A few decent sing-along tunes:
"My Sweet Lord" - George Harrison
"Shooting Star" - Bad Company
"Drift Away" - Dobie Gray
- I\'ve been told that everybody is tired of this song because of the Uncle Kracker cover. But I don\'t listen to the radio or watch MTV, so the original is still a great tune to me.

yesterday i walk into the gym, mike is waiting for me.. what song is on?? lump. it was obviously meant to be. :)
lump lingered last in line for brains..

Thanks everybody for another great night in the state that wishes it could be more like Massachusetts. Great to see everyone. helluvahat, nice to meet ya! Very interesting setlist, never can tell what it\'s going to be! I love that. Quite the sing along; I held back for a while but the influence of a few pints and and your fabulous voices finally got me singing too. Buncha fuckin cheerleaders. ;) Anyhow, I am TERRIBLE Monkeyball player. I think out of 3 gos I got maybe 10 points. ugh. I really don\'t like video games and I think it\'s more because I am so bad at them than it is because I have good intellectual objections. I\'m a smokin\' Lion King player though....
-
there were more breakfast tunes than usual tonight, no? i got there kinda late (the end of dig?) but i can recall a really nice sundance, questionmark, and attraction. the patience sing-along was a definite highlight too.
here\'s (i think) the correct lyrics to that happy little ditty, fade to black:
Life it seems, will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things are not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this can?t be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he?s gone
Like a steam locomotive, rollin\' down the track
he\'s gone, gone, nothing\'s gonna bring him back....he\'s gone
No one but me can save myself, but it?s too late
Now I can?t think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say good-bye
-
\'howdidily doodilly everybody\' was deffinatley a Toads place show or maybe on more than one occasion. Great time tonight...new acoustic sounds brilliant and the setlist was as creative as ever. have fun in brooklyn ..ill be eatin Raisinets and lookin out for you at the live big screen telecast..so go nuts!!
-
the metallica was kinda hurtin...we had a strong first verse, but i think it was cause we combined like a mix of 3 verses into that one...totally chaotic fun nonetheless

Peck wins two free beers (or any other drink that costs the same as a beer; let\'s call it a limit of $9.00 total for two drinks). Now your mission is to somehow stop Cliff if he decides to charge a cover.
I like the "I\'ll buy you a beer if..." trend. It will spread solidarity. As long as Dwayne doesn\'t try the "I\'ll buy you a beer if..." on Joc or Diana. I know what you\'re thinking, old timer.

I\'ll be at Cliff\'s, but not pregaming. As always, I\'m armed and ready to pay a cover if necessary... unless somebody wants me to sponsor them. First person to respond gets two beers on me tomorrow (unless Cliff makes me pay a cover).

there was talk last week about meeting up at Sidebar (Orange Street; New Haven) before the show. people still up for that? there are at least a few of us going there around 7:15-7:30 for dinner/drinks.. if you haven\'t been there before, i definitely suggest getting there hungry. food is fantastic!
roll call...

I will be there with bells on. I am thinking about sporting a protective cup if you are gonna be there Pec. Especially if they have jager.

I collect the Wind? (King Crimson), Everynight, Blowin In The Wind, Crystal Ship, some Beck tune, Syd Barrett Medley (Effervescant Elephant,?,?), Working Class Hero, 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin Groovy), Little Sister, Strawberry Fields, QuestionMark and the Mind, Sleeping Beauty, Aja, Simpleton>Son of Simpleton, I Want To Get High w/ Can you Dig Those Episodes teases, Uncle Albert
2: Mike\'s Song>I\'m the Slime>Weekapaug Groove, Heather, Truckin, Only a Fool (Steely Dan), Reelin In The Years, missed something here...., Hits From The Bong, Something, Still Rock and Roll to Me, House of the Rising Sun, Lit, Star Spangled Banner...
There are definately some blank spots that need fillin on here. Last night was the wackiest of all the solo timmy shows i have been to. Some of my highlights were Crystal Ship with a sick Spanish Caravan teaser in the beginning. The 59th Street Bridge song was great but I screwed timmy by givin him the 2nd verse 1st. The Question Mark was one of the best I have heard. My favorite moment was Mikes>Slime>Weekapaug pure greatness. SickSick Weekapaug, As well as the Heather and Something put the 2nd set into orbit...
Great to see everyone as per usual. See you on friday....
No More Richters! Guiness Nazi\'s.....
I am sure Cliff will be happy to get a solo timmy hiatus.....

Simply for the fact of official documentation: "Sally" was written to the tune of "Polly" in reference to the best pizza place in the world having the shoddiest service in the world as we waited for two hours pre-show last night. To be fair, everyone contributed as the song\'s lyrics arose from our angst over many blunders, none of which will not be elaborated upon. Props to Tim, Adrian, Tang, Pec, Fitz and Paul for making the sacrifice with myself. Of course, when the pizza arrived nobody gave a **** anymore as we ate in record time. And I still thought the song was just a private joke, even though Tim talked about playing it. It\'s definitely still a joke, though it\'s anything but private now. But I\'m glad he played it. Fuckin\' hilarious. And completely deserved.

-
holy ****, joce was there??
i was totally expecting to go, at least for the 1st set.. but we were at sally\'s for THREE HOURS, and it was close to 10 by the time we got outta there.. i had some impromptu work to do for the morning, so i had to head home.. :( bummer.

That was so much fun... Even with the lack of Guinness at Richters (what, did you guys drink them dry?) AND half an hour of arguing with Yankees fans. Got my TFA! Missed a couple of key songs while I was outside though, would have liked to have heard Let\'s Make the Water Turn Black for example. ah well. Thanks for a good night everybody... Wish I could go next week, but alas.
I get to drive down to Southbridge (again) to teach more riding lessons in a few hours, and really I just came from there.... ugh I need sleeeeeeep.....

No. Faster than a porpoise....
I know no zappa...but it was lets make the water turn black
There was some sallys references in Polly, but I was not catching them.....

Unreal night last night. I love the Timmy McCartney stuff always. Great HLH. Tweezer Reprise was the coolest Phish tune I have heard him do yet. Vera St. is still one of my favorites. TFA w/ Adrian was fantastic. Adrian 2 weeks in a row? Can we go for 3?
I have been dying for a PB Mommy Whats a Funkadellic for sometime now. I still want it, but my appetite has be satiated for now. SICK.
The Dig could be the best Dig I have ever heard solo or with the band. And I though last weeks Love Lake was great, but last nights blew it out of the water, even with the cheezeball 80\'s medley.
1 is the Loneliest Number was great to hear. Was that a 1st time Played????
Sunny Afternoon is a tune I have seen on setlists but never seen live, and what a treat it was.....
Great night. Catch you all for THE FINAL SOLO TIMMY GIG next week!!!!!
Thanks to Cliff and everyone at 232 for yet another sweet and wonderful wednesday

i just want to say that i had a very "ser" night last night. i\'m so glad i was able to experience at least one of these solo shows. tim\'s so damn awesome. great set list. personal favorites were - from the beginning, gravity, the chase. solo of timothy leary/palmieri was really cool too. hope that napkin is found - so much work went into it! super fun time hanging w/ everyone. i really hope i\'ll make it out to another solo show, but we\'ll see.
-
Sir I am so ser that last night was ser and Friday will be ser\'er than ser Sir....
classic !!!

Are you "Sir" or are you"Ser"?

"My girlfriend doesn\'t have a ****."
That was hilarious... Nothing like Richters Pregame.
I tried to keep a setlist last night. With the help of Wah, Drew, and the rest of the crew, it seemed pretty complete. Too bad it was on a napkin. If I get home and the napkin reveals itself, I\'ll post the setlist unless Chris beats me to it....

haha. adrien used to complain that he hated being on stage because we all had the whole night to meet and mingle, where he only had a few sweaty minutes between sets and after the show when people had already left or hooked up, and he was left alone to break down the drum kit. Of course, now he has a girlfriend but I guess the cockblocking technically applies to the whole band.

Id like to give ourselves a hand for some great singing. Tim was ripping as usual but we really exceeded our own expectations with some great back up vocals during \'basketcase\' \'black hole sun\' and \'cities\' to name a few. Lets keep this thread alive as the longest thriving thread...well i think next wednsday is the last one so maybe not.

I am going. I have my car back now and I can give you a ride... Hit me back when you get back to F.U. We can drink some beers and find some woman. hehehehe, no Wolf, the woman are for us. Sorry. ;)

Driving home sucked... and if you ever have to drive a really drunk person home and you don\'t know where he lives, make sure to get directions to their house while he is sober.
All things snowy aside, last night was probably my favorite of the 3 acoustic shows I\'ve been to on Wooster Street (12/17, 01/07, 01/14).
I hope to make it next week, but I\'ll be back at school. If only I knew somebody who lived in Fairfield who might have his car fixed by then... *cough*Gray*cough*.
Just kidding Gray, but if you are going, let me know.
-
DAMNIT!! I keep forgetting about these and then remebering on thursdays... I gotta get on the ball. Plan to catch it next week.
-
last night was ser.good clean fun at cliffs steakhouse.timmyp is the man!
-
cause there are no PB shows to talk about...
and 6 nights of SoloTimmy at Cliff\'s Steakhouse is definatly worth talking about....
I am waiting for the 2004 East Coast **** Tour to be announced. Where the band will be visiting all its old haunts (Cafe 9, The Reef, and other Mass and RI spots) That will be a popular thread....
-
How the hell did this thread become so popular?
-
Fantastic acoustic renderings of these killer PB originals......
Great night last night. It seemed the weather kept the crowds away, but for everyone who did make it, boy was it worth the trip....
Timmy busted out a couple of "first timers" Paint it Black, 59th St. Bridge Song, Sparkle (with fantastic singalong), and a few others...
A couple of other tunes played that are coming into my brain...
Hard to Handle (With The Rev on vocals complete with rockstar shades...kinda resembling the latter years Jim Morrison)
Subteranian Homesick Blues
....
ChrisF, I hope I didnt completely destroy your recording, but last night was a blast.... I couldnt keep my big mouth shut.....
Hope you all made it home safe and sound...
peace
gencs

yeah...bob was the singing in a metal band i was in before he joined naked society. i remember hearing some peal jam, green day, stp, rhcp, ratm. i was only about metal and **** back then so i wasn\'t really diggin it, but i remember adrian\'s solo blew me away. at last i heard, bob had become known as "dj buggin" and was wearin shiny silk shirts and spinnin at gotham city. i remember hanging out with bob and some of the pb family back in 95. we went over this kid\'s house (laszlo??) to drop off/pick up equipment...and then a bunch of people crammed into bob\'s monte carlo and we proceeded to pass my mini bong around (stupid move, driving around staven...silly kids!) ah...good times, good times...
-
nice. pantera.
-
not i... original naked society singer was Bobby Letskus (sp?), from thaven... hence playing at thaven high school...
actually, now that i think about it, it might be more like 83%... there was some pantera, rage, pearl jam, and other stuff in there too...
-
93% of your show was greenday in 94? couldnt have been a long show, you only had 3 albums to pull from... gotta know who sang during that one peck.
-
nice.. i actually played drums with tim and ron for that same gig a year later... i think we played like 93% green day tunes...
-
i\'m 27...graduated nhhs \'95. back in \'94 i remember adrian (and ron?) played in the cafeteria during this "all night lock in" thing.
-
i was there for the first set... i was sitting up front with tim\'s parents... i know we\'ve talked before, but i don\'t think i ever met you...
how old are you? just curious.. i know a few people from \'thaven...
-
hi. i\'m steven from \'thaven and i\'m a pb(Tb)holic. i wish i knew who everybody was from the board. i got to meet chris and fredddie and todd last night. i\'ll put a photo on that page so you can put a face to the name.
-
who are you mr. nebula???? :)
-
great time last night!! had a nice dinner, finally got my girlfriend out to experience some of tim\'s guitar wizardry. hopefully she\'ll come with me to nye...i put my foot down and made it clear that i was not going to miss out!!! cliff\'s a cool guy. we were finishing up dinner as tim was tuning up and he came by and said "i hope you don\'t mind the music..." i was like "****, son! that\'s why we\'s here!!!" later i seen him singing "legend of a mind" to himself at the bar while tim was laying it down! highlights for me were the little segment of FATHER O\'BLIVION, still rock n roll to me, and christmas in \'staven.
-
I vote Timmy\'s version to permanently replace the kc101 radio classic Its Christmas time in E\'staven. he was hilarious!
great job on all the xmas tunes. was impressed with the prep work.
fred on keys, an added touch, understated bonus, appreciated and wonderful.
Chris fitz, I\'m assuming you got the setlist on the way, im too lazy, i mean busy... ok i\'ll work on it, see who gets it here 1st.
-
Great Time Last Night....Thanks to the kindness of Cliff for letting the crew come into his fine establisment and enjoy an evening of drinking, laughing, and some of the finest live music out there....
Thanks to Chris F. for kicking me the TPalms acoustic show from last week, guaranteed to be the best present I will get this year.
Last night was amazing. YEM>Fearless>YEM.....and a stunning Legend of a Mind were par for the course as far as song selection. Christmas in \'Staven, another classic... It was great to hear the Mokijam stuff as well. ****...Uh er...I mean EggNog...just plain fantastic....
I am looking forward to catching the setlist, and I must recognize Timmy for throwing down Billy Joel\'s Its Still Rock and Roll To Me. I will always remember the look on Wah\'s face as Timmy and Durf threw down this "classic".....
-
acoustic yem... :D
-
there will be people there, I\'m leaving in 5 minutes. . .
-
Hopefully someone will go tonight and tell us about tim FREAKING out like he always does..

i listened to philadelphia from the other night and it was comparable to a xanax.maybe even a double bar..

When I saw DMB open for Phish up in Davis back in \'94 I was puzzled by the combo. I did not know @ the time the bands were friends and it seemed odd to have a band like DMB open for Phish. DMB did jam a bit but it was not until I saw them open for GD in \'95 that I heard any real improv from them. DMB write some terrific songs but jamming them beyond what was written happens very rarely w/ DMB. Needless to say we have another great guitar player to listen to play acoustically. Go TIM !!!
-
I just gotta say that in the light of DMB, and it\'s community, I don\'t feel as if they should even be classified as a jam band. To me, and keep in mind the words "to me" imply a totally subjective statement, Jam bands are bands that hold a solid foundation for a song but allow the song to change and take totally improvised form on stage. Dave Matthews, DMB, D+T, all of them, don\'t do this. While they do take on some role of making the live act interesting and changing up a few solos, while keeping the sections the same time, they do not in anyway produce entirely improv material (with the exceptions of guests who generally tend to improvise).
the crazed and devoted fans, and mind you there is nothing wrong with devotion, need to come to some senses on what is what. I understand that some feel entirely happy with listening solely to 500,000,000 million versions of two step, crash, stmts -->astb--> something, and that someone can live entirely happy with just one band. However, don\'t let a one tracked musical taste deter you from what the fine tunning definitions of a jamband are. Understandably, DMB does "jam" from time to time, and, this current DM+F jam\'s also; however, they are far from the likes of real jams in terms of the current community\'s, as well as past relics, abilities and solid playing skills that we all call jams.
Please, dont take me as a DMB hater. I have been to 7 DMB related shows and I plan to attend my 8th tonight at MSG. I just don\'t see any link between them and what the major jam band communities see as the qualifications of a jamband other than their taping policies.

I have heard that too. If and when I listen to DMB now I listen to pre 94 shows. The 93 shows have some awesome jamming and I feel that those years are the true representation of the band. Now adays, they are just a watered down band who wants to please everyone in the world and play all their hits every night to make the "teeny boppers" happy. I do wish that they would go back to their roots and become the band that they once were. They have so much talent and it all seems to go to waste.
If you want to hear DMB they way they uset to sound take a listen to the 08.19.1993 show. Warren Haynes guests on a few tracks and it\'s simply amazing. The Typical Situation > Blue Water is what makes this show.
Set I:
Satellite
Ants Marching
Granny

One Sweet World

Set II:

But I\'m 19 years old, and I have been surrounded by hundreds of the DMB fans that most "jam fans" despise for the past seven or eight years, and they annnoy the crap out of me. I listen to a lot of PB, but if you stop by my dorm room, you aren\'t going to here them playing 24/7. I listen to a lot of other bands too. The majority of these college (and high school) Dave Matthews Band fans think that they have found the pinnacle and refuse to listen to anything else (unless it\'s a shitty band like OAR). And while I can definitely appreciate anybody who is helping guys like Warren Haynes get more exposure, I don\'t think that the right people are around to appreciate it. Based on my experience, Dave fans don\'t want to hear a sick 15-minute jam on "Watchtower". They want to hear all of their favorite songs at every show.
I suppose the root of my problem is that Dave Matthews is becoming a figurehead of all things "jamband" to the rest of the world. I guess I shouldn\'t be complaining if a star of that caliber is going to be putting more people at PB shows, but I don\'t think that the Dave Matthews Band is an accurate representation of the music we all listen to.
Not that I\'m bitter, I\'m just sick of all of my friends who are Dave Matthews fans that won\'t give PB a chance.
Dave Matthews Band is not a "Jam Band". As for OAR, I do not like there music. It just seems very hollow and like ________, feel in the blank. You know what I want to say. They are a party band as far as I\'m concered. As for the DMB fans who won\'t give PB a listen, it\'s annoying at times. They are so centered around him and that John Mayer tool. They seem to think that they are gods and are the best musicans in the world. Hopefully as they grow up and they grow out of the whole frat/lets get drunk and puke at shows phase they will expand their musical horzions. It takes a true music fan to appericate PB\'s music.

"A lot of people seemed to dislike the show."
Becaus they were expecting Trey to be in the spotlight...I hate stupid phish fans... Dave gets abused in some circles becuase of the types of fans he attracts. No matter, that has nothing to do with his creativity and artistic ability, and that guy is talanted...

ChrisF, glad you can remember that many beers, heh, i\'ll stick with the sierra.
I work in a restaurant, so for some reason i always pay attention to those kinds of things when i go to another restaurant.
and i am sure tim wont care if you want to take photographs, but he might think its funny that you want to in the first place since the acoustic shows arent that big of a deal.

Maybe he will since the house was packed last week. If that wall that separates the bar area from the dining room it would be perfect, but there isn\'t much that can be done about that.

WOW tim! What a lovely evening that started out sounding like a practice session and ended up a most amazing session of guitar finger exercise ever heard! from old syd barrett to beatles to love lake to dentist office-style xmas tunes (in a good way!) to did i hear sample in a jar? fee? huh?
someone in the audience (near full house i would say for a teeny bar, 1/4 or so of the pristine-looking restaurant) cried about the poor view of tim\'s hand from where he was standing. it was his 1st time seeing him and he couldn\'t believe what he was hearing was real!
anyone who didn\'t make it, we\'re in for a real treat next week promised exclusive xmas theme complete with red santa hats. shall be so worth the trip and 4 hrs sleep!
