i agree!
-
when people start to **** because the band just **** on a great show with an idiotic cover song of an encore all the fans say "thats what THEY felt like playing, take it or leave it"
which makes this whole thing completely ironic imo
-
I believe someone on the crew might of had an influence.
gellis conned them into covering a dave matthews band album?
fixed
-
"covering an album" shoulf appear on the promo shiz. that could be a huge deciding factor for lots of peeps, speciallly noobs
-
I believe someone on the crew might of had an influence.
chadwick conned them into covering a george micheal album?
I told you that under secrecy.
-
There should be a poll for which album they should play, and the fans should decide what they play. Thats what Phish always did.
[calls shenanigans]
-

I agree that fans should have had a say but there is no time for them to learn the album of our choice and learn it well. It was just decided, I guess. I believe someone on the crew might of had an influence.

Personally, the white tape should be covered. phish\'s first recording, would be **** up. and also a song with seth yacovone. he rips with them.
they should cover the entire colorado \'88 when they come out to CO.
-
Burlington will be the only show with an album cover. I will not repeat what album cover it will be.
how about a meters album........
Nectar would be my first choice but i don\'t care either way. but if this is truly going to happen maybe a little promo with that in there somewhere, maybe just a song line to let people know what craziness they don\'t want to miss will be going down
Already have promo for this run in action.
WE NEED PEOPLE IN CT TO HELP PROMO TOADS AND ALL CT SHOWS. CT is weak in terms of street team.
I can promote all the shows in south eastern mass / pvd if given a link to materials...
sounds good. email us at mooboosvoodoo@gmail.com for the time being. Once shows get booked in that area we can contact you.
thanks for the help.

The Halloween run will feature a cover of an album every night. Finishing with Phish\'s Lawn Boy at the Higher Ground. Mike Gordon will be sitting in for a tune.
some of that is a rumor but some of it has been confirmed.

Yeah anytime I meet someone from CT. I ask them if they know of The Breakfast.

how can you have weak street team in your home state..... town even.....
Simple. Mark Peters is the only one who responds to the promo email sent out. Its not bad as RI where there are no working emails addresses.
We need more proactive members in CT.

I for one like Bouncing Around the Room.... :bounce2:
On the other hand, if they ever played "Back on the Train"....then I would be out of there :)
....just my opinion :D

I thought the rumor mill already confirmed the albums getting covered?

That\'s all I have to say about that.
-
they should cover phish covering an album!
-
Everyone is free to express themselves, as long as their opinions do not differ from mine. In which case, they should get their head out of their ass. Let\'s not pretend here that the internet is different then any other place in this world where I\'m right and everyone else is wrong.
-
I\'m sure that we will all be pleased, but do you actually think that people won\'t express their opinions on the topic. I mean isn\'t that what a forum is all about? I won\'t be making the treck up to VT, my days of driving 8+ hours through 4 states to go to a concert are over, but I\'m sure that I\'ll be downloading it as soon as it\'s up. But again, I say, it\'s a forum a place where people are free to share their opinion - please differ, I\'d like to hear your opinion.
-
just stay home. none of you will be pleased.
-
Coil, Reba, Melt Gin and Antelope...that is going to be EPIC...to bad I won\'t be there. Maybe they\'ll do that at Toad\'s?
-
what kind of time constraints are we talking bout here?
-
how much are they really going to be able to jam it out with time constraints tho???
-
The reason I suggested gamehenge is because, to me, studio albums don\'t do it for me with regards to jambands.
You say this like you think they\'re going to come out and play these songs exactly as they\'re heard on the studio album. They\'re covering Phish.... in Vermont, I think they might stretch things out a bit.
-
my only problem with lawn boy is finishing the set with lawn boy / bouncin\'. ZZZZZZzzzzzz.
:D
Its funny you should say that, because I was going to say the same thing (weak finish)..i didnt want to **** off any die-hard bouncing \'round the room folks (if there are any haha)
-
the breakfast doing tweezer, llama, glide!!! **** poor heart!!! ding!ding!ding! we have a winner!
Honestly I could give 2 **** about a "story" album.
I want to hear face melting rock and sick jams.
Nectar would be great for this, Lawn boy, almost as good.
-
I kind of agree dave. Lawnboy is a great tune but it is more of a mid set take it down a notch song. BUT lawnboy>bouncin > RAGING extended encore would be aite :)
-
my only problem with lawn boy is finishing the set with lawn boy / bouncin\'. ZZZZZZzzzzzz.
they should play the album in reverse order and close with a 20-minute matt outro to The Squirming Coil, and encore with YEM.
:D
-
how Rift hasn\'t been mentioned by anyone yet as their favorite phish album is beyond me.
By far my fav, followed by Pic of Nektar
-
antelope will be madness!!!
-
For the answer see the Rumors thread. That is all.
-
how can you hate squirming coil? You\'re crazy Jen!!! Seeing Adrian belt out poor heart would be priceless though. rotfl
I just hate it...practically everytime I saw Phish they played it and I got SO tired of it! But I suppose if they Breakfast were going to play Lawn Boy, I\'d deal somehow! :Drotfl

2 questions: 1. do members of the band ever look/participate in these forums?
all too much.
2. has there ever been any mention by the band of covering ANY album at all for halloween, or has anyone mentioned to the band that it would be a cool idea?
yes.

im still sticking with rift...in my opinion it has a more halloween feel to it, it is a very mysterious album with very spooky tracks. Plus there are more songs on it, and (besides reba) better overall writing in composed parts of the songs than on lawn boy. Hearing the breakfast play maze would be insane...it would be a great way to showcase matt\'s talents on organ, and tim would rip on the solo. It\'s Ice is one of my top 3 favorite phish songs, and it would be incredible to hear them play it...although parts of it are very tricky to play (im sure they would have no problem with some practice. Not to mention Rift, MOUND, the wedge!, finishing with the horse>SITM, it would be the most complete, best overall album to cover, EVERY song on there is quality (haha lenthwise would be halarious).
The song I would most want to hear on Lawnboy would be SOAM, no question. Actually now that I look at lawnboy, the songs on there allow for more jamming than the songs on rift. Yeah I guess either one would be sweet.
-
"the moist green organic... that my feet tread upon"
now your catchin my drift leith ;)
its perfect if you think about.....if you know who that song IS....and that is the title track and think about what just happened to the bfast...it makes PERFECT sense
-
they should cover phish covering remain in light. the great curve was the best phish ever played.
-
if ron dresses up like mike, and then mike sits in, it would be priceless.
announce it soon to get the hype built up!!!!!
-

The reason I suggested gamehenge is because, to me, studio albums don\'t do it for me with regards to jambands. That\'s just me. Maybe they should cover Thriller! :duck: All of us could be barking up the wrong tree with the band covering phish for the FF - they could cover a multitude of bands.
-
Gamehendge is the coolest idea I\'ve ever heard.
Eh...I think Gamehendge would be a bad idea.
Rift is my favorite Phish album ever, so I would love to see them do that, but...I might want to see Lawn Boy a little more, just to see them do Reba and Antelope.... They can skip Squirming Coil though, I hate that song!
-
Besides this is the only band I can think of that would have the balls and talent (well Ron may not have the balls) to cover a Phish album in Phish\'s homestate.
pwned.
i think they should cover YCDTOSA #2 disc 1
"Tush Tush Tush (A Token of My Extreme)"
"Stinkfoot"
"Inca Roads"
"RDNZL"
"Village of the Sun"
"Echidna\'s Arf (Of You)"
"Don\'t You Ever Wash That Thing?"
"Pygmy Twylyte"
"Room Service"
"The Idiot Bastard Son"
"Cheepnis"
They should do Lawn Boy.
reba=:drool:
Ive always thought it would be interesting (i dont know if a band has ever done this) to play a show where everyone in the band (including the drummer) is facing directly away from the audience. It would make for a very interesting show where the crowd and the band would need to be totally focused on the music itself, rather than what the band/crowd is doing. Maybe its been done before, but i think it would be cool to see what would happen. Any thoughts?
Pearl Jam does that every time they play Last Kiss, buit that\'s only for the 1 song and they do it more for the people who have tickets behind the stage than to ignore those in front. Also, anyone who plays a show in the round would be playing with their back to the audience at one point or another throughout the night.
-
Gamehendge is the coolest idea I\'ve ever heard. That would be absolutely crazy. If they advertised that they were going to do it, a sellout would be a 100% guarantee. No brainer. Best publicity idea for the Breakfast EVER.
I wonder...
Possible Gordon sitin? He\'s probably chillin nearby.
-
"the moist green organic... that my feet tread upon"
you\'d have to pay Ron like 4 million dollar$
breakfast reba would = me shitting or pissing my trousers
I\'m with ya. I\'m bringing the Depends.
-
"I can smell the colors....outside on my lawn"
-
You know, I\'ve changed my mind. If there\'s an phish album, per say, that I would like to see someone try and cover, it would have to be Gamehendge. I think that would be an album that told a story and could flow rather than a conventional album.
that\'s not an album, per say.

This is a very interesting idea, it would either work really well, or just go down in flames. I would think the band might feel a little detached from the audience, and remove from teh give and take of the group experience
I think it would be very important to choose the songs they played wisely...im not sure exactly what songs i have in mind, but this would definitely be necesary to the sucess of something like this.

Rift would be the album to do in my opinion. It has always been my favorite, and its really the only album with a story too it, so maybe they could throw in some commentary/other songs in between the album songs. I dont really care either way if they do it, bit if they did, id go nuts.

It wouldn\'t be my choice to do this, but if the band wants to do it then go for it. I\'ll be downloading it out of curiosity and regardless of what they decide to play.
-
I love listening to phish and it\'s not playing a phish album that I have as much of an issue with. Playing a cover on halloween was phish\'s thing. I think that if they were to do it for that show, in VT, would just be too much. If they want to do a phish thing, then maybe they should cover a show, ala Dark Star Orchestra - I think phish was much better live than on album. Why not do a Misfits album, they personified horror and halloween and the set would only be 25-30 minutes - enough time for two monster sets of original music.
I think we need to stop worrying about things being Phish\'s "thing" Phish is dead. I call it evolution, moving on, it\'s not like the breakfast would be only the second band to cover an album on Halloween. Hell it\'s not even the second time The Breakfast has covered an album. The whole musical costume thing is a good idea, why does it have to be Phish\'s exclusive thing? and having their first Halloween album being a phish album is kinda a nice homage. just one man\'s opinion.

i really don\'t get all the phish hate. they were great, and they\'re done. let capable musicians carry on their music.
haters, i am curious... would you rather hear the breakfast cover:
Rockin\' In The Free World OR You Enjoy Myself?
Jumpin\' Jack Flash OR It\'s Ice?
Whipping Post OR Reba?
Jump OR Run Like An Antelope?
Hot For Teacher OR Divided Sky?
COME ON!!
the only one here that would give me debate would be whipping post, if in some far stretch Kalie from Electric Blue could sit in I would totally be down for a Whipping Post. Other than that, **** yeah bring on the face melters....
-
A song or two once in a while, fine. Not a whole album.

Well if this were a favorite Phish album thread maybe someone would have.
That would be a nice album for them to cover though thanks for the input.

rift, ghost, and prob billy breathes are prob my top 3, but valid point
-

ill take a story of the ghost over a junta any day of the week..
be a tough call but I\'d prob have to go with Ghost, it\'s debatably my fav phish album, depending on my mood.
-
I agree with ya wah - disc 2 kinda sux...
-
lol thanx
I just think the guys with the addition of Matt are ready to make a statement and everyone\'s bar seems to be topped with Phish nowadays and The Breakfast can tear that **** down with one show in the right setting.
-
leith=always willing to negotiate
praise
-
Fine. Thread title changed.
-
^^
Yep and yep
Fluffhead is the only song off Junta I would care to see Breakfast play. Billy Breathes or Story of the Ghost is where its at.....
and even then I\'d rather just see Breakfast light up their own tracks
I really doubt playing Junta is some great opportunity either. I mean, coooool , so they played it. But there\'s a reason its pretty rare to hear somebody listen to Junta all the way through. And that reason goes by the name of Union Federal, Esther, and Sanity. Aka songs that suck and would suck to hear Breakfast play.
-
i just think part 2 of it will be a snoozefest.
-
I like Story of the Ghost as an overall production far better, but the Junta songs are the songs that put Phish on the map.
Could be the songs to put the Bfast on the map, too.
-
ill take a billy breathes over a junta any day of the week..
-
Yeah but RAQ just did a Zappa set they would just be copying RAQ!
Tim did a Diesel Experiment in 2000 playing a full set of Zappa, so RAQ clearly copied Tim.
Yeah you obviously did not see the bottom of that post where I posted I was just messin\' around.
ill take a story of the ghost over a junta any day of the week..
Silly Wah
Sleeper, my silly little friend, let me ask you...
Who makes up the bulk of the B\'fast current audience?
Who is the Bfast\'s target audience?
Who are they playing for in **** Burlington?
Playing a Phish cover album on Halloween ala Phish in Phish\'s hometown would bring them HUGE attention.
I bet it would sound good, too.
It\'s all about recognizing a great opportunity when it presents itself and I think this could be one.

Wolf - I have no problem with them playing it, and my opinion may not mean much on this board, but I\'ve been to too many shows in the past where people would be screaming for them to play YEM all show. Now do you go to a show to hear covers? I don\'t. But if they plan to play an album for the FF, and since Sgt. Pepper has been done, then may I suggest Joe\'s Garage - some good and fun tunes for a holiday show. That\'s just my 2 cents.

Sorry, Ron is good and sometimes great but Cliff Burton was a Bass guitar GOD!!!!

Pearl Jam- VS would be awesome too. Little bits of acoustic beauty in the midst of RAWK!

-
Personally, I would lose my #&^$ if this happened and would love every second of it. In fact, it would make a serious run at being the greatest 90 minute stretch of my life. And any good fan of The Breakfast or Phish would feel the same.
On the flip side, there\'s no doubt that scene backlash would be greater than or equal to scene respect for this maneuver. As we all know, people love to hate on all things Phish, especially covering them. You might as well just play something else that carries an equally high chance of respect without the high risk of backlash.
It\'s too bad, really. The Breakfast could be kicking the crap out of YEM and Stash a couple times a year for special occasions. But with so many losers who don\'t want to hear it, you can\'t do it.

i think they should cover YCDTOSA #2 disc 1
-
they know a few of those songs already but it would take a lot practice in the next month to nail songs like foam and fluffhead.
I\'d gladly pay to see it tho.
Fluffhead has been covered at side projects in the past & sounded good... so it might not be so tough; but the whole album?!? Are you ser, leith?!
-
Bad idea Leith. If they did that, they would probably be ragged on for copying Phish\'s playing a cover album on Halloween. Second, (and this is my opinion only) I hated when they played Phish or Dead tunes because then you had all the wanna bees asking them to play their favorite dead or phish tune rather than their favorite originals. We want them to succeed on their own merit. They days of playing covers to please the crowd should be long gone.
Well they are playing an album for the Freakout anyway so your reasoning is null and void there.
If they are gonna get ragged on as you say for covering an album on Halloween like Phish used to may as well be a Phish album.
Besides this is the only band I can think of that would have the balls and talent (well Ron may not have the balls) to cover a Phish album in Phish\'s homestate.
Oh and once people heard them shred the **** out of Phish they would be succeeding on their own merit.

wanna bees

Yeah there is that. Nice to see you\'re well enough to post in a random thread bro. Keep up the healing!

you\'d have to pay Ron like 4 million dollar$

For these reasons:
It would be a hook that Jambands.com etc. could not ignore.
It would display the musical prowess of this band in the best way possible to many.
It would probably be the most downloaded show on Archive.org for quite awhile.
Due to the excellence that the band would display in absolutely shredding this album any comparisons to Phish would stop as people would finally get over Phish being gone and get wit\' some Breakfast.
It would give many of their longtime fans aka the ones that found them in the lots back in the day a real nice treat.
They are playing in Vermont.
It\'s The Breakfast playing Phish songs Come On!
