btw, If you don\'t feel like passing out the handbills, another good idea (which I\'m sure you already know) is to leave stacks at nearby businesses... package stores & college campuses & music shops are pretty lenient about letting you put the handbills on the counter. It\'s be a shame to waste all the promo materials! If you have any local friends, put them on the job of handing them out too! :awwyeah:
I agree that people who just hand fliers out at shows are wasting their time... but, I have definitely seen some bands that I wouldn\'t normally have seen when the person with the fliers makes an effort to talk to me about the band - the style, musical influences, etc. - instead of just putting a paper in my hand and walking away.

So I might just tape a bunch of Breakfast fliers around the Calvin and lamp posts nearby a few hours before Umphrey\'s goes on.

i have to go back the same night because i have a seminar early saturday morning. I was planning on driving, because tonyas friend danielle drove us to toads a couple weeks ago. i think both of them are going to IH, so ill drive them, and ill have room for one other. The whole upsate crew can probably fit into 2 cars. maybe we can all meet up near albany and get food before we head out.

Pretty random....but your post made me think of something. Back in the day when I use to eat meat I would go fishing on occasion. When I was living in TN, I went fishing one day. i didnt really move from where i was the whole time, which was pretty much right in front of the stage, all the way as far left as you could go on the 21+ side (so basically up against the fence and the stage). it was one of those nights where i was so into the music/drunk that i didnt really take notice as to what/who was around me that much besides the band. Anywho, as you said, we\'ll meet at this one.
I was pretty drunk too. If i did meet you, I would not remember..... I am still piecing together the night.... But we shall meet in MA.

I forgot about the ones from the middle east show. I can send you 35 new covers (stickers) to place over the older ones if you want. I\'ll throw another 15 promo discs in with it as well. I\'ll try to get them in the mail by next Friday.

That was a good show. It was freezing and the kid i was with was tittering on a pain killer od....but that aside, it was a great show.

that show was a lot of fun... me and my friend actually got something written up about the band in the Umass newspaper. front page of the arts and entertainment section with a bunch of pics. just goes to show how much promotion has to do with getting people in the door. i don\'t live up there anymore, but i will def be at this show.

And they stepped up their game at the Freakout show considerably vs. the show before that (one of the weakest PB/TB shows I ever saw)
The Breakfast is definitely making a comeback in this, the area of five colleges.
Of course these shows are the most exciting for me, as I can literally walk 5 minutes down the street to the show. I will do what I can to get the balcony opened up (not as easy as it sounds!!)

The Iron Horse is a small venue. The upstairs isn\'t huge, just a reserve space with extra tables and chairs when the crowd warrants its opening. Adds an extra layer above a packed house (and a sense of accomplishment, as it means the venue is closer to capacity).
