I saw a sign painted on the back window of an old pickup truck yesterday that said "how\'s all that hope and change working out for you?"
it made my laugh.
that is all.
Both sides made mistakes, that is all.
What is interesting is this discussion is being framed around race.
It isn\'t about race at all. It was about a normal citizen not kow towing to a police officers ego.
This happens all the time. It doesn\'t matter if your black, white, Hispanic whatever.
As soon as you question their authority they are taught to escalate the situation. They immediately go in to the mode that their authority cannot be questioned and they will do whatever they think they need to do to restore it.
In this case the police officer was responding to a possible break in. He would be totally justified in being cautious and having weapon drawn maybe ordering the guy to the ground etc etc. BUT as soon as the officer realized that the person he had was the legal resident he should have apologized, stated they were responding to a burglary call and left. Sure the guy was gonna be pissed as anyone would be / possibly scared shitless, the officer should have never baited him outside to be arrested for disorderly conduct. THAT is the real issue that of course will not be talked about. Instead this whole issue will be framed around race and not the ever increasing bullshit tactics of law enforcement.

I agree with this dude.
It\'s not about race at all. Its about police power.
Also, Deval Patrick is a douche-bag.
It\'s not every black man\'s nightmere to be wrongly arrested; it\'s every citizens worst nightmere.
from what i read, Gates refused to show id the cop wasn\'t happy about that and in the end no one will ever know the whole story
