I have to agree with the point of not overdoing it.
-
the 2nd show is way better than the first IMO. I hope this continues to happen.
-
All I know is that acoustic Breakfast is very accessible, and a great way to ease some folk into this band. So these shows are a godsend in that aspect.
-
I am just glad that they are finding the opportunities to play together as much as they can. Only good things can happen once they find that musical stream and all converge on it. There are great things on the way and if Daniel Street is any indication to what the four of them are capable of, Broseph help us all, we are in for a beautiful ride.
Sundays are a great way to end/begin the week with good friends and great music. Every week? no! Every other month that they are not touring, once or twice, is a nice treat.
-
Personally I think every Sunday would be overkill. 1-2 per month would be better, IMO.
I think the next one should be around the holidays

What about starting to drop random accustic/afternoon shows/sets randomly in tours?
Agreed with the football season comment...unless they hooked it up outside the meadowlands or foxborough
Random * random is still random, you don\'t get normal.
It\'s not like negatives.

in the venue the audio was all over the place in set one of the first week. Tweaked throughout and perfect somewhere in the middle of set 2. second show the audio was fine throughout.
<-has not listened to either show back yet
-
I downloaded both shows and am listening the the first. My only gripe is that Tim\'s guitar is way above everyone and I can\'t hear Matt\'s piano or vocals at all. Is it just me?
-
acoustic breakfast is the booomb and i hope to god they book a couple shows for the winter holiday season when i return to new england.
i think the consensus is def that it should not be every week but should stay a regular event. also, i think it would be cool if they took it on the road and maybe did a mini acoustic set like the circus freakout/fall tour a while back. but it might be too much equipment and effort to be worth the while.
-
I was thinking the same way you have a timmy tour; when in town, every wednesday. I can see the view of you don\'t want it to go stale so maybe not every week, and obviously don\'t sacrafice a tour for it, but jakes is a nice little venue and it might even be cool to see an electric show in there one of these days, they do have that nice little lighting rig.
I love acoustic shows though, see how the songs change, feels more like a jam in your living room, etc. Little things, like how ron didn\'t slap the second part of over exposure, how adrian adjusts the songs to fit the smaller conga/djembe/bass kit, or the impromptu vocal jam in honey butter.

Acoustic Breakfast is cool.
But it ain\'t no electric Breakfast.
I listened to the Jake\'s show on my mp3 player..... barely got through it (zzzzzzzzz). On the other hand I can\'t stop listening to Utica and Daniel Street.
I don\'t diss their unplugged chops. But the vibe and sound of an electric show is so much better I think playing Acoustic Jakes is great, but if they have an opportunity to play an electric show on a Sunday I sure hope they take it!
-
My understanding is that it will be an every once in a while thing. And I totally agree. If it were to continue every week, even with how great it is now, it would turn stale pretty quick. Too much of a good thing is hardly ever ok.
-
Well Tim DID mention doing this again at last night\'s show. Something about when there is snow on the ground and they need a warm place to play or something like that.
So maybe they are already thinking about this huh?
-
As of right now, it doesn\'t look like the band is letting Jake\'s get in the way of any other business. To me, yesterday proved that an acoustic show is a bona fide Breakfast show, not a gimmick. So what\'s wrong with playing them whenever possible? I\'m sure the Jake\'s management will be for it for as long as people keep showing up and buying food/drinks. And if necessary to keep them alive, I don\'t think that anybody who was there last night would be opposed to paying a few bucks to get in the door (though it could prevent the shows from getting any bigger). It certainly couldn\'t hurt the band financially to have a regular gig on Sunday (usually an off day when they are local), as long as it\'s not getting in the way of touring and playing bigger venues than Jake\'s.
Maybe I\'m wrong and acoustic shows would start to be hit or miss after the band\'s repitoire got a full run-through, but failing that I don\'t see the downside... again assuming that these shows are being fit in whenever possible to the band\'s schedule and not built in or given priority over other gigs.

oops, that last post was me. i\'m all for the Breakfast doing whatever they can do to get to more places on any day of the week, and sure a semi regular show at Jake\'s is great for everyone in CT, but no need to do beat it to death.
especially during football season. :)
3 week stints (is that a word?) every couple months would be nice though.

so does that mean the band can only tour and play electric shows on thursday thru saturday?
-
Sign me up!
-
I\'ll sign, but only if Diana promises to drive to Wallingford every Sunday.

signed...I would never miss a Sunday!!!

You know you want this to to keep going. Same way they used to play every week at rudys or blues cafe, etc. How sick would it be to have this every sunday? I doubt it would do anything but I want the band to know that it\'s not just me who wants this to keep going!
acoustic breakfast =
