Ha Next time Wah gets uppity I\'ll have some Vogon Poetry read to him.
best book ever!
How can peole say you can\'t have a trilogy in 5 parts?
Don\'t talk to me about life!
"He had found a Nutri-Matic machine which had provided him with a plastic cup filled with a liquid that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea."
"The Nutri-Matic was designed and manufactured by the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation whose complaints department now covers all the major landmasses of the first three planets in the Sirius Tau Star system."
"Another thing that got forgotten was the fact that against all probability a sperm whale had suddenly been called into existence several miles above the surface of an alien planet.* And as this is not a naturally tenable position for a whale, this poor innocent creature had very little time to come to terms with its identity as a whale before it then had to come to terms with not being a whale any more."
I have been trying to remember what the sunglasses were called that would change to opaque black at the first sign of danger.

the whale was always one of my favorite things. I was so happy to see him in the trailer - split second shot of a beautiful blue cloudy sky and a whale falling through it. 2 seconds shot and it made the trailer.
Its been 4/5 years since I read it, so Im a little hazy on every little thing, but its still one of the best pieces of literature ever penned. I loved it when they met god and he was all depressed and lonely.
who was the guy who\'s mission it was in life was to tell every living thing in the universe that he didn\'t like them? I think I saw him in the preview also.
So is this movie only covering HHGTTG or is it a combination of the books? Just wondering because things like the sunglasses and the guy that tells everyone he does not like them are in the later books.
Definitely NOT the best book ever, IMO... lol, no offense... great writing, but... there is a lot out there...
The trailer has me nervous; I\'m almost certain that the movie isn\'t going to do the literature justice. If I hadn\'t read or heard of The Guide, from viewing the trailer I would think the movie is just a big cheesy sci fi adventure. I am concerned the movie is going too be too much of a visual extravaganza instead of focusing on the SUBSTANCE of the story. But we will see.

I am afraid you r gonna be right Joc. I don\'t think the general public will like the film unless it has the big visuals or @ least I believe that is what the producers of the film probably believe.

ok, maybe not the single best, but its definetly up there with vonegut as far as satire in my opinion. When I want to just laugh my ass off, this series is what to read.
visuals - this looks like what I always wanted in the movie. It you ever saw the tv show, the budget was so low that it suffered greatly. I will b dissapointed though if major plot sections are left out just to throw in some more visuals. This has the unfortunate potential to go all stephen king-movie on us. (Horrible movies that are completely different from the books)
As far as covering just the one book, I think so. I read them all one right after another, so some of the order stuff happened in is blurry, but from the trailer i *think* its just the origional book.
either way, I\'m psyched for it.
I laughed pretty much all the way through this movie.
No it does not follow the book verbatim and it is given the streamlined screenplay tx. It works though. The humor of the book comes through very strikingly and I even loved the "added" piece w/ John Malkovich. Each character was played very well by the actors and I am going to see it again.
When you see Magrathea\'s production floor, you will be impressed. If you have not read the book you should still have a good time as it is a well made movie. If you have read the book you should enjoy the movie as Douglas Adams did a wonderful job of getting the gist of his book into the screenplay. Keep your eyes AND ears open for tidbits HGTTG fans will def. appreciate. Wow after much trepidation I am so glad I worried in VAIN!! Anyone for Lunch @ Milliways?
Only seen the trailer so far, which was, IMHO, very poor - would not entice anyone who didn\'t know the books into thinking it was not just another sci-fi movie, rather than such a satirical masterpiece. And don\'t get me started on that horrible American voice over... Sorry, the book is particularly English - Stephen Fry should have done the voice over, as the voice of the Book. We\'re all pretty nervous here about having Americans in the cast too - general opinion amongst fans here is we hope it won\'t be too "Hollywood-ized". Going to see it this pm - will let you know the British (

) take on it.
