They used the same recycled garbage over and over again.

Apparently, it is too much to take a little pride in your press pack.

^^May of \'06 I believe. I remember seeing Jordan\'s look of disbelief after the set because of the stage/sound/lights/crowd size. A great moment I\'ll never forget.

Road warriors from the beginning, the band has been touring non stop for the last five years, performing with other national acts such as The Wailers, moe., North Mississippi Allstars, Gomez, and many more. Now reaching national status, The Breakfast is tighter, funkier and more versatile than ever.

This is probably a dumb question, but I remember seeing the same names used back in 2001-2003.  Have they toured with any of these bands in the last 3 years?

They opened for Moe/Gomez/NMA in summer 2006.  I believe the Wailers opener was a year or two ago at House of Blues Chicago?

Only 2 colorado shows?  I liked the rumour about 4 Colorado shows.  They play great in Boulder too, and Ft. Collins, and last year they played in Grand Junction, where I now live, and would enjoy seeing them make the return.  Will bring many friends.  Still holding out for more CO shows!

EVERYONE should try to make it out to this place! you can sit on the quarry beach and listen to/watch the show! last time i was out there, i got to watch a meteor shower while sam bush played and i dipped my toes in the lake... plus, there\'s tons of great camping under huge trees!

and for you bisco kidz, there\'s a natural contingent of spun out tour rats that inhabit the place, so you\'ll feel right at home! ;)

And you probably also missed out on the Tempe show they played in March 2006.

I was gonna ask about Goat Head. I\'ve been to Mesa many times and can\'t picture a heady venue near all the sprawling developments out there.

Sure did miss the 2006 show.  My time in AZ = 6/07-5/08

Believe it or not Goat Head is pretty nice.  I can\'t remember what exit it is on the 60, but it is about 5-10mi away from Tempe.

They have GD cover bands in there at least once every other week.  Cheap beers and a really nice sound system for a place its size.  I\'ve smoked numerous bowls in the parking lot too...very little/non existant security/police presence.

The Breakfast is a hard-hitting jazz rock experimental quartet whose music ranges from rock to sonic landscapes. In 2003/2004 The Breakfast accepted their first Jammy award for best emerging artist at the Madison Square Garden Theater aong with Phil Lesh, Umphrey\'s Mcgee, Dr John and other distinguished honorees. Since their Jammy win The Breakfast have been traveling the country.

The Breakfast has recently been revitalized by the addition of two new members. Chris DeAngelis (bass) and Matt Oestreicher (keyboards) are both graduates of music schools where they focused on jazz and composition. With original members Tim Palmieri (guitar) and Adrian Tramantano (drums), these four virtuoso musicians and songwriters unite to create authentic music that moves and enlightens people.

Together they rage forward with renewed mission and commitment. Tighter, funkier, and more versatile than ever before The Breakfast are turning heads with each show.

Maybe a new bio, but I\'d leave that pic! Tim looks good in it, and it sure as heck beats the current band photo.  :duck:

the breakfast shows I have seen in Boston have been well attended.  They did play Bill\'s Bar that one time, I prefer the middle east though.  The Paradise would be a good venue to shoot for, lots of larger acts roll through there and playing there provides much more exposure than the middle east upstairs.  If they teamed up with the Brew, Indobox, The Rubblebucket Orchestra, Club d\'elf etc. they could bring that place down.

Or play at Berklee for some event.  They are playing Oberlin so why not Berklee?  Those kids are music enthusiasts and im sure many of them would be impressed with the Breakfast.  Beyond playing at a music school a gig at any one of boston\'s many colleges could turn some heads on and still make that paper.

The middle east is always packed when they play there. Really fun shows too.

There have been plenty of good shows in Boston (Cambridge to be precise), as I recall hearing about Bfam sneaking through the back door of a sold-out Middle East.  The Boston draw has likely been Bfam driving in from a 3-hour radius to represent and less attributable to a strong local fanbase.  How about a co-bill at the Paradise with a band that draws well in Boston?  It seems to have worked well last night.

I am surprised they have never done well in Boston.  Even Raq (worse mngmnt than Bfast) plays the Paradise twice a year...

Hopefully there\'s a Boston show or shows

That would be surprising if they went a whole year without playing a city as large and as close as Boston.  But the priority appears to be playing in Milford, CT once a week so you are probably out of luck.

It would be surprising. If they played in Boston more than once a year maybe they could move out of the Middle East upstairs and maybe get into the paradise. It sucks trying to get some of my friends into the band when they don\'t come around that often.

Fall would be the perfect time to hit Boston with all the colleges starting back up

I\'ve never even heard of Reggie\'s.. Their website looks cool, although they do have a different show scheduled on Friday Oct. 3rd???  :hscratch: I\'m wondering if Thursday night will be booked somewhere in the greater Chicago-land area considering Wednesday they\'ll be in Springfield. Looking forward to some hard facts being spilled on this show, right now I\'m a tad skeptical.

Anyone out there been to Reggie\'s? I\'m wondering if they have multiple rooms for concerts?

Either way totally psyched to see a fairly quick turnaround here in Chicago, esp. on another Friday night.. Last show was bonkers.

never been to Reggie\'s.  wish it wasn\'t a triple header, but i will be there! :)

I couldn\'t agree with you more about the triple header.  It\'s fairly new venue on the South Side at 21st and State.  Been there once and going again next Friday to see Consider The Source.

Didn\'t see your post Rickey... so, multiple stages or are we in for 6 bands instead of 3?

Never mind, figured it out. Reggie\'s Music Joint, not Rock Club. Kind of a bummer though, I liked the idea of a 17+ show in Chicago for TB. I\'d be very interested to see their young turn out. Whatever, another 21+ venture w/The Hue. Pumped.

Some bands (whether they are good or blow) get beaten into your head due to all the recognition on Jambase.  I\'d like to see Bfast in that category.

^ dunno...anybody can pretty much put stuff on jambase.  I used to do updates for friend\'s bands and a couple of bars.  never sent in an article for publication though...i can\'t imagine it\'s that difficult and if someone wrote it up, tim, adrian, dave, todd, etc could send it in.  i\'m pretty sure they verify the e-mail address, and not much more.

JamBase Submission Guidelines & FAQ
As JamBase has developed our Editorial Team has implemented a new system for contributors. All submissions now work on at "pitch basis," meaning you must send an email pitch to the appropriate editor before covering an event, reviewing a CD or writing a feature. Only pieces pitched in advance will be considered for publication.

FEATURES (1,000 ? 4,000 words ? unless otherwise agreed upon)
All features must include exclusive interviews that are recorded and transcribed for accuracy. JamBase features are generally about a specific artist, but are not limited to this format.

Please email pitches (100-300 words max, including artist/subject, angle and any other pertinent info such as album release date, tour dates and anything else that you feel is important) to editor@jambase.com. If this is your first pitch to JamBase, please include your writing background and, if possible, clips of published work.

SHOW REVIEWS (350 ? 1,000 words ? unless otherwise agreed upon)
JamBase publishes a plethora of show reviews. If there is an event you would like to cover, please send pitches at least two weeks prior to the event. After the Editor has agreed to work on a show review with you, submissions must be received within five days after the event. Articles received after this time will not be considered.

Please email pitches (100-300 words max, including artist, venue, city, angle and any other pertinent info that you feel is important) to editor@jambase.com. Also, let us know if you need JamBase\'s help getting into the show or if you have that covered. If this is your first pitch to JamBase, please include your writing background and, if possible, clips of published material.

CD REVIEWS (100 ? 500 words - unless otherwise agreed upon)
JamBase is publishing more CD reviews all the time with a growing focus on short, sharp capsule reviews. If you would like to review a CD make sure we haven\'t already covered it and that the review is timely. JamBase can often provide CDs to writers, and once you\'re a regular contributor to the CD Review section there are monthly updates of available titles.

Please email pitches (100 words or less, including artist name, album title, release date, record label and if you already have the album or need a copy) to dennis@jambase.com. If this is your first pitch to JamBase, please include your writing background and, if possible, clips of published material.

NEWSWIRE TIPS
If you have a Newswire Tip for us, please email editor@jambase.com, Subject: Newswire Tip.

PROTOCOL FOR ACCEPTED PITCHES
SUBMISSION FORM
All articles must be submitted through this form: http://www.jambase.com/Articles/AddStory.aspx

We?d also appreciate it if you took some time to format your piece to conform to JamBase standards. Take a look at what\'s published on the site in each section for a basic outline of how things are done. Please add basic HTML (paragraph breaks, italic and bold markers, band links etc), which is made easy through this form. It\'s a small amount of effort on your part but an important step in getting things published. Using this "Headsup/addstory" submission form saves time for JamBase Editors (thus creating a happy association with your work) and makes sure your contact/user name is credited appropriately. An added bonus of submitting through this form is it automatically links to your JamBase Profile so folks can see all the great articles you?ve written.

A SETLIST RECAP IS NOT A SHOW REVIEW
There are lots of places on the Internet to see setlists. We don\'t see the value in merely re-listing the songs with a simple "cool version" or "beautiful" in front of the song title. A review needs to offer something more than a fan\'s enthusiasm. It should pick up on the atmosphere, the venue, things the artist said this particular night, etc. It should put the band/artist in some context in terms of where they are in their career (did they just release an album? Did they sell out the venue? Did they do that last time in town? Was there new material? Is this a solo effort from someone in a known band?) What was different about THIS night? What stood out about the songs or the staging? Structuring the review chronologically can work if it\'s broken up, but if you break out of starting with a discussion of the opener and finishing with a recap of the encore it will go a long way towards differentiating your review from the pack. HOWEVER, a setlist at the bottom of the review is a great addition if you can find it. List it simply at the bottom of the review BUT don?t make the setlist your review.

CUT BACK ON \'PERSONAL JOURNAL\' STUFF
First-person writing can be compelling and highly entertaining, but it\'s also the easiest way to fall flat and leave folks cringing. A few small personal observations are fine, maybe even valuable, in establishing a personality behind the piece BUT we don\'t care if you\'re laptop wasn\'t working or your girl was blowing up your cell phone or you bought kind grilled cheese outside the theatre or even, many times, that you met the band and they were nice to you. We can assure you the readers REALLY don\'t care. The personal stuff we include should help illuminate the music, explain why we love it so much and in that way perhaps help the reader find ways to love it, too. A good rule of thumb is to try and make your work as universal as possible so it appeals to the widest range of readers possible. The more you talk about yourself and the mundane details of your personal experience the more likely it is you\'ll lose a reader\'s interest. In terms of style, look at reviews or features you like (both on JamBase and elsewhere), think about how that writer approached and structured their review and use that as a guidepost.

WORD COUNTS MATTER
Keep it tight and punchy. 100-words for a CD review or 500-words for a show review might seem short but only when compared with what we\'ve done in the past. The shorter format actually helps focus us the writing. It makes us choose which points we truly believe are important. Not everything needs to be stated. Not every song needs to be listed. Not every moment needs comment. Consider who you are writing for ? yourself or the reader? It does no good to write a long review (or feature) if no one is going to read it. Less Is More!

HTML FORMATING
You will make the Editor?s life much happier and stress-free if you learn these simple formatting codes. (Believe me, everyone wants a happy Editor.) The little HTML that is needed for our purposes is really quite simple, and will help save a lot of time.

Basic HTML for JamBase Articles
Break:

Line Break:

Bold: bolded text
Italics: italicized text
Links:

To a JamBase page: linked text
(This code can be generated using our Generate Links tool.)
To another website: linked text
(Use target="blank" only when linking to a webpage outside of JamBase.)
For more HTML, check out this great cheat sheet.

Formatting Tips
References to bands and venues should be linked to their JamBase page the first time they are mentioned in the article. To generate a link for a band or a venue on JamBase, go to our Generate Links tool.
Album, DVD and film titles are italicized (use double-quotes for song titles, i.e., "Sand").
Band members and guest names are bolded only the first time they are mentioned.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Using Photos in JamBase Articles
Photos are absolutely a plus for any piece of writing. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words. In most cases, you will need to have a photo pass to take pictures at a venue. Photo passes can be arranged by emailing editor@jambase.com. If you are not a regular contributor, the photo pass request must include past experience and photography samples.

Photos to JamBase
If you took photos at a show to accompany a review, you can get them developed on a disc or online to make them available for emailing. Obviously, the prime solution is to have a digital camera for its immediacy. Submit an image or photo by attaching a .jpg or .gif file to the email and send it to editor@jambase.com.

Credit Policy
Photos that are not received directly from the photographer are usually taken from various places on the web, most often the band\'s website. Credit is always given to the photographer or the original source of the photo, unless this information is not available.

Copyright/Reproduction on Other Sites
Copyright in any submission is owned exclusively by JamBase. JamBase has the right to use, reproduce, transmit, edit, publish, and distribute the submission, on JamBase or otherwise, in any form or medium. The author takes public responsibility for all of the content, including changes made by the editor. The author will receive no financial compensation for its use and understands that the submission may be edited for space, content, style, and/or grammar.

Can you (or Thatguy) drop a hint as to which states they may be visiting?

the tour is still being organized. I asked both tim and adrian about it last week so we can get the calendar updated as soon as possible once the announcement is made. Official word is that there are a multitude of dates already scheduled, but there are gaps in between several of them that they are still filling. The tour will not be announced until all the dates are finalized. Nothing was said to me about any of the venue locations, so I can\'t help you there.

That said, dates should be coming soon...

So where is the tour headed?

I\'m hoping the band makes it all the way west; so far I have heard Colorado mentioned.

Let\'s hope the planning makes sense and the venues, cities and supporting (or headlining) bands are all sound.

I have a good feeling I\'ll be able to catch a bunch of shows if this thing is announced for mid-late October.  I\'m spoiled by the local music scene and rarely have to travel more than 5-15 miles for any show.   Breakfast is definitely one of the few excuses to get on the road.

Crystal Bay!!!
