A **** poll for this.  I love it.

Now I am clearly not a smart man, but to the best of my understanding insects can only serve as carriers of the disease (any disease) and getting bit doesn\'t guarantee infection, unless of course the one that bit you was a carrier.

So guess you need a 3rd option for the poll of Quite possibly fux0rd.

For the record I know two people who had Lyme disease and got through it just fine.  It was a **** for them to go through, but they are totally ok now.

Go to the Doctor ASAP.   ASAP!!!   They\'ll put you on some antibiotics.  I had lyme disease....the key....antibiotics....and getting them right away....

I also did hear that giant dog semen is also good to fight lyme infection, the only problem is that it must be taken orally within 4 hours of after pulling the tick off of you....GOOD LUCK Sir Peck!

so.....do we create some sort of gambling pool out of this?  I think Peck would want it that way...

But, on a SER note...save the tick in between two pieces of scotch tape just in case. What type of tick was it? Big brown dog tick, medium size with a red back, small needle point size black tick, etc., etc. There are several different types around here. Also, are you sure you got the head out?

Wait three or four days and see if you develop a rash. Round red rings with the bite in the center. As someone who has been bitten over a hundred and fifty times by ticks and had Lyme seven times, I can say...DO NOT freak out. The chances of you contracting Lyme are pretty slim. If you develop a rash within the next week, or feel flu-like within the next two, take the tick to your doctor to get tested and then get on the antibiotics. The unnecessary ingestion of antibiotics will only hurt you in the future.

Edit: Just noticed you did say DEER tick...but, again, there are at least four types of deer ticks. How big was it...color?

A little known thing is that Lyme disease actually comes from mice. A tick needs to feed off of a mouse first and then a deer in order for Lyme to become active in the tick.

Better check tyson over pretty good. Did you get it while on a bike ride? your yard? hiking? If not as someone who has had poison ivy and ticks more than any other person I\'ve ever known, I would take whatever tka is saying as the best advice.

I bet this is just another psychosomatic case like when Mrs. Hoover was out sick.

i don\'t know how long the fucker was feasting on my inner sauce, but it was definitely there this morning. it was itching me at work, and i have a mole right around the same area that gets itchy every once in a while. i just assumed that\'s what it was.. i had lisa take a look when i got home, and the informed me of the little vermin who was calling my neck his home. she yanked it with this little tick yanker thingamaboo that we just got for tyson, and got the whole thing out.

Did she save it? Or did she toss it in the trash? Being in the medical profession, I hope she saved it!!

Oh, btw, I\'m not sure of recent studies and info., but from what I\'ve learned in my many years dealing with these little fuckers, is that it takes over 5 hours from the time an infected tick to bite you until you are susceptible to infection.

I\'ve gotten bitten by ticks before and never gotten lymes.  A tick in and of itself does not mean lymes.  As Todd said the main thing you wanna watch is for a red ring around the bit that\'s the tell-tale sign.

But...not to scare you...three of the times I had Lyme disease, I had no rash. A week or two after I got bitten I started feeling the tell tale flu-like symptoms. I then had the ticks tested (yes, I collect EVERY tick that bites me and label them with date and location), and sure enough...
