Title: i need to find out how to download PB mp3\'s insted of flac files and SHN

i DO have shnamp, but that is only good temporarily because the shn files are so big that I cannot keep the file on my hard disk. That\'s why I convert them to mp3 for storage... other wise I\'d have over 100 gigs of just PB shows. And in actuallity, isn\'t many shows.

Before I even knew about being able to get PB shows off Archive, I used Kazaa and was able to get SOME recordings in MP3 for my personal use, but I finally broke down and figured out how to manipulate .shn and that opened up so much for my listening pleasure. Once I successfully download the whole .shn show, I convert and burn to disc, then I have been keeping the .mp3 versions on my PC for easy storage and listening while I am online. But I also have back up data CDs of all the .shn files, so that at any time I can go back and reconvert to burn the .wav. That\'s the best way I have found to do it. I am now going to have to figure out .flac manipulation, but from what I gather, it isn\'t too much more difficult.

I have been downloading SHNs on dialup since 1999 and i dont even think its that bad. I still download the shows faster than i can listen to them. Its takes me about 3-4 days for a 1 gig show. I dont know how cable could be too slow for you. If its actually a slow upload from the person on the other end then just download 5 or 6 at once.

And please don\'t convert anything i tape to mp3 and trade it.

Play along and deal....the longer the wait for a show, the more you appreciate it when it\'s done. Just thank heavens that Al Gore invented this thing called "The Internet" so you can get shows at all.

why do you want mp3s? poor internet connection?

make sure if you do find mp3s to download that if you spread those shows out and give em to anyone else that they\'re clearly marked as being mp3s!

good luck finding em, wish i had some suggestions. furthurnet maybe?
