Flossmoor Station IPA. A highly rated local Chicagoland microbrewery. It\'s about 15 minutes from the house (it\'s so dangerous). The current version is Vishnu\'s Vice. 7.7% abv. Been bringing home growlers from there on a regular basis. It\'s the best one I\'ve tried yet and I\'ve tried almost 40 since NYE. Even better than Bell\'s Two Hearted Ale, which I had at The Lakefront in Menomonie, when I saw the band last month. But it\'s a seasonal and soon to be replaced, within two weeks I\'m hearing (bummer). Trying to drink in as much as possible before then. Do a google search for it. The reviews on beeradvocate.com are serious. Last time looked there were 8 reviews, all between 4.25 and 4.75 out of 5. PM me you addy and I\'ll send you a bottle.
Flossmoor cleaned up at least year\'s Great American Beer Festival. Those are the toughest awards in America to win and they did very well. I gotta try their stuff. Last time I was in Chicago in March I plowed through Three Floyds\' entire portfolio over 4 days. That was the best beer drinking I\'ve had in a long time, what a brewery. Will make sure to find Flossmoor next time!
Flossmoor Station Brewpub is the old train station that was renovated which now houses this amazing place. If you are staying in Chicago, there is a train from downtown that takes you right there. Next time you are out this way, give me a heads up, as I\'m always down for good beer.
needed a random beer thread to throw this pic in:

Hoegaarden mixed with Guinness is called a ?Dirty Hoe?
How was the middle portion of that beer?
christ take on or the other that looks like a clusterfuck
I\'ve noticed some of the larger beer companies are trying to break into the craft segment. Budweiser has the American Ale and Michelob presents a porter, bock, honey wheat as so forth. I\'m curious to know if any of these offerings are actually decent. I\'ve been on a Northern California stout/porter tear as of late and am unlikely to try any of the majors without a solid recommendation.
Any feedback?
i\'ve had the bud american ale... decent but nothing special.

the michelob one\'s aren\'t very good compared to others in that department, the porter and marzan (spelling?) are the better of the 4 in the mix pack, the pale ale is terrible. One thing is they are cheap, roughly around $11/12 per 12 pack, which has led me to buy it on several occasions, since they are all better than bud light for the same price.
They will never touch my lips.
I\'m a huge fan of Ommegang belgian-style!
Leinenkugels (WI)
all those tasty breweries and this is all WI has to represent at this thing?
damn. we have so much more to offer.
**** leinenkugel!!! sunset wheat = fruity pebbles mixed with:yack2:
New Glarus For Life!!!!
i have been jonesing for fat squirrel and spotted cow for so long....
At the last Red Square TB show I enjoyed some sunset wheat! It tasted more like blueberries than fruity pebbles though. lol

Al, I haven\'t tried any of them, but personally I wouldn\'t give most of the macrobrewers the time of day. I can\'t imagine any of their brews being any thing but pedestrian. Keep drinking what you\'re drinking. Lately, I\'ve been hitting the Midwest Stouts and Porters and we gots lots of \'em, plus some new seasonal IPA\'s. :beerban:
drink switchback (it does a body good)
I\'ve noticed Sam Adams White Ale in a lot of the stores:
which of the following is true:
A. it\'s a new beer
B. it now enjoys a much larger distribution and can be found coast-to-coast
C. I\'ve only recently noticed it and it has always been there
(I\'m sure Wolfman can best answer the question)
Any good?
the imperial series one is new, but they have made white beer for a while now I believe....it is pretty tasty too, has some at the extreme beer fest
Trout River in Lyndonville, VT is one of my all-time fav\'s...shame we can\'t get it in CT. I went up there 3 or 4 years ago and LOVED the Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, as well as their pizza. Very nice folks.
Main Street in Willimantic (H-Town), CT is also top notch, if you\'ve never been there I suggest making the trip. It moved from a tiny little store into the old post office which is HUGE. I spent many a day and night there sampling very, very good beer, Cask Ales (STRONG) and eating there nacho platters.
Local store bought (for me) is hands down Dirty Penny Ale from Old Burnside. It\'s about 60% Ten Penny and 40% Stout, Just smelling it makes me smile:)
