Title: info on cheap/useful earplugs for shows (please read!)
Post by: krispy on May 02, 2008, 03:14:51 pm
I swear by my Etymotics!  I work as a sound man in a couple of clubs in the Hartford area 2 or 3 nights a week and these plugs are so good I can eq a room with them in.  very little loss or distortion, it\'s like you just turn down the volume.

For what it\'s worth Jocelyn, those plugs in your link look almost exactly like the etymotics. probly about the same thing.

Go to a merzbow show without earplugs once in your life.

The pain is part of the music.

Afterwards, the breakfast still sound "quiet" comparatively.

This has been a dissapointing year in sports for me all around

- Yankees (rallied to make the playoffs, but left too early)
- Jets (I really don\'t need to say any more, but I hope they can pull off two more wins so that Mangini is not forever compared to Kotite.  I still think that he\'s much better than the way the team is performing this year)
- SCSU (It\'s D2, so it really doesn\'t matter)
- Rutgers (I guess I can take refuge in the fact that they are going to a bowl game)

My only hope is that The Devils continue to play the way they have over the last 7 games and that Gomez (the traitor) tears his achilles.

Thanks Postom.  Now let\'s tackle the serious issue: when are you going to get rid of that "NY Jets: Road to Super Bowl" tag?

ha!

when they win.

you may have to suffer for a long time.

And it\'s also great for creating impacted ear wax for those of us that have that problem.

this discussion was started in another thread but since this is valuable information for everyone i decided to start a new thread about this.

http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er20.aspx. these are great cause they reduce decible level at shows without muffling the sound. you\'ll thank me in 10 years. i\'m 29 and i already have minor damage from all the shows i\'ve been to (i have ringing in one ear a few times a week) - and it supposedly gets worse over time :(.  wearing these at breakfast shows - it\'s so loud that i don\'t even notice i have earplugs in.

to get them for very cheap:

go here:
http://www.ttvj.com/

if you sign up/create an account, they will send you an email with a code to get $10 off your first order.

then go here and they are $10 a pair
http://www.ttvj.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=440

i bought two pairs for $14.60 including shipping in may and i\'m still on my first pair.  you can just wipe them down with a wet cloth after/between uses.  they\'re great.  i never go anywhere without them now.  and you can clip the case on your purse or your keys or your belt loop so you don\'t lose them.
