I am just breaking balls. I know no one cares what someone else is listening to.
I have no problem pushing people in the right direction.

I have mp3s as well. Most of them are fluff tunes that I like to hear every once in a while. I think they are good for auditing stuff and if it sounds good in mp3 it should sound even better on CD, DAT etc.

I looked up these "mono block tube amps" and didn\'t see one for less then $2K.
it really depends on what company and new v. used.
If you are ever in the market for great used gear http://www.audiogon.com is the "ebay" for really high end audio EQ.
You can do searches by zip code which is nice since a lot of the stuff is extremely heavy and a lot are for local pick up do to shipping fees etc.
But you can get killer huge sound for not that much. You just have to do your homework and be patient (says the guy who is the biggest impulse buyer). And mono block tubes are sweet but there are tons of other solutions. Soild state is nice and most folks like a blend of solid state and tubes. But as with everything it is all very subjective
If you have a good credit card it is very easy to "audition" these types of things and if you don\'t like the sound etc simply sell them. Really quality audio EQ tends to keep its value very well, some even increase in price. So buying and reselling is pretty common. Also high end audio outlets will usually allow you to bring in your own music to test EQ and some will allow you to bring it home and test drive it for a while. They cannot really ask you to plunk down mad loot and not know what your getting

depends really. I don\'t have that kind of a setup yet either.
Spacey - I really don\'t care what folks listen to and Walsh was kidding about the trading pool etc. It is just that I feel obligated to inform folks who might not be informed. I know Walsh is not 1 of those people but why not seek out the best ? Is there anything wrong with pointing folks in the direction of the really good stuff ?
I taped a Led Zeppelin 1973 Southhampton University off the radio the other night. The quality of the broadcast was killer, however knowing what I know about that stuff I went on a different message board asked if anyone had the lossless and bam they do. So ya I have a listenable show but I want the best I can get my hands on.
It is like Cuervo v. patron both are tequilla but 1 is superior. Do they both get you drunk, Yes

Personally, if it sounds good to me, I am going to listen to it, if it doesn\'t I won\'t.

Not sure when this was updated last but I\'m guessing this list is only missing 40-60 shows I have yet to convert. They are probably from the 80\'s, \'93 and \'97 as I remember trying to fill in the gaps. The whole Giant Country Horns tour is pretty sweet!

PFFFFTTTT, lossless is for those stuck in the past...IPOD jamming mp3\'s with great speakers are just as good. I think i am slowly going deaf anyway so I don\'t hear any problems with \'em...it is a blessing and a curse.;)
And this is why there hasn\'t been a good album made in a LOOOOONG time. The loudness wars have won. big butter sticks of compression and sadness. people listening to crappy MP3\'s on ear buds and exclaiming the AWESOMENESS.
Go get yourself some full range speakers, 2 mono block tube amps, a nice pre and then come back and say that.
And lossless is where it is at. You can always make mp3\'s or whatever you want but you can\'t go the other way.
I am currently in the process of encoding my entire CD (silverback) collection to FLAC. I have well over 400 CDs and they will all fit on a single 500GB HDD. FLAC > Foobar > Stereo. I get all the convenience of an ipood but with all the fidelity and dynamic range that I was supposed to hear.

That might take a while. Just quickly looking it over he only has 10 shows from the 80\'s. Last time I checked I had 98-100% of all shows that circulate from the 80\'s. I may as well do the site myself if I\'m going to upload a couple hundred shows. I\'ll try to get some top notch shows up there though. Any requests?

I thought about doing something like this before but I have no website skills. I have roughly 650-700 phish shows on my computer. However, I can\'t remember the last time I listened to one of them.

For what I want yes...of course there is a difference but not enough for me to go back to annoying cd\'s, I want to trade them too so i dirty the pool of live recordings forever!!!;)

Sorry if this is old news but this kid has an amazing site going with perfectly legal recordings of Phish shows on his server...he is trying to get ALL shows on there with only the best sources most commonly agreed upon...check out the 6.11.94 show first to get a glimpse of the quality it is FANTASTIC...I think you can stream also if u want. This site could be a godsend in the age of mp3 downloads(wait isn\'t that in the past;)) ENJOY!
