Asheville\'s got this great brewery Highland brewing company, they make the gaelic ale, an instant classic.  Georgia\'s Sweetwater Brewing Company does that "420" pale ale nonsense, but their brown ale called "Sweet Georgia Brown," is def one of my favorite beers ever.  Both are HIGHLY recommended.

Up here, I think Ommegang holds it down pretty tuff if youre into the belgian type.  they are real true to the style and are always full of variety that usually leaves me very impressed.

Yeah that 420 Ale was the only decent beer on Jamcruise last year and I was not too impressed. Maybe I was just soured to it because I drank so much of it and was therefore pretty sick of it by the end of the cruise.

Great beers blackieshamps  Highland\'s Sturbridge is rock solid.  Ommegang might be the best brewery in America, and virtually nobody knows about them because everything they do is Belgian strong ale so they have such a limited scope of drinkers.  Unreal beers though, and the brewers are all ringers brought in directly from Belgium to work their magic.  They also do a huge Ultimate Frisbee tournament each summer for club teams from across New York and New England.  The winning team wins their weight in beer!!!  (Comes out to about 40 cases...of 8-12% ABV beer, mind you.)  I got to play in it this year, it was great.

Who can forget all the old Wolfman ulitmate frisbee games on the hill at UMass?

I am impressed by your thorough knowledge of beer, though it is your profession and passion.

We have a whole lineup of heady beers out here that doesn\'t include Magic Hat, Long Trail etc. (they are all regional interests of the Northeast).  I\'m not going to start naming beers, but there are lots of good ones.

Next question:  Which store has the best selection of alcohol?  One name that comes to mind is the Spirit Haus in Amherst, MA.

The place I live above has an amazing selection of micro-beers / imports.

Katonah Beverage Barn - Katonah NY (2 seconds off of 684, Exit 6 )

I was thinking about taking a picture of some of the shelves so you guys could make some suggestions.

I guy that went to UMass with us is from Katonah, I\'ll ask him how the Barn ranks with Spirit Haus.  Katonah Beverage Barn sounds like it would have a "heady" selection.

Since Wolfman has worked for Sam Adams in a few regional markets, I\'m sure he knows of some of the best stores in MA, CT and NYC.

katonah Bev barn is really good for around here.

Not sure how it will stack up with some Mass stores. It is a pretty small place they just have a lot of hard to find ales etc
