Hey old friends!! Long time no see, I know.

I\'ve been living in the San Francisco Bay Area for a little over a year now. While this place is so precious to me, I also met an incredible guy who I\'ve been dating since I pretty much got here. He just happens to be a genius and got into Yale and Carnegie Mellon for grad school starting this fall.

He still has yet to make a decision about which school even though the deadline is next Friday. At this point, he has partial funding from Yale (2-yr Masters) and got waitlisted on funding from CMU (4-yr PhD). I\'m of course leaning towards Yale since it\'s at least partially funded, carries a great name, will only take me away from San Francisco for 2 years and is close to the B\'fam!

That all said, there\'s the big issue of finding a place to live. Greg is going in August, and I\'m probably going to stay in SF until the end of the year. Do you have suggestions for someplace he can rent for the first semester and someplace we can both enjoy for a year or so together? He needs to be within a half hour commute by public transit to campus and I need to be somewhere with a big enough job market. We\'re just not familiar with the area and what places are posh/residential/etc.

Thanks everyone, and hopefully I\'ll be seeing you in the not too distant future!!

Hi Kate, where exactly are you living these days?  With all the music I see, I\'m surprised I haven\'t run into you on the town.

freddie\'s right.  if you guys are sticking in new haven, i would avoid any address in the area of whalley ave or ella grasso blvd.  remember those names. cheap apts but not the place a young girl wants to walk around at night ;)

Check Orange Street in New Haven, any street off of Whitney Ave.  I know lots of Yale Grad Students live there in 3 family houses.  Once dated a med student who lived down there.  Its what they call the Yale Ghetto.  If he contacts yale housing, they may have some sort of program where he may get hooked up with some housemates or a renting agency.

Haha no. That was a way long time ago. He did take my heart though...I didn\'t think anything could take me away from California. looks like I was wrong!

Couple updates.

1) He picked Yale

2) We talked last night about me moving. I can\'t do it. I can\'t leave San Francisco :(

I\'ll still be out to visit regularly. I think we can do the whole long distance thing since the Master\'s degree really only takes a year and a half. He\'ll have tons of time off to come see me because of the university schedule, and I can fly out every couple months. He\'ll try to get summer research positions at either Cal Berkeley or Stanford to be with me.

I\'ll definitely be attending the Freakout this year, wherever it may be!
