Our scheduled quit date is June 10th. Trying the pills this time. Damn...they have a pill for EVERYTHING!

do they have a pill for people who are hooked on pills?

I am pretty sure they do.........
Good luck Holly! I hear that after your 4th day of quitting, most of the nicotine is out of your system, so it should get easier. Drink lots of water & chew lots of gum too.
My quit day w/ todd is 6/10, so we\'ll be where you are soon... I tried the patch, which didn\'t help at all. This time around, I\'m trying a new pill called Chantix - it\'s like Zyban without all the side effects. I hope it works!
Believe it or not, I\'ve got my first meeting with a chick at the Yale School of Meds. I passed the first screening to be in a smoking cessation research study. I figured I\'d give it a go-it\'s free and close by. Rather than try a bunch of stuff that\'s going to cost me a fortune, I thought I\'d be a guinea pig for a bit and see what happens.
i\'m still going strong. but i don\'t really count, according to some.
for those who are in the process of quitting: everytime you have the desire to have a cigarette, feel free to place it aside in a special \'antbach\' empty pack and give them to me next time you see me

funny how lots of people are trying to quit these days when I have increased my intake from 1 pack a day to almost 2. . .

wanna split \'em with me??...i\'ve definitely increased the amount i smoke working outside all day. not to mention the tightwad that keeps bumming from me.
Good luck smokers!
Too bad you missed too many health classes in elementary school.

So does that mean we should have the smoking moderators in full force on Block Island, to ensure that nobody slips up?
smoke weed instead.
My rule: If it doesn\'t get me high, I won\'t smoke it.
smoke weed instead.
i do that too...just when i get home from work. i actually really don\'t smoke a lot when i\'m home and the house is non-smoking so that definitely helps. but during the day i\'m like a chimney...have a smoke at just about every tee/green/sand-trap (depending on the day\'s work) i get to. i\'ll tell ya...it gets boring driving a tractor all by your lonesome for 8 hours a day, gotta do something to keep me sane.

good luck Amy. but don\'t forget what happened to Ken Griffey when he tried one of those medical studies
a little bit of psychology for ya, based on the principles of conditioning (i.e. Pavlov\'s dog studies). wear a rubber band on your wrist and every time you feel the need for a cig, pull the rubber band and snap yourself. sounds harsh but it will work. scientifically, your mind will subliminally associate cigs with the uncomfortable feeling of the rubber band being snapped and you will no longer want them..... in theory
