If I am ever to be married, it is definitely going to be a casual-simple affair.  25k for a day is not one of my values, but seems to be par for most people.

The scary thing is that these days 25K is really not that much.  I have heard and been to weddings in the past years that have trumped that as much as 5X.

Yup, I know some people who spent 70k and broke up within the year of the wedding.  Maybe there is a strong, positive correlation between superficial people and wedding size?

If I\'m spending 25K on one day, it better involve a jetski and a lot of ****.

Yeah, i am actually having what people call "a small wedding" since its only 90 people.  So that makes you see the cost of things.  90=25 k.  Can you imagine people who have 150 people??   I went into this whole wedding deal wanting a small intimate affair like maybe 45 people.....something reaaal low key and you\'ll say it too I am sure.  But remember, YOU WILL HAVE A MOTHER IN LAW! ;)   What they want goes!   And before you know it, your own mother will put her two cents in.  And before you know it, your wedding isn\'t your wedding. Sorry, guess that\'s what really grinds my gears......

Mothers.

That is hilarious.

Not that I want anything to do with this conversation, but... as of this moment, I\'m having 160 people, and my cost is $15k... so, it can be done

That\'s odd, my brother had nearly 300 people at his wedding last year and the total cost reached 20k.. I thought that was steep, but jesus what are you guys eating?!

Cost of the ceremony- pffffffffft.  Real wedding insurance would pay for the divorce.

So you are getting an annoying mother-in-law.

Skye, you don\'t have to justify the cost of the wedding - you totally seem like the type that has been planning her wedding day for the last 25 years.

Union League in New Haven is some expensive yummy food.  Its worth it.  i hate going to weddings where you leave hungry.  my guests are going to be rolling down the street.   They are getting lots and lots of food.  We threw in extras.   And open bar with speciality drinks galore.  But the 25K, I speak of isn\'t the reception....its everything added together, and it adds up fast!  the DJ, the photographer, the dress, the limos, the cake, the bridal party gifts, the invitations, etc. etc. etc.

now that\'s an insurance plan I wouldn\'t mind paying for... good chance for a return on your investment!!
Lois: What the hell?  Marilyn Manson?  Is that who\'s causing all this?  Peter: Yeah, it\'s all him or hers fault.  Who does he or she think he or she is?  Look, you can totally see his or her nipples.  That\'s obscene... maybe.  Lois: There\'s only one thing to do.  Peter: You\'re right.  We got to find this Marilyn Manson and I\'ve got to give that bastard or **** a piece of my mind or ****.

They say its good luck if there is a hurricane on your wedding day ;)

I am actually hoping for a hurricane, cause we have wedding insurance just for that reason, and then i get all the money back.  And then i can just take it all with me to hawaii .....

a girl can dream.

And i am not surprised a natural disaster is approaching on my wedding day.

it\'s fitting.

wait...um you\'re spending twenty five large on a party and you\'re hoping a hurricane comes so you can get your money back... ummm.... ok.

Except that she forgot the biggest problem of all. Insurance companies don\'t pay claims.
