i have to deliver a salutatory speech for graduation and dont want it to be blahh... this is an opportunity to really say something you know...
i\'m looking for lyrics or quotes to end it with a punch or inspire...
..., so far i am only sure about "be excellent to eachother" {from Bill and Ted, of course} and or a dead line...
i\'m sure you\'re the right group to ask

, so be kind and help a girl out
skip the cliches and come from the heart. thats my advice.
Aw, yes :awwyeah: Heart is a given. I\'m all about the heart.
"Kids, you tried and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try." -Homer Simpson
"Ugly it may seem at first it\'s okay
Slowly but surely things work your way
Hard work and effort pay off in time
Relax your heart and gain peace of mind" - TP
why do it today when you can do it tomorrow
"Kids, you tried and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try." -Homer Simpson
Classic. Another one I\'m especially fond of:
"Boy, there are 3 phrases that will get you life
1. Cover for me.
2. Ooooh, good idea Boss.
3. It was like that when I got there." -Homer
skip the cliches and come from the heart. thats my advice.
:that:
first of all, congratulations on graduating/speaking at your graduation!
i was a speaker at my high school graduation and totally dreaded it. the speakers were nominated by the faculty/students and i seriously wanted nothing to do with giving a speech, but i had a teacher who would not let me get out of it. just remember that people get bored at these things (at least i did). keep your sense of humor and be yourself. if you\'re going to throw a quote/saying in there, go with a famous poet/writer or relate it to your favorite book or childhood story. while the grateful dead or other bands have inspiration lyrics that people who love the bands can relate to, not everyone is familiar with that whole mentality. go with something that lots of people can relate to and take it from there. stories like dr seuss\'s "oh the places you\'ll go" can be a good start or any other books that are well-known and have that kind of theme. then again, i didn\'t quote anyone for my speech, i just talked about my hs experience, getting in trouble with a truincy officer lol, etc.
there\'s only two thing syou need in life, socks and a smile, cause cold feet suck and you might as well enjoy yourself
Change is the game, the game is to change
So don\'t you ever be the same
The nature of life is to always be free
Make Question Mark And The Mind a reality
Hey all these signs what are they saying to me
That the status quo is dangerous, don\'t believe all you read
Go out of your game and play all around
The globe is a playpen for inquiring minds now
Conclusion or not, many ideas yes
Fusion is what I want, fusion is best
Absorbing lots of information don\'t forget to give
Energy is everything and sharing is to live
Inform the young, inform the old and you
May Question Mark And The Mind be a line
To pursue....
tell them all the lessons you learned from throwing parties at random mansions you watch over for a week at a time
I have nothing to offer, public speaking is one of my biggest fears. I\'ve had to give one speech, being the best man in a wedding, in front of 200+ people, most of whom I didn\'t know, and it was extremely awful (for me, not the speech, that turned out to be an awesome tear jerker)
I always liked this quote, but I don\'t know who originally said it:
"The game of life is a game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy."

and for the speech...i think you should tell all of your fellow sunapee kids to get out...as soon as possible!!! you know that half of them are going to be living in their little sunapee security bubble for the rest of their lives.
...but say it in a nice way
