  A similar thing happened to my grandfather back in the 80s.  In his case, he was averse to going to the doctor.  Finally couldn\'t live with some severe pain he was having and went to a doctor.  Found out he had cancer and it had spread to his bones.  Really a shame because the guy was in his 70s and was athletic enough that he would jog in the Oakland Hills.

• Thanks for all the warm wishes and kind words.  She went in for surgery around 1pm, and now I\'m just waiting to hear back from the doctors after they finish. (seems like forever!) I\'ll send some news when I find out anything

• Wow - all the positive thoughts must have worked... for now!  She just got out of surgery, and the doctor had really amazing news.  They said she has made extraordinary progress already.  She is in recovery now, and will start rehabilitation tomorrow afternoon.    If she does alright with rehab, she can start chemo in 6-8 weeks to begin knocking the cancer out of her body.
