Don\'t know about the rest of you and I don\'t want to start a holy than thow/scared of needles/blablabla argument about why people do or don\'t give blood, but I try to whenever I\'m eligible, which means I\'m due (every 57 days). Do what you can. They try to keep a 3 day supply in the state, we\'re currently at a 1/2 a day which is enough of a reason for me.
Blood drive at Shubert Theatre today

New Haven (WTNH) -- There\'s a call out across the state this morning for people to take some time to donate blood. The state is in desperate need.
It\'s the time of year when the blood supply gets stretched very thin. People go on vacation, schools are closed, it means the Red Cross only has a half a day\'s supply when it usually has a three day supply.
Believe me, there are just as many crashes and traumas in the summertime, and people still need surgery, so the need for blood does not take a vacation. And no, they can\'t stock up the rest of the year because some parts of the blood, like platelets, only keep for a few days.
If you\'re in New Haven today and can spare just one hour to help save lives, come down to the Shubert Theater at 247 College Street between 11:30 and 4:15.
You have to be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds.
If saving lives is not enough reward for you, if you donate blood this week you could win a $25 gas card.
Many people say they have not donated blood because the have not been asked, well, consider yourself asked.

I do my part by donating platelets whenever I can, but this means I can only donate about half the amount of regular donatins.
Unfortunately I can\'t donate b/c of diabetes, but I have donated time as a helper at the Red Cross. I highly suggest that if you are healthy you donate. It\'s worth saving someone\'s life! :awwyeah:
I gave for the first time a few months back, I\'m now in my companies Red Cross rotation (they come in every 2 months).
IMO, it\'s well worth the time. Plus, after you give, a couple beers and you\'re WASTED!
billy chags, ladies and gentlemen, billy chags. :sigh: rotfl

Too late now, but if you work out pretty hard the night before you get WASTED while giving blood...
it\'s not healthy, it\'s a bit scarey, but it happened to me.
if you work out pretty hard
You\'ve probably never seen me before, but allow me to give you a mental picture: The phrase "work out pretty hard" is NOT in my vocabulary.
ill give a kidney if anyone wants one...i might charge like 20 bucks though

Don\'t undersell your spare organs. I would think a man of your numberness would appreciate the resale value of a kidney.
I\'ll sell you chags liver for $100. Don\'t know how good it is though. We\'ll say "slightly used."

let\'s call it "certified pre-owned".
