Oh, no worries man... E-bickering is no longer in my vocab. Glad you enjoyed the show, it was one of their best!  Good luck to you and Jill!!!

i was looking for you on saturday, joe. wanted to give ya some love after clashing with you over the whole \'the band should go prog\' thing. (and whatever else i clashed with you about throughout the year.) unfortunately we had to leave a bit early and walked in right as they started, so i missed out. either way, have a great new year! who knows what e-bickering this year wil provide!

So tonight we can expect: Rufus, TGSOT, Overexposure, Honeybutter, Good Things, Tunage, and a Dimension 5 for sure.... not bad, not bad at all.

I agree the lack of CT area bfam turnout is disturbing to me

Not only is the rollcall looking sparse for NYE and Ron\'s last show, but there is also no NYE premium on the price of admission.  All over town, bands tonight are playing for $50 when they would normally be $12.

I think a lot of people made the Toad\'s show their NYE being the hometown show and all.

Our work schedule dictated as much.

I didn\'t think I was gonna be emotional, but Fresh Cut just came on the old stereo and i got really choked up.

Hope everyone has a great time tonight.

Now I am all sorts of bummed

She will probably sleep half on top of you though. She thinks laps are pillows, and she has a lot of white fur that doesn\'t like to stay attached to her body.

We got 5-6" here last night.

For those of you coming from the East, there is another small storm in northern NY heading down for the Thruway. It looks like it will be in Utica in a couple hours or so then continue to move down the Thruway. It doesn\'t appear to be anything bad, just a little bit of snow. Safe travels, Cya at the hotel!

I CALL DIBS ON ONE OF THOSE POSTERS!!!!

I\'d like to grab it preshow at the hotey if at all possible. I\'ll prolly be there by 5

No problem - I\'ll try to get it to you early, though I don\'t know when merch will make its way outta the van...

Quote from: jocelyn;174931
Hey Robyn, any chance I could claim the S shirt and a poster? I am definitely on board for this show after missing Toad\'s.

No problem - Small is yours

& don\'t forget to bring a Sharpie for the band to sign it with... unless this is your first rodeo :awwyeah:

Quote from: Rujah;174928
what do those NYE shirts look like?

i could probably fit into a small, probably even the medium. Any chance I  can get one reserved for me? Probably arrive sometime between 6-7

They\'re really cute - I wish I had a picture of one... think: Carla (moebass) holding a glass of champagne wearing a party hat that reads "The Save"
I\'ll definitely try to hold the M for you - just see me early :)

I like your list son. I\'ll go ahead and add some:

I bet they\'ll play: Honey Butter, What the Funk, Gladys, Coma, Food for Thought, Chase, Psygn, Inner Glimpse

Maybe they\'ll play: Peaches, Lit, Superfly Phaddy Fat, Rust, Fresh Cut, Merge, Tribal, Score

Doubt it but I\'d freak out if they did: Little Wing, Good to Your Earhole, One Big Mob, Welcome to This World (I like their cover choices.)

On that note, **** it, play Karn Evil 9 again! That was out of control. I hadn\'t heard them play that since 05. Didn\'t think I would hear them play it again. "SEE THE SHOW!!!!!!!" Great ending!

This is gonna be insane. Ron Spears you are the man, we will rock out hard for you in Uti-****-a (As good4garry would put it, sick **** that he is :)

See you all soon. Tomorrow is #50 for me, but it ain\'t about me tomorrow night! Thanks to Ron and The Breakfast for EVERYTHING! You guys are the best.

I feel that the Toad\'s show is really the last Ron show. It\'s his hometown send off and I\'m sure he will be picked on accordingly. I\'m guessing all the emotions will come out there. The Electric Company show is more of a celebration. I\'m sure it will be filled with top level playing as well as many shenanigans. With that being said, anything more than 1 full set of the wheel (assuming it\'s a 3 set show) would be annoying. If it\'s filled with solos and cover songs, I can\'t see it being that amazing musically...unless one of the wedges has Rainbow singing a cover song.

if there are 3 sets i wouldnt mind having the wheel up for second set and then have the band finish that set with a song or 2 of their own choice. the wheel all night would be to much.

Our lovely assistant Sarah will be spinning the wheel of tunes that are placed on the wheel- there\'s a bunch of stuff on this wheel such as instrument solos, cover tunes, breakfast tunes, chicken dance and much more.  Lots of other fun stuff going on this evening.  Come dress as freaky/funky as you can, balloon drop, party favors, champagne, giveaways, munchies, oh yeah did I mention the BREAKFAST!! We are really psyched to have our boys from New Haven come in and rock us into 2008!  Tickets are $12 @ the door.  Doors open at 8.  Show time 10pm

Out of towners coming to the U for NYE here\'s the scoop on hotels.  Call the Red Roof Inn 315 724-7131.  Let the front desk clerk know that you are apart of the Electric Company party and you\'ll get a rate of $53/room.  Hurry rooms are filling up fast.

Thanks for all the love in support! Happy Holidays!

I have to say I am 100% not down with the wheel anymore.

Am I going to have to sabotage the wheel before the show to prevent this from happening or are the guys going to talk some sense into Zee?

I realize it\'s Zee\'s party and he wants to make it fun but risking a shitty song selection or **** up the flow of a set or any of the general awkwardness of the wheel or any of the other possible ways it could go wrong is just not a good idea!!!! In fact it;s a really bad idea.

Derick- Just looked it up. Looks like pets are allowed.

Provided this is the correct hotel of course.

Well, seeing as pets are allowed, this may swing the decision for me... Wooooooo

how do you get tickets for this show?  do you have to call the venue and reserve them?  also, whats the deal with hotel rates?  do they have rooms blocked out at a certain hotel?  the rates arent horrible anyways... at least compared to what I paid in AC last year for Trey!

F the wheel

Title: Electric Company; Utica, NY
Post by: Klout on December 01, 2007, 02:11:44 pm
I\'d like to see them spin it while they are playing.

It\'s honestly a little lame watching them spin and decide the whole setlist before the set starts because you know what they are gonna play.

It would be a lot more spontaneous and true to the nature of wheel if they didn\'t know what was coming next and neither did the fans. But you would have to set up a controlled way of spinning it and communicating the next song to all the band members.

Although the actual process of spinning the wheel and trying to get a good song and watching your friends spin is pretty hilarious and awesome.....but it doesn\'t always work out that great.

I also think they should just leave the wheel alone for the after midnight set and just pick some sick tunes and rage them out.

So it should go like this...

First Set: Warm up set

Set Two: Crazy Spontaneous (mid song) wheel set

Set Three: Make the nastiest set list possible from whats left and rip it.

wheel to decide the whole show?

honestly, i hope not. if they play 3 sets, maybe do the wheel for one of them, but this is a show where i think the band definitely NEEDS to construct their own setlist.

As revealed during the radio interview a couple days ago, they\'re going to bring back the \'wheel of tunes\' for this show. Someone please put Episode 3 (Awakening) on there. Even if it\'s pie slice is only an 1" wide the powers of Broseph will make it happen.

Yeah, what are the laws in upstate? Is it pretty much based on the bartenders not wanting to work anymore/ not a lot of people spending money? I know it used to be like this in the city, but what about upstate?

I don\'t know about U-town but in Oneonta they were open till 6 am so anything  is possible. It\'s just a bar not a music venue so restrictions are probably pretty relaxed and up to Zee.

Set One 11:30-1 am

With new years eve on a Monday they could really put together a solid 4 night run to close out the year. This will be my first experience with the Hotel Utica everyone\'s always talking about since I usually drive home after Utica shows.

Bummer for you man but thanx to your post you just reminded me I hate the east coast in the Winter.

Pack up your bag of flannels, take your zinc and vitamin c and stop wearing panties!!

Oh...and bake some treats!! ;)

not cool with this (I gotta work and will never make it there in time)

hopefully they get a good draw there that night and the weather actually allows people to drive to get there.

Now that The Breakfast make me giddy again I just automatically want to hit any shows. I really have to think abt this now.

Saw that Zee has posted on the moe.PT board this is confirmed.

Well seems another trip to Utica is in order for this year. Glad the flights are cheap.
