maybe make up a charity in Honor of Giavanna that will go to a student at a music school?
Great idea. The money can go to a new scholarship or to this one already established in her Honor:
Giavanna Kersulis Scholarship in Voice at San Diego State University,
For those wishing to donate to the scholarship fund, checks may be made payable to The Campanile Foundation and sent to Marian Liebowitz, chair of the scholarship committee, School of Music and Dance, San Diego State University, 5500 Campanile Drive, San Diego, CA 92182-7902.
Perhaps a ride board ? like a sub section of the forum where people can ask for and offer rides to shows ?
Not sure how active it would be now but might be a good idea for the future.
I this this is an awesome idea for this site. Many times I decide not to go to shows simply because the round-trip gas total can be over 50 dollars. Having just ONE other person in a car with you cuts the gas cost in HALF....this is huge...please, please, lets start trying to do more with carpooling. I think having a carpool forum is a necessity.
I dont know how I feel about phish reuniting...i can see it now...itll be thousands and thousands of highschoolers yelling and screaming when they play seven below and pebbles n\' marbles, while the rest of us wonder why we paid 50 dollars to see the band at 10% of what they used to be.
A separate carpool/caravan forum section is a great idea. Start a thread in the Feedback Monster so Dave sees it.
As for Phish and the thousands of highschoolers...... didn\'t this already happen w/ the post hiatus fiasco they called shows?

I would have to have to sort of assurance that they re-learned their own songs before shelling out the money - we don\'t need another flub of YEM like 1/3/03.
one quote sticks out in my mind from bittersweet motel [the movie] where they asked trey how rich they were and he answered, "rich enough so that we don\'t have to practice anymore," or some verbal ejaculation like that.
pretty safe to say, you\'ll get no such assurance. they don\'t have to care either, there\'s still an ass for every seat.

I would love to go to a Phish show. Guess I won\'t see you guys there, oh well.
Have fun with that.

please, let it go already.
i love mockingbird an\' all, but this sleeping dog should be left to lie. does anyone feel like seeing tickets on ebay go for 900millionbagillion dollars if they ever do reunite? i really felt that was the complete souring of the whole experience when i debated selling my ticket to pay a couple months rent. music should never be such an elite privilege. it\'s ironic that they have to encourage this to try to make "even a buck or two".
btw, i\'m all for promoting tb (even though i\'m out in the stix, i\'ve been spreading the word), and i\'ll help out any way i can, seriously (just let me know), but [like tyzack said] what\'s the haps with a charity can at every show? i\'ve said before i got 5 every time i see it.

If you want a charity for the breafast, give to the breakfast. Help do some promo, hang posters, get some radio play on college campuses, try to get them into a bigger venue, actually give some money to the band, hit that one other show, every ticket helps after all, buy something off the merch table, give it away to a newbie and then go back and buy yourself a copy at the next show, bring a friend, offer a place to stay on tour so they don\'t need to hotel it, etc. They need this kind of help at this point more than anything else.

I was about to post this in here if no one else did.
First of all, the Mockingbird foundation is a great cause and should get a couple bucks tossed to it after tossing to this site.
Speaking of foundations, is The Breakfast big enough to have an "offical" overall blanket charity? If so, what? If not, do y\'all think that would be popular?
I know they (used to/still do) stuff (food drivers) with Strangers Helping Strangers, but do they do anything else?

We heard a lot of chatter over the Summer about Phish possibly getting back
together again next year for some shows. Although we don\'t know when (or
whether) Phish will ever perform again, The Mockingbird Foundation has decided
to create a PHISH REUNION FUND to help raise additional support for music education
through a collective expression of anticipation and hope. We hope you will donate
-- in ANY amount -- to get the Fund going!
The Phish Reunion Fund will be maintained in an interest-bearing account,
separate from other Foundation assets, and will be distributed for the
benefit of music education for children programs (in accordance with the
Foundation\'s guidelines and mission) after whichever of the following events
occurs first: (1) it is announced that PHISH will perform a one or more
complete public shows as an entire band; (2) the Foundation announces, for
whatever reason, that it is dissolving; or (3) [heavens forbid!] a band
member dies, in which case the reunion fund will become a Memorial Fund in
honor of the life of the deceased.
In an effort to help get the PHISH REUNION FUND started, Foundation Board
member Charlie Dirksen will once again be marathoning for Mockingbird. He
will run the Lake Tahoe half-marathon (13.1 miles) on Saturday, September
29, and he will match up to the first $500 (!) in donations to the Phish
Reunion Fund. If you decide to donate, please include your "snail" mail
(postal) address and note that you are donating to the Fund.
We want to emphasize that ANY AMOUNT will help, even a buck or two. Small
donations add up and make a very real difference. As you probably know,
unfortunately, music education programs are getting cut by schools nationwide.
Such programs increasingly depend on grants from 501(c)(3) non-profit
organizations like the Foundation in order to operate at all.
Your support has made a difference in the past and will make a difference in
the future. Please help the Foundation create a PHISH REUNION FUND that
will help inspire the band to get back together and tour!
If you wish to donate, your donation will be fully tax-deductible. You may
donate by mail or online, including by credit card, through our webpage. We
appreciate your support, and hope that someday perhaps we\'ll see you at a show!
Sincerely,
THE MOCKINGBIRD FOUNDATION

not to be sassy, but is there anyway i can donate money so they *don\'t* reunite?
