Peck, nice job on the nature photography... looks like you found yourself a gray treefrog (Hyla versicolor), and a beautiful example taboot... I mean, just check out that lovely shade of orange coming up from under the posterior legs... what a little beauty!
Come on now Mama, scared of a ringneck? That is about the whimpiest snake out there.... and for the record, snakes are not gooey or slimey. They are dry & feel like a piece of fine leather.
yay Marcial
You can appreciate how terrible this is- all of my lizards and my 2 snakes were killed by the person who was in charge of taking care of them for 2 weeks.
< < Loves reptiles and amphibians.
Go take some more muscle relaxers you perv!
That sucks, Jocelyn! What the hell happened? It is tough to kill a healthy reptile in 2 weeks... they must have let them get too hot or too cold. Either way, I\'m sorry to hear that.
Mark, I always knew you were as cool as they come.
what a beautiful creature! I think that\'s good luck, Dave.
yay Marcial

Well my bearded was looking pretty old and frail, but the others were healthy.
Exboyfriend didn\'t feed them, water them, or turn the lights on in the daytime. Shoulda put the lights on a timer. But for a handful of tanks, not really necessary.... they were all plugged into one thingie. Just had to flip a switch.
My guess is the water was the problem.
I had one gecko that lived but he died shortly after I got back, I think due to a broken heart since his girlfriend passed away. (lol, that doesn\'t happen with herps does it? he he)
On second thought, maybe they had some sort of disease? I don\'t know. Looked dehydrated to me.
Here\'s a new little project that I\'ve been planning for a while, but am just bringing to fruition.... a new home for my spotted turtles. I just built the stand & filled it up this weekend.... plan to have a ton of live plants and a small population of livebearing fish so they can have something to chase / catch / snack on. The empty side is going to be filled up with dirt for a land area, and I\'m going to try my luck with some carnivorous pitcher plants... very little shop of horrors-ish... I love it!
Joc... yep... no food or water for 2 weeks will usually have that effect... sorry to hear it.
That looks awesome Marcial.
I have yet to be brave or dedicated enough to try live plants in with my guys. I am so afraid of screwing something up.
:thumbsup:That\'s so cool! (ok, a little freaky, but cool!)
My own past experience with reptiles ended on a sour note...
In college I bought 4 lizards from Petco... not realizing that I needed to feed them LIVE crickets! (hey, before I get any "blonde" jokes, I was 17...) So I couldn\'t bear to feed these poor, innocent crickets to my lizards, and my cute & spunky lizards died a slow, painful death. I tried giving them lettuce & other random table scraps, but they refused. They went from green to brown in about 4 days
Oh my god.
PEOPLE please don\'t buy pets before you know what you are getting into. I am feeling guilty enough for leaving animals in the care of someone who was obviously not competant enough to take care of them. But at least I took good care of them myself. That is a really terrible story of being seriously irresponsible.
Also, why would a carnivorous animal eat vegetables? Jesus...
That looks awesome Marcial.

nah... nothing to it... once you get it established, it pretty much takes care of itself...
Hmm well when I go about getting some new critters I may ask for your help with this.
