Question for the train from New Haven to NYC
« on: »
so I\'m going to NYC tomorrow, and never have taken the train from New Haven....is there any difference between the two trainstations in New Haven (Union St or the State St), or is there just two different stops in New Haven. Also, do you have to use those ticket machines or is there an actual person to talk to (I hate dealing with a machine). Thanks

You are going to want to go from Union Station.  I think the new State St station is for the Shoreline East commuter rail.  There will be real live ticket agents at Union Sta.

In that station you might be able to find an actualy human to talk to for help.  Those machines are a pain in the ass!
Where to next?

Leave from Union Station.  Biggest/nicest train station on the Metro-North East line other than Gran Central.

I\'m pretty sure there is a booth in the station to buy tickets from a person, but the machines are the way to go...very easy.

Simply select the number of tickets, then round trip or one way.  Then as long as you are not traveling from 6:00am-9:00am select off peak. That\'s it.  Super Easy.
Good Luck
