The best thing about the massachusetts law was that it was so vaugly written that if you are arrested, you are answerable to the city or town clerk of the municipality in which you were arrested.

also, you don\'t have to give your name or any identify documents.

Apparently that also leaves wiggle room for various towns/cities to increase the civil penalty. Springfield is trying to increase it to a $400 fine because they\'re afraid "pot smokers will congregate on street corners".

I just read about this. I saw that they have a gradual response. Like 1st time fine, 2nd time regah , 3rd jail or something like that
