I also think that people suggest zappa because they know that the band can pull it off.  I personally think a Zappa album would be good to cover because strong vocals are not necessary to pull off a strong performance.

good point^

I think people suggest floyd because they are fans of the music.  U-Melt covered WYWH and it was okay, but I wasn\'t amazed.

i think that too many people suggest pink floyd albums to cover simply because pink floyd\'s albums come off as good ones to cover because of their tying songs together.  also, too many bands cover beatles albums, and zappa albums are suggested way too much also.  there are plenty of good albums that would be a treat to hear live, but also would be unexpected and different (not something youd expect a "jam" band to cover)

i tihnk a david bowie, or REM album would be cool

Even though it wouldn\'t be my choice for the album to cover.  I think that the band pretty much has to play Lawn Boy at this point after all the promotion has pointed that way.  It started as speculation, but it\'s gone way beyond that point now.  I think that you\'re going to get two types of people, the PB fans and phish fans that want to hear Lawn Boy.  If the band doesn\'t play it, then they potentially lose the phish fans.

On another note, I think that The Wall would not be the best floyd album to cover; it\'s too heavy on vocals for them to pull off.  If they were going to do floyd, I\'d suggest a more instrumental album like Atom Heart Mother or Meddle.

I think that they should cancel the opening act and play a cover album under a different name, that way they would have the time for two sets of original music.

This doesn\'t seem like much of a stretch to me ...

When I saw the Breakfast (granted it was a few years ago), they were so obviously trying to sound JUST like Phish - right down to the guitar players tone, and Trey faces.

This has been a knock on the band for a long time so I am kind of surprised they would do a Phish album. It is adding fuel to the fire. And with this rumor being spread I just hope the band pulls it off because if a lot of people show to hear the album and they dont do it then I would imagine a few pissed off people.

This is exactly why I bought a plane ticket when it was announced they would be in VT for the FF. I felt the band was ready to make a major statement with the addition of Matt.

With the announcement of an album being covered I immediately thought of a Phish album(Junta) and the statement the band was ready to make.
My feeling is that the Phish album will be played phenomenally but the set/s of Breakfast music are going to be the statement.
I just have a feeling they are going to showcase some of the most stellar playing we have heard from them and put all comparisons to Phish to rest for good(well there will always be **** but you get what I\'m saying yeah?)

I dont think the breakfast sounds anything like phish.  I cannot beleive people say this.  The people who make these assumptions clearly know nothing about the TB, and they probably dont know much about phish either.  simply posers trying to sound like they are more educated than they actually are about the music scene.  i wouldnt let it get under anyone\'s skin.  They are going to tear up lawn boy, and we will all be there to wittness it.

I\'ve been trying to get through with Mike Gordon\'s hotline to give him the heads up. I know he\'s been to one or two recent Breakfast shows in Burlington so maybe he would appreciate to see something like this. Any thoughts on this idea? Would the band feel intimidated or honored to see him in the audience? Think he could be talked into bringing his bass? Let me know what you think.

Besides this, I have kept a thread on the Oh Kee Pa (Phish board) for most of this year. I update it when shows are announced and try to get LMA links in there often. It has gotten some people out to shows. I didn\'t say which album they would be playing in Burlington but I hinted at the fact that it would be a Phish album. I\'ll prob spell it out next week or so.

of a Phish album being covered? I know it\'s not "official" but figure why not get some interest drummed up.
I started 2 PT threads one on PTmoe. which went alright and on PTPhish which went as expected but did garner some interest.
The best responses I have gotten are on the TLG board and I think I am going to start one on the SCC and RAQ boards also.
