if you have decent credit get a mac, pay for it monthly. i just bought a new laptop a month or so ago and really REALLY didn\'t want another windows based computer, but I couldn\'t afford a mac and didnt get approved through apple
Personally I never install a MicroSoft OS until after the first service pack is released. Also XP pro is a very stable OS. Between home and office I currently have several XP Pro systems running. They never go down and have not been rebooted for many months.
How about Linux for free... loaded with tons of software for free.
Looks better, works better, supports the little guy, all that good stuff.
Check out Fedora Core 6 that\'s the Linux I\'d recommend to people these days. I used to work on PCs and Macs at my college help desk , technician stuff, ... any OS can be set up allright except Windows ME.
But if you like to be able to customize your gear and have everything for free and have it work better taboot, try Linux.
... of course if you like to play computer games and use certain platform specific software you\'re stuck. But you\'d probably be surprised to find out the diversity and quality of open source apps for Linux, there\'s a lot of enthusiam in the community to keep this stuff ahead of the curve.
Did I mention your computer will also be faster??
At home, I have a desktop PC, Todd has a desktop PC, he has a Dell laptop, and I have a MAC laptop. I\'ve owned the MAC for about a year, now, and have watched ALL of the PC\'s shut down unexpectedly & need to be rebooted, due to processor issues, etc. My MAC has been steady - no problems, no shutdowns, and no unnecessary downloads to supposedly "correct bugs."
I highly suggest a MAC - it may cost some $$ now, but it\'ll be well worth it in the long run! :awwyeah:
(They\'re for sale cheap @ some places in CT, too!
IMAC )

You still haven\'t gotten a mac, put yourself in a little dent, invest in a mac and get final cut pro. FCP is expensive at the start, but if you keep upgrading final cut, (like I didn\'t) it won\'t be too bad. There is also FCP Xpress. I can prob. get a copy of the newest upgrade of FCP from kids at school, there is one copy of one burned in our video studio. With all your connections, you can\'t find a reasonably priced mac deal. Try educational pricing @ mac online or macmall.com or any other outfit like that. That\'s how I got mine.
And if you did have a mac that video for the 1,000 show would have been done by now.
Do you want me to work on it for you?

PS I am too busy to read everyone\'s responses, b/c I am working on Dr. Sierpe\'s research proposal-do you remember him from southern Paul, he is a tough teacher.

Funny, i had that ready to go back at the begining of august and I did it on a pc. You\'re telling me if I used a mac it would have taken me an additional 7 months? not much of a sale there nikki.
