Lights on during the day. I don\'t give a **** if it\'s cloudy or sunny, keep the **** lights off. It immediately gives me a headache and I feel uncomfortable. Shades can be drawn.

I understand what Gordo means.  If you have any kind of daylight that can light the room it beats those awful fluorescent lights you find in most buildings. Though the waste of it all bothers me more than the aesthetic.
A man who has seen the things I have seen,
experienced the loss and pain I have experienced,

On that same note, people who light their houses from the outside with a bunch of spotlights and leave them on all night long REALLY grind my gears.  Like those two houses on Mansion Road on the left hand turn after School House Rd.  I\'ve driven by those houses at all hours of the night and morning and they are always on.  I don\'t care if you can afford it, there\'s no point to it.
Lois: What the hell?  Marilyn Manson?  Is that who\'s causing all this?  Peter: Yeah, it\'s all him or hers fault.  Who does he or she think he or she is?  Look, you can totally see his or her nipples.  That\'s obscene... maybe.  Lois: There\'s only one thing to do.  Peter: You\'re right.  We got to find this Marilyn Manson and I\'ve got to give that bastard or **** a piece of my mind or ****.

It\'s just something that grinds my gears. Can\'t really explain the feeling, it just bothers me. I\'m not claiming it to make sense, and I\'m not saying people should follow suit, I just wish they would because I don\'t handle it well. It\'s not an issue of "waste" either, lights just give me a painful buzz during the day.

btw, I love stormy days with no lights on. No matter how stormy it is, it\'s never pitch black. Even sunset\'s last moments, I find the dim indoors quite appealing.
The crickets and the rust-beetles scuttled among the nettles of the sagethicket. "Vamanos amigos," he whispered, and threw the busted leather flintscraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And they rode on in the friscalating dusklight.  --Eli Cash

while I agree with you completely... some folks believe it\'s a crime deterrent.

I hear ya, but why not use the motion detector flood lights and possibly a porch light.  And if you still live in fear perhaps a 12 gauge shotgun backed up by a 44 magnum (with an 8-10" barrel for scare factor) and some schrapnel bombs (easy to make! ...CO2 cartridge, blackpowder and fuse).  You\'d be surprised how fast an intruder will run away screaming!  Not that I\'ve ever used \'em...  :liar:

There\'s an easy solution to that problem... Sign your number up on the DNC and don\'t enter your number anywhere on the net...  Welcome back!

Thanks, Yoda!  Hope the new baby isn\'t keeping you awake! ;) I am already plotting my return to the islands.   I am seriously "homesick" for there already!

i definitely have to do that with my number.   it happened twice in Maui and I seriously wanted to just turn off my phone, but i was worried my family couldnt reach me in a case of an emergency.

isnt that what voice mail is for ?

Why wouldn\'t you turn off your phone while you are asleep and then check messages in the AM and keep the phone on in your waking hours ?

Time difference is so crazy. I was afraid of an emergency i wouldn\'t get it for hours after.   When I was alseep, they are awake and vice versa.   I am not one of those people who can just turn off the phone to vm.  Not with my family. I worry too much about them.    At home, I am prone to do that because my husband leaves his phone on...so if they needed me, they\'d call his.

Travel to places where US cell phones don\'t work.

Seriously, that\'s the best excuse in the world.

"Dude, did you get my calls, where have you been the last month?"

I have no problem turning my phone off. In fact i hate the phone with a passion.

My family also knows that if I am hours / time zones away there isn\'t anything I am going to be able to do for them in an immediate emergency.

Plus I suffer from "baby in the family syndrome." I am always the last to get notified of anything that happens in my family if at all. :)

Hope you had a nice vacation tho.
