want an easy one and/or can\'t get accepted into another program. As far as career opportunities, there is very little opportunity that directly recruits from this "speciality", and most sociology majors end up unemployed or in a totally unrelated career path with which they have less skills than someone who majored in it. Finally, I really only interpret it as another vehicle to spread far-left ideology and cultivate unnecessary outrage on campus.
Gordo, let\'s hope some of your general ed classes are good. :duck:
well arent you the lucky one today...to get the lilblondie **** you...i worked pretty hard for my Sociology/Womens Studies degree...and while i did alot of messing around and running off to follow Phish in college...i truly believe in my degree and use it everyday when i go to work and help to save the world...what do you do to make the world a better place???? i work my ass off all day running around some shitty parts of Bridgeport to make sure that kids and families are staying off the streets, drugs and staying out of mental health facilites...i am not asking for a pat on the back by any means but i do something that not many people would...everyone in my life thinks that i am nuts...but the bottom line is either we help these people or the future for all of us is looking pretty grim...so while everyone is welcome to their own opinions...yours just happens to **** suck....
college is fun, but, no joke, if i had to do it all over again I would think a lot harder about putting myself in >$20,000 worth of debt unless i REALLY thought I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life....
for ser, if you don\'t feel very strongly about a specific field/major try starting at a cheapo community college to get your GED\'s and explore the options...
but the bottom line is either we help these people or the future for all of us is looking pretty grim

A Day in the Life of a college student
10am - wake up, play video games
11 - grab lunch on the way to class
11-5 (depending on the day of the week/lab schedual, though normall 12-2 TR, and 1-3MWF)
SIT IN CLASS
4-6: Relaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx~~~~~~ and play video games
6-10: Think about, and maybe do, homework, or eat dinner
10-4: More relaxing, maybe some drinking, and video games
ehem...maybe in your dream world. Here is just my Thursday schedule:
5am - wake up, shower, feed the critters
7am - sit in traffic
8am-2pm - classes (which consist of writing down everything the professor says or else your screwed for the semester hence the feeling of carpal tunnel at the end of the semester, or hiking around in the woods for about 4-5 hours for labs...which obviously is awesome, but still exhausting)
2-4:30 drive home, rush to get more school stuff together, maybe eat dinner if time provides
4:30 - 5:15 sit in rush hour traffic while driving to the other campus
6-9 -enjoy a depressing class about poverty and how the governments of the world are so **** up
9-9:30 drive home; not as much traffic but it\'s still there for some ungodly reason
9:30 - 10 maybe eat
10-12 homework/study
12-5 sleep
Repeat this, granted for only 2 semesters, but it will probably end up being the rest of my life. I\'ve already devoted 7 years to my undergrad studies...why not keep my record running! :)
CJ, i used to have your attitude. i hated high school with all the cliques, the teachers on your case about something, etc. but i pulled through it by the skin of my teeth. now i\'m in college going to school for something that i love and meeting so many phenomenal people. you just have to find your place, but be patient. As Emerson once said,"Adopt the pace of Nature: her secret is patience"

While the post total is something to be proud of, MakisupaCJ is also headed towards some less noble records. He has destroyed the record for "haha"s in first 13 days. In fact, he actually leads all of .info for "haha"s in the entire calendar year for 2008. In the Downloading Maadd(sp?) Songs thread (http://www.thebreakfast.info/forum/showthread.php?t=13098) he has not one but two separate streaks of 5 posts in a row with "haha". (I\'m not making any of this up, go read it.) His overall grade writing level of .56 (i.e. barely above Kindergarten) is atrocious even given .info\'s abysmal standards. In fact, he has the second lowest grade level of all time after 13 days, second only to Rokkit. (Remember him?)
And how am I able to compute these advanced statistics?

I think MakisupaCJ has set a record for most posts in the first week of .info membership!
MakisupaCJ has 47 posts in his first 13 days. That is the highest first-13-day total in the past 5 years. Several charter .info members who were heavy Yahoo Group users before .info existed had more than 47 posts in the first 13 days, but nobody has beaten that since. CJ\'s 47 posts in first 13 days is 2.63 standard deviations above the average of 1.1 posts in first 13 days. If you adjust that to not count lurkers (people who make 0 posts within 13 days of creating a handle) then the average posts in first 13 days is 9.5, and 47 posts is 1.92 standard deviations from the norm.

seriously guys lets think about this:
A Day in the Life of a corporate bum:
5:30am - 6:00am Get up, shower, have coffee, leave
6:00am - 7:00am Sit in traffic
7:00am - 6:00pm Sit in a cube
6:pm - 7:00pm Sit in traffic
7:00 - 9:00pm - Evening recreational activites
9:00 - 11:00 - relaxx...
11:00pm = 5:30am sleep

The first time i read though your post quickly, it thought this sentence said its how i got through all my [-]study[/-] periods as a teen.
dont LEAVE college
dont go to college
You should really try freewriting or journaling during that time. You are going through a really huge transition with the loss your teacher/friend. Maybe putting that into words, you can also find a way to express yourself with your free time, while doing something creative.
its how i got through all my study periods as a teen. I\'d find a really nice place on campus and journal my heart out.

http://www.walkaboutprogram.orgalternative high school programs = da bomb.
Well, all I\'m saying is that I want to look back and say that I did I the best I could while I was stuck in this place. Had as much fun as I could while I was stuck in this place. Played as hard as I could while I was stuck in this place... Dogged as many girls as I could while I was stuck in this place...
Seriously CJ, try and learn something. Read a book. Don\'t waste your time there.
Plus, study is awesome. Think when you\'re working an 8 hour day you\'re going to get 45 minute breaks?
You might if you have a really incredible job. If you want one of those, quit bitching and make some use of your time in school.
The title explains it all and you alllll know the feeling.
i would kill to be back in school
