Title: Rush World Tour 2008
Post by: tyzack on July 14, 2008, 10:46:08 am
I could have used a warning about the demographics of the crowd.

Best quote:

Some old dude
"Back in the day, all this haze would have been pot smoke."

Well, sir, I did my part!

Gavin and I are going tonight.  Look for a group of gypsies rocking breakfast gear.

saw the mohegan show, was great preformance with a really mellow crowd. THat said, it was CT on a monday night. Same setlist as a few posts above, had a cygnus tease in the end of yyz and a jacobs ladder tease at the end of bangkok. Neil changed up the solo a little since last tour, same format and still has the main themes from a show of hands solo (pieces of 8 and mombos dance party) as well as the buddy rich solos from the vapor trails tours. He also threw in some teases and changed up the big band song on the jazz section. Set 2 has a lot of snakes and arrows in it. WOuld have liked to have gotten so many other songs but I\'m not complaining. Awesome show. Have fun guys!

The guy who was going to take my two Rush tickets is moving and thus doesn\'t want the tickets anymore. If anyone is interested, let me know.

7/11/2008
Rush, Verizon Wireless Arena, Manchester, NH
Number of tickets: 2
Seat Locations: Section FLOOR5, Row DD, Seats (1, 2)
Floor P2 All Ages

I paid $161.85 for them, but will sell them sans service and delivery charges if that\'s what it takes to get rid of them. That comes to $132.00.

If no one else has asked already, I\'ll take those happily.

Foo Fighters fans who attended last night\'s show at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto got a BIG surprise about half way through the set. Right at the end of Taylor Hawkins\' drum solo Dave Grohl announced that he wanted to introduce a couple of his friends ... Geddy Lee and Alex **** Lifeson! (apparently Alex has a middle name I wasn\'t aware of). Then came the opening chimes of YYZ and they jammed out the entire song. They left immediately afterwards without saying anything but Dave Grohl kept bragging about it for the rest of the show; We just had Rush play at a Foo Fighters concert, Taylor had the balls to play drums for Rush in Rush\'s hometown, etc. The Foo Fighters are huge Rush fans and got to know the guys through common producer Nick Raskulinecz. Many thanks to the lucky bastards who were at the show and gave me their reports - Brian, Amanda G and dingo. :

there is a pretty decent video also

Due to my competition schedule and James\' work schedule, it looks like the only decent festival that we will be able to get to is All Good. This falls upon the same weekend as the Manchester, NH, Rush show. Since I did get to see Rush last year, and I haven\'t been to a festival in several years, and James has never been to one in the US, I am selling my Rush tickets.

I know Manchester is a bit out of the way for most of you, but here is the information if you are interested:

7/11/2008
Rush, Verizon Wireless Arena, Manchester, NH
Number of tickets: 2
Seat Locations: Section FLOOR5, Row DD, Seats (1, 2)
Floor P2   All Ages

got my mohegan. With the exception of one or two songs being alternated night to night in the show, rush does the same setlist every show, so you only need to see them once per leg of the tour.

you\'er crazy. That album was a brilliant move because it opened him up to a whole new generation of fans that otherwise NEVER would have bought his album.. Also, an angel told him to do it. Best marketing strategy he could have done. Sure I\'d like the older stuff as well, but you can\'t argue with how great a move that was.
Yeah it was a great move to sell more albums and reach the MTV audiance. It was not a great move musically.

I enjoy Santana, but have been really dissapointed with the past couple duet albums.  I\'d rather see him release archived concerts than hear another song with the likes of Rob Thomas.

Absolutely. I lost some respect for Santana after that album came out. He is a great guitarist it\'s just too bad he had to go the MTV route.

Geddy always puts silly things on stage. The tour before (Vapor trails/rush in rio) he had dry cleaners and periodically they pulled shirts out of them and threw them into the audience. All the shirts are red and you still see them time to time at shows. They have the sun/moon logo on the front and on the back they say "This shirt came from dryer #2" or some such. They have also had the giant inflatable rabbits on the presto tour not to mention videos for pretty much every song running the gauntlet from cheesy to hiliarious. On the R30 tour they had Jerry Stiller wake up in a lounge chair to start the show, or last years south park kids playing tom sawyer with a pun on time signatures and alternate lyrics:

Quote
Cartman: I\'m geddy lee, I wrote the lyrics. ready? 1--2--3--1234567-12345-1--2-- a modern day warrior of mean mean stride, here comes tom sawyer down the river with a black man"
Kyle: Cartman, those are not the words!

naturally of course though, it was neil and not geddy who wrote the lyrics.

THey just like to have weird things happen on stage like this that they ignore or pretend are perfectly normal.

I\'d vote for MA.

As I am pushing for a Breakfast contingant there.

I was a closet Rush fan for most of my life, and only got around to going to one of their shows last year. Chicken roastiery aside, it was amazing and somewhat hilarious.

FZ - do you know what the deal with the roastiery was?

I\'ve never been to the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchvegas, but for some reason I\'m not suprised that it sucks. It seems like they always have 80\'s hair bands playing there.

I\'d like to check out Rush since I\'ve recently got over my dislike for Geddy Lee\'s voice. I still don\'t realy like it (except for certain songs) but I can tolerate it. They have made some **** amazing music for just three dudes.
