not voting is ignorance, and anything that is said about one vote not contributing blah blah, is not valid imo.
maybe if it wasn\'t such a goddamn process to deal with an absentee ballot
You can apply for one online now...not that hard at all!!!
For the first time EVER, I\'m choosing not to vote for anyone. The state of politics makes it extremely difficult to trust & put confidence in any one party or candidate. IMO, there\'s no one I feel strongly about enough to put my vote in for; & life will go on, no matter who takes the office.
I actually just read Plato for a class, Machivelli too, twisted dude wiht a lot of good ideas
holly, you make me sad. educate yourself girl!!!
(you could have gotten an absentee online through this past weekend. and you\'re thinking of the electoral college taking away the individual vote. this is a midterm, hon, no ec.)
I have not and never will agree with the attitude of "I\'ll prove a point by staying home and not voting." This does not prove anything because there is no way to track the reason you stayed home. Further more, the less people that vote, the less people it takes to swing an election. I wish there were multiple parties. Not just 2 or 3, the more the better. I wish we had 100% voter turnout every time. Most years we don\'t break 35% which is an insult to all the generations of people who died for the sole purpose of giving you that right.
Maybe it\'s just me, but I\'m probably the only person here who has read the republic here as well. As Plato said, the man upset with his government who is unwilling to step up and do a better job himself has no grounds to complain about anything the goverment does.
I learned a long time ago people will do what they want and you can\'t change peoples attitudes. Still, I will be there hanging out with the senior citizens today.
fyi, i have read the republic. i\'ve also read leviathan, the oresteia, the prince, king lear, othello, etc. i\'m not just trying to be some badass about not voting and trying to make a statement about being ignorant about politics.
so many people push you to vote because they want you to vote in their favor. it is
**** annoying and as someone who is in that 18-25 bracket, i don\'t appreciate it. i did not appreciate all of the campaigns geared at the youth during the 2004 presidential election and i don\'t like hearing from people trying to get me to vote for "their guy" now.
ex:
For all you CT folks, Mr Joe Leiberman needs to go.
maybe the only reason people are annoyed with the fact that i am not voting today is because my vote is not going to your democratic contender. what if i said i was going to vote repub, then i\'m sure most people would have different things to say. not to say that i will always be voting for either because modern political parties have lost their original fundamentals anyway, but i know that\'s a pretty typical reaction to expect.
who is unwilling to step up and do a better job himself
Oh yeah, there\'s my future!!! Being a piece of
**** politician!!! Ariiiiiight!!! :sigh:
actually, more than two patries comes with a whole slew of other problems. by building and crumbing coalitions of votes, you are constantly rearranging and re-prioritizing the agenda of the party. the aims you originally voted for could be put completely to the side in an attempt to compromise and gain votes on another issue. look at italy for an example of the effects of a number of different parties.
that\'s why you should all vote for me, jason king, as benevolent dictator extraordinaire!

Hon I am just stating my opinion, you can vote for whoever the
**** you want, I wouldn\'t tell you to not vote if you were going to vote repuclican, I would be surprised, but we do not have an accurate representation of what this counrtry wants right now, cause as Paul said we have maybe 35% voting, that\'s alot of people, the only people going to the polls are rich white men, no wonder Washington looks the way it does.I don\'rt care who you vote for, just vote, I personally would like to see Leiberman out of office, you may feel differently.

If you were to do it, I would vote.
i was just using you as an example babe...so, sorry if you feel used
here another example:

rotfl
Politicians suck, dictators rule!!!
the funny thing about the Paris Hilton thing is that she was all over that campaign and she never even went to vote, stupid
****, we should kill her.
