She was diagnosed with lung cancer yesterday. we\'ll get the prognosis from the oncologist today. she\'s been a smoker most of her life, but at least seemed to be in good spirits last night. she definitely seems to have the right mental attitude to fight this, so here\'s to her!

sorry to hear that man. the more positive energy you can surround yourself with the better the chances of having a positive outcome. so here\'s to her and the family and friends surrounding her. i wish you all Herculean strength

I am very sad to hear that, it is unfortunate.

Jill\'s mother still live in CT? What hospital is she being treated at? I only ask because my mother is an oncology nurse at Yale New Haven and I see the relationship that she has with some of her patients and its amazing what these nurses can bring to people who are struggling to survive.

Hope she gets better.

update in case anyone wants to know...she has an adenocarcinoma. it has also spread to her lymphatic system. so she is not a good candidate for surgery. she\'ll have to get chemo. ugh. Sad no radiation though. she\'s been having arrhythmias too but that might be due to irritation from the chest tube. as far as prognosis they still need to run more tests. she\'s getting a bone scan and a ct scan of her head today. after the chemo they might try some new drug treatments, possibly tarceva or sutent. but my sister wants her to get a 2nd opinion too which i think is a good idea. so that\'s all i know right now.
