let\'s try this again...

if anyone can post live setlist updates to .info tonight, send an instant message to breakfastsetlist on AIM.

please note that apparently my outgoing texts weren\'t working last night, so if you don\'t hear back from me, don\'t take it personally. this service is still in beta. ;)

strangest thing I ever saw was a guy passed out behind the wheel as we were getting on the gw or some such bridge. I don\'t remember if we were in jersey or the city, whatever. We\'re slowly creeping up on the tolls before the bridge, it\'s been a small parkinglot for a few minutes but now we\'re moving and up ahead everyone is moving out of the lane next to our right. We get up right next to the guy, car in park, seat back, out cold.  Wish i had a phone with a camera but it was only like 00/01. I forget who was in the car with me. Deblock maybe?

Anyone else remember the time that freddie and kroop got mixed up heading to nyc, crossed the gw, ended up in jersey and missed the show?

It could have been.  I only remember going to two shows at the Lions Den.

After a Lions Den show, Gavin and I ran into some shitty traffic jam at like 3/4:00 in the am. This drunk **** got outta her car and climbed over this railing onto a median of sorts and, in front of hundreds of cars, dropped her pants and took a ****. Gavin and I were cracking up, but the best was when she went to climb back over the railing and fell flat on her face. Cars all around us started honking at her, goodtimes.

this was probably the same night because I remember spotting you guys at a toll booth on the way home.

I got lost once because I was hammered and was near Broadway. Eventually figured it out, got stuck in a traffic-jam, began sipping on a beer and passed out, woke up to see the jam just started moving and then was drunkenly on my way back to CT and made it home around 6:30 or so.

The band is tight and playing really well.

I went to the archive to listen to a Breakfast show this afternoon.  I was overwhelmed by the number of good recordings to choose from since the advent of Matt just 3 months ago.

FWIW, I recommend getting to every Breakfast that you can that doesn\'t interfere with work or your family life. The band is tight and playing really well. They can use all of our support at every show to finish 2007 on a high note. Don\'t forget to eat your Breakfast before it gets cold.

On a personal side note, if I decide to hit up Wheel House Tavern and Lion\'s Den this week, it will make 100 shows since 3/4/2005. The night I decided to devote my time to this band. There were some shows before that time that I saw but nothing like I do these days, so I don\'t really count them or have the ability to count them.

Let us just have fun.

So this is looking like it may actually happen. That would be cool; I haven\'t been to NYC fofr a show forever. Wonder if I can find a decent jazz show earlier in the night somewhere else in the city. The Breakfast don\'t go on until late, correct?

sweeeet. yeah, breakfast doesn\'t go on until 12.

i just looked at the blue note for some jazz since it\'s right around the corner from lion\'s den, and the Grady Tate Quintet (http://www.bluenote.net/newyork/schedule/moreinfo.cgi?id=5556) is playing. doesn\'t look too hoppin\' if you ask me...

Smalls (http://smallsjazzclub.com/) is usually the joint to check out for jazz. if you haven\'t been, i suggest you try it out. pretty classic spot. not sure what\'s going on that night, but just check the link.

whatever you decide to do, i hope i actually see you this time!! i should be more subdued than i was at sully\'s (although i hope not!). lol.

Yeah I checked most of the major spots, Blue Note included, and didn\'t find much that appealing. Smalls\' website wasn\'t very helpful; I\'m not sure who they have playing that night. I\'ll figure something out. If I don\'t find anything, I will probably go to Zinc to check out their African music night.

Hope to see you too, and I hope you aren\'t TOO subdued!

Jus- I looked around and there doesn\'t seem to be much in the city that night along the lines of jazz, except for one show which is out of my price range ($30.) The African music night at Zinc might be interesting though.

"SOURCE WITH ABDOULAYE DIABATE
FOUNDED FOUR YEARS AGO BY SYLVAIN LEROUX THIS BAND HAS GROWN TO INCLUDE SOME OF THE BEST MUSICIANS ON THE AFRICAN SCENE IN NEW YORK CITY
Abdoulaye Diabate—vocals
Sylvain Leroux—flute, tambin, alto sax
Bailo Bah—tambin (Fula flute)
Shai Bachar—keyboards
Mamadou Ba—bass
Robert Bonhomme—drums
Daniel "Lezardo" Villeneuve—congas"

I think the cover there is usually cheap.

http://www.zincbar.com

Edit: Looks like music doesn\'t start there until 10 on weekends. If you decide to go, let me know if you come up with anything.

That would be a definite a possibility. It also occured to me the other day that I could stay at my brother\'s apt. in NY since he isn\'t there and he hasn\'t sublet it (that sounds awkward) out yet.

They\'re playing the Bull and Bear pub in Syracuse. They played there last spring then the following night in Albany. I believe those two are the only shows they\'ve played in 2007. I bought them a bunch of shots/drinks during the course of the night so I guess they had a good enough time to come back to Cuse. Let me know if you\'re coming out for it.

i very well may be, cause i was going to visit my broher is oswego at some point in the next month, so ill probably kill 2 birds with one stone.

yeah i was in buffalo for those 2 shows, which i found out about the day of the albany show, but i didnt want to make the 4 hour trip.

Johhny Walker Blue King George V?

Haha. I guess it\'s about that time in the year to start drinking scotch to keep warm. I\'m a man of the people so I go with the $34 handles (1.5L) of Johnny Walker Red Label.

That was a fun show... the ride home on the other hand... facing 4 lanes of taxis head on going the wrong way in the hour+ it took to find our way off the island  but we made it

that sounds like a fun ride home! one time after a knit show we got lost in the bronx till the sun came up.

as for ween if it\'s earlier the same night... should set up major promo around that show. i.e. posters all over the place and a few people handing out leaflets before and after the show. bfast start time says midnight on myspace page.

also grace potter is playing in the city that night too. so that is another chance for promo and I\'d also love to get gracie to a bfast show and rock out with her.

ALSO the night before in NYC is a pretty good hip hop show featuring....

Talib Kweli
De La Soul
Snoop Dogg
Raekwon
Q-Tip
Mobb Deep

snoop dogg played at univeristy at buffalo when i was a student there about 3 years ago, and it was the loudest concert ive ever been to by far...it was so loud that i had no idea what songs he was playing since it was beyond the pain threshold for decibel level.  it just sounded like a rocket ship waws taking off about 20 yards from me.  it was a free show, so about 8 thousand people were there when it started...i left after about 40 minutes and there were no more than 3 thousand when i was walking out, and i heard form those that stayed that the crowd at the end of the show was under 1000.  the best part was he blew one of the cones in a speaker since the volume was so high, so in addition to the horrendously loud concert, there was this terrible cracking/buzzing coming from the left side of the stage.

possibly the best ever Phaddy (bold statement, check it out)

yeah, that was a great, great night. partied hard for sure. but then the next den show really was the pits, so i\'m sour on the joint. hopefully the upcoming show will turn things around. i\'m sure it will. but only if a fair amount of heads show up. nothing\'s more depressing than an empty den show.

yup I just remember there being such a charge in the air as they were frantically setting up. Everyone seemed to know it was gonna be the fire. crosstown traffic and area code 212 "It\'s good to be back in the CITY!" -Jordan killer night. the energy just seems subdued at the knit. the section of town in its is bunk. doesnt even feel like nyc. much rather rage the village where there is life.

thats the one I was talking about G.

I don\'t see how anyone was there that night wouldn\'t want to go back to the den.

It was only one set though not two!

The jam between merge and phaddy is one of the best and most tastefull I have ever heard them play.

"Rage->Reggae (dub)Breakdown" is one of the best jamming formulas for this band.

I wish they would do it more and they have since striker which rules.

Woops! thats a pretty monstrous one set. They started mad late, so that\'s probably why they decided to play one set. I agree with the rage>reaggae statement. just look at Overexposure.
