at the time of the show it definitely was the best **** ever. retty much show is at the time and few a while after depending on how long it takes to come down and how good the the show actually was. heh i was soooo blazed at the show though there was nag champa burning in the bathroom so i kept taking like or 4 hits every time i went to ****. but listening back it was kind of a sloppy performance. spontaneous and off the wall but a bit sloppy and disconnectedness. ithaca was just tight as hell all they way through.
-
in retrospect I think ithaca was definitely the better of the two upstate shows.
haha. so much for best breakfast show you\'ve ever seen (see setlist: mezzanote thread)
fair enough
-
.... so anyways, this mayfly is **** crazy!
-
So Jam>SCA>The Sound would be better?
-
I don\'t want to start this argument again, Dave has stated his feelings and he is the archivist. That is one point that there will never be a concensus. I am just talking more about the tracking in this particular \'SCA->The Sound\'.
-
every "jam" should have a name, that way the breakfast will have many more songs in their catalogue, even if more of them are one time only plays
-
a jam is a jam, if by any other name....
-
I tend to agree w/ Walsh that a lot of jams listed are not actually jams but rather extended intros to songs.
It\'s just many folk do not know this band well enough to make that distinction.
-
i\'m firmly against all "SCA"s and most "jam"s...paralysis by analysis
i think i\'m in the minority here, though
-
Derrick, I was thinking the same thing on this occasion. It really is just a few seconds of spaciness, and then you definitely can tell that they are in an intro to \'The Sound\'. I think it is Chris that is showing the way the most, and maybe a little of Ad\'s drumming, it goes \'out there\' for a few minutes and then returns as they build back into it. It seems to be correct in the SCA->The Sound notation, it is just the tracking that seems to be a little off. \'SCA\' is still only a minute or 2...then it is an intro to the Sound. imho.
Either way, the recording is TOP NOTCH. It really sounds great, with all four mixed perfectly.
-
i don\'t agree with the SCA song notation sometimes because it\'s the opening jam of a tune same thing with jam. sure sometimes they are warranted but i can pick up on tunes fairly quickly from the jam and if you can catch hints wouldn\'t just be the beginning of the song. but hey i only take pictures.......
What is the actual criteria to call a jam to be called SCA
I think Dave may know the actual criteria but I have always used this rule: If it sounds like SPACE they are probably starting a SCA

since i cant comment in the other closed thread that walsh made...i think its funny how closed threads often get a lot more visits/views than open ones, usually because people are curious why dave closed it.

Anyone want to let me in on how this is a SCA and not Jam to start the show?
If it is a SCA it is the jammiest non spacey SCA ever.
If a SCA needs to be there it has to be Jam>SCA>Jam>The Sound
Please Leith, the word \'jam\' appears enough already in these setlists;)
Know what sux?
I can\'t argue that.

because some folks want flacs but don\'t ftp, and, primarily, so that the breakfast is out there on the boards to be seen, as opposed to people having to go look for them on archive. its more of a marketing thing, really. thanks!
-
just making sure it\'ll be ok to torrent the flac\'s on bt.etree... i won\'t change anything or take any credit, i\'ll just upload it with all file info the same...
You can if you want. Why bother though? Its on Archive 24-7........... for life.

I started to get hungry while I was writing a paper, so I decided to download these tasty grooves and am now feeling fully rejuvenated. ThankYou
