my original piece of the cross jesus was crucified on
how in God\'s name do you have that?
Jon- Yale actually owned the entire cross. In 1994 they chopped it up and sold the pieces to fund a new freshman dorm they were building. I\'m kind of bored with my piece. I sell it to you for half of what I paid for it.
mine cost $666 so if you are getting it half price that is quite a steal!

i\'ve seen a couple situations on the news lately where there have been identity theft scares because there was all this important personal data stored on someone\'s laptop, and the laptop was lost or stolen...
WHY THE **** IS THIS **** BEING STORED ON A LAPTOP?!?
sensitive data - ****, not even sensitive - IMPORTANT data like this should NOT be stored on someone\'s laptop. it should be locked up on a box in a data center somewhere and you should have to login with credentials to access it. this seems like the most simplistic **** idea in the world, but no one seems to get it.. :sigh:
/rant.
In my case, the laptop is not the ONLY place that the data exists, but it is the only place that it exists without at least twenty or so hours of work involved. I can\'t really explain it if you don\'t know the software, but trust me it would definitely be enough to get my part-time, $20 an hour ass fired.
Though I definitely agree with you on the general point of your rant.

1. my dog
2. breakfast video archive (300 minidv tapes or so)/harddrives
3. fire box of essential paperwork (they are only guaranteed to a certain temperature for a certain amount of time)
Sadly, I would hate to loose my antiques but they are too large - the organ, the edison record player and the am radio from the 20\'s would all be really painful to loose.
Actually if there was anything big that I couldn\'t take I would probably put it inside the wood burning stove and hope for the best. If that thing can hold in a fire to temperatures like it does, I\'m sure it can hold out one also. Plus it\'s strong as hell so even if the house caved in it should survive, and the fire would have to really hot to melt it. So hot that it\'s virtually impossible; the house itself does not consist of enough material to fuel the temperature high enough before the entire structure would incinerate.
Think inside the box. ;)

... not including my purse, which holds my everything important (medical & personal) and the cats:
1. my laptop
2. my iPod
3. my kegerator (it\'s on wheels)
4. my wine cabinet (with wine)
5. Todd\'s dartboard (with darts)
... yeah, I think I\'d be happy with these 5 things, no matter where I ended up living.
you will be dead, burnt alive by the time you get the Kegerator and wine cabinet out of the house.
:that:
And...you were limited to three things. Also, they must fit in your vehicle.

If we assume the wallet, cell phone and car keys (because that\'s three right there) are already on my person, and all of family members would be able to get themselves out, there\'s nothing that I would definitely save. But if I saw them on my way running out the door, I would grab:
iPod
State Issued Laptop (it has about twelve years worth of SCSU soccer data on it, even in this situation I would probably get fired for losing it)
Electric Mayhem (the Muppets, not the guys that used to play Toad\'s a lot) t-shirt... were I already wearing it by coincidence, I would grab my external hard drive (no time to save the whole computer, after all)
Wow, I don\'t really own anything. Thanks for making me realize that, guys.
ok, i\'m sorry but i have got to say something here..

haha, you\'re nuts. where are you going to stash it when the coppers and firemen show up?
Why would they specifically be showing up at my place ? You know something I don\'t ? And even if they did show up in the middle of an evacuation you really think they are going to do a random Terry frisk ? They don\'t have time for that stuff. It isn\'t like they stay at your place why you pack up, they tell you you have to get out and move on to the next house. They don\'t remove you on the spot.
And I assumed cell phone wallet and things that can be put in a pocket was a given.
I figured the question was about the stuff you would have to actually make an effort to get in your car to evacuate.
-
nothing. I have nothing that I would need if my house was on fire.
-
see i would hope my two dogs would be smart enough to get out. i guess i wouldn\'t want them roaming around not being leashed tho
-
1. pets
2. data
3. pexbox
wallet and car keys, to me at least, are as assumed as clothes on my back. cats and dog definitely wouldn\'t be able to get out by themselves, so, they\'re on the list.

green stuff
haha, you\'re nuts. where are you going to stash it when the coppers and firemen show up?
car keys so i can move it away from the house
wallet so i can have access to money for a hotel room
cell phone so i inform my parents and insurance company of the fire
everything else is covered by insurance and can be replaced.
girlfriend and dog aren\'t really possessions, right?
nah, i would assume if they can get out by themselves they don\'t count. car keys would have been good, but i\'d rather see my car burn and not get insurance for it than to deal with it anymore.
wallet would have been good to.
actually now that i think of it i would have to grab my photography collection (every picture i have pretty much ever taken) i\'d be really pissed if i lots all of those!

if your house was threatened to burn down, what are the 3 things (possessions) you would take with you that would fit in the car.

i have a Dead silk screen i couldn\'t part with
