Trey also mentioned that his mentor, and the reason we love his musicianship, Ernie Stires, passed away a few days ago.

Sounds like all the reason Trey needs for a little pharmie bender.

jammys was o.k.   lots of musicians playing covers..some good, some boring. was pretty much there to see phish and though they didnt play Page playing Magilla and Cars trucks Buses with these jazz cats (christian mcbride on bass!!) was a highlight for me. Chevy Chase and Keller could have been better/funnier, they did a couple songs \'keller style\'. Chase accepted the award when Keller won and did a spoof on award accepting speeches. Clean cut Trey came out during While My Guitar Gently Weeps and people were happy to see him. When Phish won lifetime achievement  they showed clips from the 20th anniversary montage and Trey (who looked a bit frail) basically spoke and commented on Phish being bigger than the 4 of them and their great crew and all that stuff.  Galactic was boring during show performance and was just background music for me at the afterparty. Met some of the musicians at BB Kings, but Danny Clinch (phish photographer) was cool to run into.

also been almost 4 years since coventry and almost 8 years since they broke u the first time...hard to believe.

todd >it seems that they are most likely  to be nominated for performance of the year for covering a phish album. THe fact phish is being honored at the show might might have an impact on the outcome. Or myabe not.

I just read else where that Phish is getting the life time achievment award this year.

This could help or hurt the breakfast\'s chances.

Not sure which it will do though.

How does that affect anything to do with The Breakfast?

ALL IN for FF9. It\'s the only reasonable shot for a band in their position. I think throwing them in for the live recording category would be a mistake and come across as a fluff. FF9 is so legitimate and should, hopefully, get votes from people outside of this circle. Everyone should spend their energy on FF9, all else is a waste of time and we\'ll be arguing in our corner once again come nomination announcements.

I agree with FF9.

Now is when I admit that I am not enough of a fan of the "scene" to cast an inteligent ballot. However, if there were to be a "voter information" sub-thread (with a random assortment of completed ballots with reasons) I might be more inclined to vote.

I agree that just sending "FF9" would be a waste of time, as would sending in an all-breakfast ballot...maybe i should have put my logic before my conclusion (ie swap this paragraph and the one before it)...either way, help would be appriecated.

Lets not forget that the Breakfast have already won a Jammy...

And I agree, spamming him with nothing but The Breakfast and showing him that you didn\'t take your time and think out your response will just get it ignored. It may even **** him off, which is in no way good for the band.

since i find most jambands silly, unoriginal, obnoxious, boring and contrived, i\'m gonna have to sit this one out.  however i agree that if we want the band to be taken seriously, the ballots should be filled in a well thought out, thorough manner.  showing that you can type "the breakfast" thirty times doesn\'t really get anyone\'s attention.  this isn\'t the jambands 250.

looks to me like there would only be 2 eligible categories anyways (live performance, and *maybe* download, depending on what they consider that to be, like leith said).

moxie epoxy was 2006.

The Jammys are back and we need your help?

On behalf of Relix Magazine, Jambands.com and Peter Shapiro, I am happy to report that the show will return to the Theatre at Madison Square Garden on May 7 and we are soliciting your help with the nomination process. Your voice matters to us (and the prospective nominees) so please take a few moments, fill out the nomination ballot below and return it to me (Dean@relix.com)

Please feel free to nominate as many as five worthy candidates in each of the categories below. You certainly may nominate less than five and you do not need to submit nominations for every category. Please use your best judgment as you look back over the calendar year 2007. Your responses will remain confidential.

Please send your nomination ballot back to me (dean@relix.com) by Friday March 21. If you have any questions about the process, please contact me as well.

Thank you for your assistance and support?

Yeah OK maybe 2.

The FF9 is a nice choice for Live Performance.
4 shows in a row is not a tour
Your archival choice is not an album
Your DVD choice is not an official release. I do not believe they award fan DVD\'s
Your choice for live download is nice if they include shows released by fans not just the bands themselves.

Don\'t be such a hater dude
You call it hating I call it being realistic.

If anything is going to be coordinated it seems the band\'s best bet is the FF9 Performance with the sit in of Cactus which we should all get behind.

I think it would be in the band\'s best interest to fill out the nomination sheets as completely as possible.  Often one line entries or single band entries are dismissed as ballot stuffing and not counted.
