as technical as a brush fire bubble puss burn could be.  just push the bubble in the shower, if it doesnt hurt too much and im sure there will be a tiny opening where whatever colored puss will squirt out with force.

One already popped. It\'s yellow pus and blood in there. Fun stuff! I can\'t wait for the other one to pop. It\'s driving me nuts.

Brush fire bubble puss burn? That\'s a technical term, yeah?

Check out these awesome spider bites. One\'s just smaller than a dime, and the other is a little smaller than that. The doc gave me doxycycline because they\'re pretty infected, and he thought there was a chance that it might be impetigo, which is a staph infection. I guess the doxy covers both bases.

Nah. It\'s a pretty simple procedure actually. The main thing they worry about afterwards is headache, leakage, or infection. I had a headache going in, so who knows if I ended up with one due to the procedure. No leakage or infection yet that I am aware of.

I\'m not supposed to ride for a week, but that\'s because of my neck. I\'ll probably ride tomorrow if possible.

um, with something like a spinal tap, how long before you can ride horses again? I would think there would be a prolonged recovery time before you could do something like that, which would suck given your profession.

Yeah, and I actually didn\'t think it was that bad. I got one when I was in high school that was a lot worse. This time they got fluid on the first try, and it didn\'t hurt much at all. It was mostly uncomfortable. Laying on my back in a room afterwards with a broken tv for what seemed like an eternity was the worst part. I wasn\'t supposed to move and it was so boring!

So one CT scan, several blood tests, a urine test, a stool test (so embarrassing!), one lumbar puncture, and one full night in the ER later, I do not have meningitis.

Apparently I have a stomach bug that coincidentally showed up at the same time that I strained my neck. Weird. Especially considering I didn\'t DO anything to strain my neck. (Granted, being full of 4 Advil at all times all weekend, and continuing to ride probably didn\'t help matters.) I would really think that with my neck this **** up I would remember doing something to it.

So they sent me on my way this morning with a prescription for oxycodone, which is completely wreaking havoc on my stomach. *sigh*

How was your comp?

It went really well. Cole put in a dressage test that was free of meltdowns (not even one spin, bolt, or rear, yay!) which is really good for him. He jumped clean and was really fast on cross country, per usual. He had one rail down in showjumping, but he jumped really well and the rail was my fault. He ended up 7th out of about 30, and got a nice purple ribbon which really brings out his eyes. :P I\'m really happy with him, especially considering this is his first season back after a year and a half. He\'s jumping great, and feels happy and confident.

It was a tough weekend for me though... I felt like **** all weekend. I\'m actually not really sure how I got it done. Cole pulls really hard when he gallops and it was murder on my already hurting neck.

Also, having stomach issues, and only porta-potties available all weekend is NOT a good time!

Go Cole! and you of course!

I hope thoes potties were not as bad as the ones at up north. jeeze thoes things were horrible.

they were, but those employee bathrooms in that white shed were well worth hopping the fence...i could have eaten a meal off those seats

Hey, feel about the same today. Woke up this morning with pretty bad chest pain too.

My mother\'s going to come over and take me to the doctor later. My brother had a friend die of meningitis and I really don\'t want to mess around with this sore neck thing, which keeps getting worse. (From what I have read though, if it was meningitis I\'d probably be a lot sicker by now.... But worth checking out anyhow. Could be something else too that needs taking care of.)

Thanks for looking out for me. : )

Joc, a girl I work with has been out since last week with almost identical symptoms. Not to freak you out or anything, but she got admitted into the hospital today and they\'re running CAT Scans on her.

I would say initially try going to a walk in clinic, they\'re less expensive then the emergency room.

Get some kiddie Pedialytefrom the store.  Your electrolytes are probably low.

I was going to write the same thing.

I\'m thinking Lyme disease.

Go to the Doctor.

I feel for you. I\'ve had no health insurance all summer.  And it is REALLY stressful.

Do you get bitten by anything (bug wise)?  Or had anything to eat out of the ordinary?  Or like you said, could be flu??   I would go to a walk-in clinic.  They are waaaay cheaper than a hospital visit.  If you are still this way, by tomorrow, definitely go.  You are probably getting very dehydrated.   Drink plenty of fluids.   Get some kiddie Pedialyte or gatorade from the store.  Your electrolytes are probably low.

Hang in there.

Usually if someone is asking if they should go to the Hospital you have already answered your question.

If YOU think you need to go then you need to go.

The no INS. is a big issue but better to be alive with a bill then dead with no debt.

joc, i\'m going to the dr. today.  i don\'t have the stomach stuff, but my throat has been swelling up and hard to swallow since thurs. night and i have the dizziness, had a fever that went down a little, etc.  A couple coworkers had similar things, not sure if it\'s a cold/flu that\'s going around.

I have insurance however...definitely check into low cost options.  I had a cheap plan between college and a full-time job w/ bene\'s and it ran me about $150 or $200 for 6 mos. and was there just in case.  Not sure about the coverage since i luckily didn\'t need it.  Although it sounds like you may need to go in before you could get something researched and activated.

feel better darlin\'!

also try to look into health insurance options - even low cost shitty ones - does NH have state health insurance options like mass does?

good luck

I wouldn\'t jump to a Meningitis diagnosis just yet.  I would wait it out a couple more days, but if it\'s no better after a week, you have to see a Dr.

if this has already been going on for 4 days now and is the same/worse, then I would go to a doctor if you have no improvement by wednesday. Also, could all the horse riding be inflaming if not causing the neck problem? I can\'t see all the jumping as helping the situation.

hope you feel better. :sadban:

I went a long time with no health insurance and I really feel for you.  More than the other symptoms the neck stiffness is concerning to me.  Are you sleeping on a couch or in any other way to cause this?

What about these:

Are there any doctors, NPs or PAs that could lend their opinion?

Joc - I would wait it out another couple of days; if you don\'t feel any better, head to dr.  Keep drinking liquids (water, gatorade, etc..) and try and eat something (crackers, soup, anything that might stay down.  It sounds like it\'s either the flu or some other stomach virus, which unfortunately you have to let run it\'s course.  If it\'s still there after a week, it might some sort of bacterial or fungal infection and you might need an antibiotic to take care of it.

Good luck.

So I have been really sick for 3 days. My symptoms seem to be getting progressively worse. They are: stomach issues (pain/cramping/nausea/diarrhea), major headache, and an incredibly stiff and sore neck. If I don\'t keep 4 Advil in me I can\'t even really turn my head, and I can\'t look down at all. This would seem to be the flu but I have no fever, which is weird. I have had some dizzy spells, but I attribute those to being dehydrated from the **** (sorry, this is wicked gross, but whatever) and from being tired and stressed from being at a competition all weekend.

So anyhow it\'s probably just the flu but it\'s weird that it\'s getting worse and I haven\'t had that run down, feverish flu feeling at all.

Am I just being a big baby? I have no health insurance and thus don\'t want to go to the hospital if I don\'t need to.

Input appreciated.
